  1. The same Riley who inherited a program consistently winning the majority of their games and had a nothing out of the ordinary happen other than the weird stuff he created. Hip Hip Hooray

  2. In no way shape or form is this true. Saying no one else wants this job if Frost got fired is laughable.

  3. I agree. The problem is that if he has the kind of year many think he can, he will likely be looking at the draft instead of returning for a year. Would be a good problem to have.

  4. I disagree entirely. Keeping Frost if he implodes this season sends the signal that Nebraska is scared they can't do better than Frost. You would argue that they're just showing belief that he can get it done. Newsflash: it doesn't take 4 years to navigate a team - in the weaker division in its conference - into a bowl game.

  8. We’re not going through this firing talk again. Trev is committed to Frost. It’s about earning and building that trust now. Whether some of you like it or not, Scott Frost is your coach for a while. I’d like to let Frost play out his contract. No more paying coaches not to coach Nebraska anymore — who we kiddin’?Things don’t always workout in life. It happens. If Scott fails, he fails. We move on. Simple as that. Fans have got to support the man, bottom line.

  14. It was not a majority vote but rather a few who didn't want to play. Wandale was one of them according to what I have heard. Understandable with the family medical issues going on - he wanted to go see his mom. “I think a lot of the team, most of the team wanted to go out and play. This was kind of the one time because of how weird the year was that I wanted the team to help decide,” Frost said. “We also didn’t want to go into a bowl game unless everybody was committed and gung ho and excited about going. It was just such a long, hard year that we couldn’t get a unanimous decision from that standpoint. We went through a lot of things last year that I think the team needed to go through for growth. I’m glad we got that opportunity to do that this year, and I think it will lead to better things next year and beyond.” Scott Frost

  17. Then the board would be up in arms about how Frost won't share anything, he doesn't know what's going on, it's just coach speak, why won't he be honest, etc. There is nothing Frost could say that would be a win for him right now. He'll be attacked regardless.

  19. Trying to be realistic... West Division 1. Wisconsin 2. Nebraska 3. Iowa 4. Minnesota 5. Purdue 6. Northwestern 7. Illinois I think very little separates Iowa and Nebraska right now. I think Nebraska takes over second place with the head to head win. Wisconsin at camp Randall is too much to ask this season but it will be a game. Minnesota will be "ok" and Purdue will perform slightly better than predicted. Northwestern lost too much and will be close to terrible. Illinois will be full of roster flip rookies and will struggle to win a league game.

  23. This seems like a logical timeline to me also. 5 years should have been the minimum time for Frost when he was hired which allowed him to turn over roster as much as needed/wanted. Wish more wins would have happened in the meantime, but these next two years are important for his future

  25. the one thing that got old last season, was the constant reference (by Frost)to one or two mistakes on a few drives that killed it. good teams overcome a few mistakes in every game. good coaching and adjustments win games.

  26. Pretty sure the reason it happened how/when it did is there were already 2-3 coaches who were also in there second year getting fired. So it was done to show that Frost had full support and wasn't going anywhere. So the overall length wasn't necessarily needed but it was done to show he wasn't in the same situations as others in his hiring class.

  27. I'm ok with the 2 year extension. In the long term - I think it will work for our benefit. Here is why: 1. The depth of the rebuild was deeper than I think we all knew - I don't think the AD or Frost and his team realized the depth of the rebuild. Not that it matters, the fan base especially didn't realize it. Thus we lived under the mis-quided & deceptive false expectations that we'd see a UCF type turnaround here. 2. The rebuild wasn't just in talent but perhaps more importantly in culture & work ethic & strength training. We could have had all 5 * players but the culture would have held us back. 3. Frost and assistant coaches, being new to the Big 10 and its culture, made big recruiting mistakes on the type of players they needed to win in the Big 10. We are now recruiting the type of players that I think will make us competitive in the Big 10. Without the 2 year extension, I don't think we would of gotten these type of players. I'm thinking of the recent TE, WR, LB especially. The Big 10 is a totally different animal than the AAC or Pac 10 (Frost's Oregon experience). 4. I do think this year we will see the difference in culture, work ethic and the new type of player on the field that better fits the Big 10. However, I think our schedule works against us to fully see the results in our record, but I do still think 2022 will be our "restore the order' year. Our players will be older and more experienced - so many of our players (other than starters on our D) are Soph or younger. 5. This super senior year will enable our team to develop I believe. I believe we will get to a bowl this year 7-5 or 8-4. 2022 - 10-2 or better - if we play up to our potential. It will be interesting to see who the QB will be. IF AM returns to and improves upon his Frosh year - then great. Otherwise I think we have some good guys in the wings. If Frost flames out in 2022 - then I think we will have a real 'Coming to Jesus' moment.

  28. The problem with doing that is it sends recruits a negative message. Put a coach on notice with a shortened contract or reduced pay and recruiting suffers almost immediately because the staffs longevity is seriously in question. In todays transfer portal world, that would basically seal a coaches fate imo.

  29. I think Biden has some early signs of dementia, but I wasn’t sure about his leanings because he keeps his mouth shut to appease some of his base, and to limit the gaffes. I was simply surprised he actually said it. The middle of the country is pleased. The left is disappointed, but they really aren’t as prevalent as they think they are. Just loud. The right is politically bummed too because they were going to use Cuba against the Dems by promoting quotes from BLM and politicians like AOC and her friends. Now I want to see some action....get that internet up and running and let the people of Cuba know we got their back. If he supports a Cuban democracy flip, he will flip Florida. Let’s see if he has the Moxie.

  30. This scenario makes me wonder if Frost will push for a Martinez return in 2022 or will he want to start a new QB? If in fact we finish 5-7 etc this season.

  31. Ben McLaughlin (I'm not a huge fan of his for some reason, but do note he will still be on baseball games), Austin and I think Tim, I never memorized the last names, but I did like listening to their Family Feud style segment, so of course they cut that and reduced the show to 2 hours. Greg is on vacation so for 2 weeks it has been guest host Bill Doleman sitting in with new host Jessica Coody. I've actually liked Doleman's presence but the new lady is an outsider from Oklahoma trying to be enthusiastic. I hold her Oklahomaness against her :p

  34. "I would have used it to reduce pay and put final conditions/expectations over a short interim of 1-2 years". Your original quote that started the discussion. Doing so would kill recruiting and effectively end a coaches time at that university.

  35. No i dont think we should have shorted his contract. I think we should extend it to 5 years, not 7. All 7 does is put us on the hook for an extra 10 mil and 2 years if it doesnt work out.

  36. if I am a recruit a 5 year deal means the coach is there the 5 years I will be in the program. I always thought that was the standard length of time coaches were extended to. This 7 year deal is news to me.

  37. This is EXACTLY it. Anyone complaining about the extension doesn't understand how all this works. You want to destroy Frost's ability to recruit anyone? Don't extend his contract. If you don't extend it, you might as well fire him.
