  1. Pretty sure he's trying real hard to NOT get to the end of his contract.

  2. 3 more seasons. Frost is trying real hard to get to the end of his contract.

  3. So, you don't know how it was handled and how they forced him to get in shape. But.....it's the coach's fault because they should have done it differently.

  4. So, making a player be in proper shape to see the field and having accountability in the program is stupid? Also, if you think that Yant would be the as good as a running back at 258 as he is at 232, then you might be the stupid one.

  7. I'm there with you. We just need to kick their a$$. I would love for PSU to expose them this weekend, then for them go get all their confidence back before they play us, only to have us destroy them. OR....an even better result.....PSU exposes them and they drop at least one more game before we destroy them.....and we go on an amazing run to finish off the year and WE win the west. But...the first option is probably has a better chance of happening. At the end of the day, we just need to start kicking their a$$ to shut them up.

  9. I about had a heart attack for a second reading that WR list, thinking that was the three starters.

  10. Again, this is your opinion that you are trying to present as a fact. "Nearly" is a relative term. Just because you want to define it one way doesn't make that the only answer.

  11. I hate Iowa but they have been on a hell of a run the last three years. 21-5 (14-5), two top 15 finishes and currently top 5. Lets not down play what they've done, a good Iowa is good for Nebraska. If we're playing a top 20 Iowa team for a division title every Friday after thanksgiving it will do a hell of a lotta good for our program. We just need to pull our weight.

  15. If you are like me and have the pleasure of knowing any Hawk fans, you are surely hearing them crow about their team's Number 3 ranking,, and Nebraska's lack thereof. For all of you in this unfortunate situation with me, here is some information to help you set them straight, or at least give them something to ponder. Iowa has played Indiana which has a record of 2-3, Iowa State 3-2, Kent State 2-3, Colorado State 1-3, Maryland 4-1 - Combined record of Iowa Opponents 12-12. Nebraska has played Illinois 2- 4, Fordham 2-3, Buffalo 2-3, Oklahoma 5-0, Michigan State 5-0, Northwestern 2-3. For a combined record of 18-13. Iowa has such an easy schedule- Penn State is the only ranked team left on their schedule, and will likely be the only team on the scheduled ranked at the end of the season, unless Iowa State, Nebraska or Wisconsin can go on a run and sneak in the rankings later in the season. Honestly, with that schedule if they don't finish at least 10-2 they should be embarrassed. I think they will likely lose to Penn State, win the West, lose in the Conf. Championship, and then finish for an Iowa Best Rose Bowl loss for a pedestrian 10-4, 11-3 season (losing to us on Black Friday). That they will crow about being "this close" to making the playoff. Looking at the BIG, there might not be a team from the BIG in the playoff this year... Nebraska's schedule will feature 5- maybe 6 teams ranked at the end of the season, with the potential of multiple being in the top-10. We'll see if Iowa is for real when they play Penn State this weekend.

  16. He's putting together the best season by any Nebraska quarterback so far, and people are still bickering about how he's not good enough. Sheesh.

  17. I've mentioned it a couple of times, but Adrian is a damned natural at the option.

  18. 26 lbs. Why do you care so much about this nit you want to pick?

  19. The good news is, they may have another opportunity to do up some banners, plaques and rings in commemoration of their so-so season. It’ll help out some desperately bored Iowa award businesses.

  20. Nobody knows for sure. You seem to think that he was not played over the first few games as punishment. It seems way more likely that he was not played until he got back down to the proper playing weight and got back in shape. I imagine it would take awhile to lose nearly 30 pounds.

  24. Well, Yant did run like he was hungry...

  25. He dropped a lot of weight in a short period of time and got in shape. How do you think they did that?
    4 points
  26. Ya having him do stadium steps, sprints, and extra drills till he gets the bad weight off wouldn't help in that regard at all. You are so right. What was I thinking?

  27. Not if he can't play the way they need him to if he's out of shape.

  28. I just watched the end zone angle of the stiff arm first down run for Yant. He either has really good vision or made up his mind before hand but seems like good vision. There was a defender coming in right away and taking an inside angle. Yant planted his foot as he was getting the ball so he could make the move to the outside. He was pretty impressive with making moves and hitting the holes.

  29. It's their call and like I keep saying there were other options in terms of consequences/discipline that fit the crime well.

  30. If this whole situation is what damaged the season, it seems like Yant is the one that damaged it...not the coaches.

  31. I learned my dad made the trip to Lincoln for homecoming. He ran into fellow Alum Jamel Williams who he coached against in the 90's in Northwest Indiana. He also sent a short video of he and his teammates reminiscing and sharing stories. Kinda cool to just see guys in their late 70's shooting the s#!t and telling stories like it was yesterday.

  33. Best post I've seen on this site. This is the perfect offense for the personnel, and it feels like the curse is finally lifted. Michigan walks into a buzzsaw on Saturday.

  34. 23 years ago, Nebraska won the Orange Bowl, and Scott Frost said "If all the polsters honestly think, after watching the Rose Bowl, and watching the Orange Bowl that Michigan could beat Nebraska, go ahead and vote Michigan, by all means"... 2021, Frost gets his victory against a high ranked Michigan team

  35. We get it, you played football at NU, so your opinions on all things should matter the most.

  36. We crushed these guys like they were an FCS team. Felt amazing. We could have probably hung 70 on them if Martinez had played every down on offense. What did we learn? I guess we learned that it took Frost holding Greg Austin's hand to get the right offensive line lineup sorted out and motivated. It took five games to get there. That's pretty unacceptable to me. As in, I'm extremely happy our O line dominated, but this shouldn't have taken five games at all.

  37. Iowa fan jealousy/hate sometimes scrolls across my TikTok feed. Saw one last week where some scatter brained gal wearing a fugly yellow shirt has the caption "when Nebraska says they want to leave the conference" the audio then switches to "B%$&H I WISH THA F@#$ YOU WOULD". And then in the comments the Hawkeye faithful praising such an admirable and original video, saying how we just live in the past and think we're better than we are. Yeah, Nebraska lives rent free in their head even when we are at a historical low and they are at an all time high. Pretty sad.

  38. I also learned that they actually have a play when our O-line cuts. It was awesome. The entire line cut Adrian had clear sight to his number one target (was covered) looked back side and hit Betts. Wasn't a huge play but with Michigan have a D-line that tries to get upfield in a hurry I would like to see some more cutting to slow them down.

  39. I've liked what I've seen from Rahmir Johnson. Plays with physicality despite his smaller size. Really throws his body into people as a blocker. Yant could be huge for us (pun intended). Shiftier than I thought he'd be at his size. Let's see how they look against a better defense this week.

  40. I'm always amused when