  4. Not pick him up and drive him into the ground after the initial hit which he clearly did. Whether we like or dislike the current rules is irrelevant. They are the rules of the games and unless you have access to the Wayback Machine you have to play by the rules or expect to get flagged.

  5. Been off the board for a couple weeks (a) because I'm trying to move across the country for work and (b) was pissed about the loss, but I was able to get some time to put together a recap of the game looking at the offense and the defense, if anyone is interested. Looked at some of the key stats, why we might have used nickel so much, Adrian's play and the gameplan controversy and broke down one cool concept each from the offense and the defense. https://black41flashreverse.substack.com/p/illinois-recap-fumbled-opportunity

  6. What science are you referring to? I would love to see a link to a long-term study showing that the vast majority of the carbon dioxide a person normally exhaled for good is instead being inhaled again for years and that it has absolutely no effect on their brain, lungs and body. I am pretty sure no study exists and you are quoting main stream propaganda "news" who have an agenda.

  7. I am very aware that N95 masks are the ONLY mask that are able to block the size of the virus from entering the mask. 99.99% of the masks I see day in and day out in are NOT N95 masks. My stance that the current mask mandates are worthless is very sound and solid.

  8. The emboldened could be cut and pasted coming up on 20 times in just over 3 years of Frost's tenure. Just reading the bold, you could get a dozen different answers on what game or year this is referencing. That's called a pattern, and it's a reflection of extremely poor leadership. You have your players now, your system, your rhythm, and get beaten up by one of the worst teams in the conference led by a 1st year HC and a 2nd string QB. The video of the Illinois kids jumping in water, dancing around laughing, looking very loose - Brett B. instilled in them an attitude they knew they were going to win that game. Can't say this happens from the leaders on the other sideline.

  9. This is where I am at in terms of the games we have left. Who are we confident in beating? Fordham W Buffalo W Oklahoma Lol Michigan State Likely W Northwestern Likely L Michigan Likely L Minnesota Likely L Maybe a toss up Purdue Most Likely W Ohio State Lol Wisconsin Most Likely L Iowa Most Likely L If we are the team we have been the last 3 years and the first game this year 4-8 seems rather likely. My gut tells me we will have one of those likely L's possibly go our way but that is nothing but gut and I have no tangible reason to believe we win currently.
    4 points
  10. So say we go 4-8, you still believe he needs a 5th year? When was the last time at a P5 school that a coach had 4 losing seasons to start their career and turned it around in year 5?

  11. I guess this explains why our second half adjustments are nonexistent. I am so glad we are paying Frost $5 million to make statements like this. If we cannot adjust to what a first year coaching staff at Illinois throws at us, what are we going to do against the other big ten coaches? Bend over I guess.

  14. The Martinez scramble was a boundary corner blitz that the secondary rotated over to cover. It wasn't prevent defense, Illinois was being very aggressive and for one of the few times we picked it up. It wasn't a fluke, it was Illinois being very stupid.

  17. Asking the why question and critical thinking are imperative in this place. Why are medical staff wearing masks? I can tell you it is not to prevent them from getting an air borne virus that is more contagious than the common flu/cold. Those parts of the hospital have people in full-body air tight bio suits. Medical staff wear masks (during surgery and other up-close procedures) so that big stuff in their mouth (saliva, sneezing or coughing etc.) does not fall into or on the patient. Yes, even medical staff can have a sneeze or cough that comes on so quick they do not have time to turn their head away. My physician (and millions like him) never wears a mask during my yearly physical, standing right next to me checking my reflexes and listening to my heart, their office takes the correct approach in giving the individual the right, freedom, and choice to wear a mask or not. Forcing people to do anything to their body against their will is totalitarianism, which is where we are at with the Fauci admitted ineffective masks.

  18. The touchdown was a bit of a fluke, a broken play when Illinois was essentially in a prevent defense with a 21 point lead. If we had seen more designed QB keepers -- or even more successful scrambles after holding the ball too long -- I think you could respect AMs running game more.

  19. This doesn't address the issue of whether virus size matters for masks. Yes, there are other mechanisms for the virus to spread. Agree that social distancing is more effective. False. There's a lot of unsupported conjecture/conspiracy theories that masks are bad for people, but the science shows that there's virtually no risk. True, but masks don't make you breath in a substantial amount of carbon dioxide. It's like saying that because your body can't exhale every bit of air in your lungs, throat, sinuses, and mouth that means you're breathing back in carbon dioxide, which is somehow going to be bad for you. Are people wearing scarves in winter now suddenly at a health risk? No, of course not. Children are not having lung damage from masks. That's insane conspiracy theory stuff. But covid poses a real risk of lung damage for children (and people of all ages).

  20. You should research how covid-19 virus spreads through the air and learn why the virus size doesn't matter.

  21. According to God's Word He can hear the secret thoughts of your heart. So yes He can hear you. In other news the size of the holes in your average face mask are far larger than the virus you are trying to not breath in, unless you have a N95 mask that is form fitted to your face.

  26. You are exaggerating. And I've seen several post like this. Nobody said they need to be inducted into the hall of fame. It's the 1st game of the year. Against a new HC. On the road. The people who give credit to the defense is because they played well. They allowed 21 points, they kept us in the game, and they were on the field a lot. They looked the part, got some sacks, covered well, pressured the QB, did a nice job tackling, and forced a turnover. It was good effort. They are credit worthy. Maybe if they gave up 34 points or something, fine. But one long drive isn't enough reason to b!^@h. You want to complain, find out why the Huskers struggled to score, and trailed 30-9 in the 4th. 9 of those points had nothing to do with the blackshirts productivity. Bottom line, the defense played good enough for the offense to score enough, to win a game. You can't ask for anything more than that. And they will improve from this game too. So give them credit.

  27. Easy, there ol bud. there were 5 really big plays that swung the game for Illinois: INT overturned, long pass down sideline, dumbass play by CTB, terrible throw by AM in the end zone, fumble returned for TD before half. 5 plays. 4 of those were “mistakes” by us, given to them. I know we do that on the reg and it’s Frosts M.O. at this point after 3 yrs and 1 game. It suuucks. it’s on him to coach pliers not to do stupid s#!t. my guess is he looked at the tape (for a long time) dissected every play and how each play had the “damn, we were close on that one”. after his disastrous presser, I’m glad and hopeful he see’s the tape and can visualize his team being good and getting better.

  29. Gonna throw this out too. Illinois rolled out one of the most experienced teams in the NCAA with the most returning "super seniors" of any team. That matters. The "but it was still Illinois" rationale doesn't matter, because we aren't "still Nebraska." We can't just show up and beat lesser teams anymore. We have no psychological advantage that can get us a few extra points like we did over the Old Big 8 teams. In fact I'd say right now we are operating at a psychological deficit.

  30. Usually I dont care what color a team wears for home or away. With recent pressers though I am worried Buffalo coming out in a dark color could cause Frost to lose half the gameplan

  31. What if Fordham shows up with a defensive alignment that Frost never expected?

  32. Regardless of what was or was not said in the press conference, we can all agree on a few things based on what we have witnessed thus far in the Frost era: (1) Frost has been outcoached on many occasions by other big ten coaches. He even admitted that on a few occasions (2) our second half adjustments are disastrous or non-existent, as if the coaches are clueless on how to react (3) our players on the field look confused on many occasions and keep looking to the sideline for help. Many times they are caught off guard and out of position, and are running like turkeys on thanksgiving. (4) Adrian Martinez has regressed every year since year 1 and the coaches have zero idea how to get him on track. (5) the sideline demeanor of Frost and company does not inspire confidence or show belief in oneself. They simply do not believe they have what it takes to dominate another team I know this next comment I make will rain hell on me but oh well. Does anyone else feel that may be Frost and company got lucky at UCF and had the correct athletes at that time which resulted in their record but they are in fact not that good. I remember the games were shootouts and UCF would pull a rabbit out of the hat. I guess that is not good enough for the BIG. I really hope I am wrong but after four years of the same exact product on the field, you have to wonder what is really happening. We do not even have one impact player on our offense. Unless Frost has an ace up his sleeve, this season will get very ugly starting with the Oklahoma game.

  33. Definitely a Frost problem. Always makes me laugh when people when people say it's a Riley problem. Frost's offense has progressively gotten worst every year....I'm talking F+ (analytics/efficiency), yards per game, yards per play, points per game. The more Riley guys graduating, the worse Frost's offense plays. That's why if this trend continues, and we have another inept offense this year, and finish below .500, you have to get rid of him. Do we think this is gonna magically turn around with the worst recruiting class in the B1G and a 1st year QB?

  35. It would also explain why the back up went 12-16 and 3 TD's. We had not prepared for him at all. Once he came in, we had no plan on defense at all. Simply couldn't adjust.

  36. The bolded is why there is little to no hope that this team will get better. If Frost can't fix this s*** in the three years he's been here, what makes people think he'll fix it this season in some sort of expedient fashion? The team is beating itself is a record that's been on repeat for what is our fourth year now. That's why as soon as Nebraska is no longer bowl eligible (probably before Halloween at the current rate), Frost needs to be gone and a search needs to happen.

  37. The hit wasn't late and he drove into the QB at his chest. Exactly what he was supposed to do. Honestly, watching the film it appears his only problem was that he wrapped up which caused him to come down hard on the QB. Darn....we have tacklers wrapping up. The taunting afterwards was uncalled for. I never saw a replay that showed it, so I'm not sure exactly what he did. I firmly believe that if we hadn't already knocked one QB out of the game, the roughing the passer isn't called on this one....only the taunting.

  38. Well if Illinois was being very stupid and it was one of the few times we picked it up, it was by definition a bit of a fluke. I'll take your word that Illinois was being very aggressive — they appeared to be playing the bend don't break strategy all game. If we knew Illinois was going to dare Martinez to beat them with his arm -- as most teams have done for the past three seasons -- then we would have needed more and better designed running plays for both Martinez and the RBs in order to make play action a legitimate threat, or for Martinez to actually beat them with his arm in an everyone-go-out sandlot ball game. Adrian got 36 yards on his 16 other carries. That made his TD feel a little flukey, too. Had it tied the game I would have felt otherwise. I think we can agree that Adrian's stat line did not translate to nearly enough success on the field.

  39. This is why Mitch broke every norm to shove Kavanaugh and ACB down our throats. For everyone claiming the concerns about these radical right-wing justices was overblown... you just needed to wait a bit. Texas 6-week abortion ban takes effect after Supreme Court inaction A controversial Texas law that bars abortions at six weeks went into effect early Wednesday morning after the Supreme Court and a federal appeals court failed to rule on pending emergency requests brought by abortion providers. The lack of judicial intervention means that the law -- which is one of the strictest in the nation and bans abortion before many people know they are pregnant -- goes into force absent further court intervention. The law allows private citizens to bring civil suits against anyone who assists a pregnant person seeking an abortion in violation of the ban. No other six-week ban has been allowed to go into effect -- even briefly. What ultimately happens to this law remains to be seen," said CNN Supreme Court analyst and University of Texas Law School professor Steve Vladeck, "but now through their inaction the justices have let the tightest abortion restriction since Roe v. Wade be enforced for at least some period of time." The case comes as the justices are poised in the upcoming term to rule on the constitutionality of a Mississippi law that bars abortion at 15 weeks. Under the Texas law, abortion is prohibited when a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is often before a woman knows she is pregnant. There is no exception for rape or incest, although there is an exemption for "medical emergencies." Abortion providers asked the justices to block the ban while legal challenges played out because they argued that if it were allowed to go into effect it would "immediately and catastrophically reduce abortion access in Texas," ultimately forcing many abortion clinics to close. They argued if the law were allowed to take effect it would have the impact of "barring care for at least 85% of Texas abortion patients" and would mean that lawsuits could be filed against a broad range of people including a person who drives their friend to obtain an abortion, someone who provides financial assistance and even to a member of the clergy who assists a patient. Two hours before the ban was set to go into effect, one of the clinics -- Whole Woman's Health -- reported that it was providing abortions. "Our waiting rooms are filled with patients," the clinic tweeted, adding that "anti-abortion protestors are outside, shining lights on the parking ...we are under surveillance." In another tweet, the clinic said, "This is what abortion care looks like. Human Rights warriors." The Supreme Court's failure to respond prompted a furious backlash from supporters of abortion rights just after the law went into effect. "Access to almost all abortion has just been cut off for millions of people, the impact will be immediate and devastating," the ACLU said in a tweet.

  44. This is a good team and I feel like 7 wins is still a real goal. We know about the mistakes the Huskers made in week 0. But also, illinois made some plays too (punt coverage on CTB, the fumble scoop and score, the downfield throw and catch producing another score). It would be great to be 1-0, but the only game that matters is the one in front of you. I'm ready for the home game and getting back on track. Enjoying one game at a time.

  45. The rumors aren’t really playing into my take. His pressers and demeanor, the lack of actual improvement and his not having any answers for it are what’s shaping my opinion. But yes, after all that, it would seem to lend some credence to the rumors. I don’t think Troy Dumas lights him up on Twitter and calls him out for not showing up until noon without pretty hard evidence. This staff, most importantly Frost himself, just don’t have the answers to move the program forward. We’ve seen the evidence on the field. When an even D front causes you to throw your game plan out the window, I…I don’t even know how a coach can admit that. That is basically a cry for help. He is defeated. I don’t think we can expect a team with that for leadership to do much. And it isn’t going to get easier. Every coach and team we face from here on out is going to have all the confidence in the world. One of the things that made our 90’s teams so formidable was that the opponents were defeated before they took the field. We are now the defeated ones having to take that field. I don’t think it will be pretty.

I'm starting to think he doesn't want to share his depth chart because he doesn't have a depth chart would help explain why we have a corner back who doesnt necessarily have blazing speed as a punt returned would help explain why we hear about certain running backs who never actually see game time would help explain why we see a constant merry go round of running backs would help explain why the receivers dont seem to have clearly defined roles would help explain why we're a complete embarrassment
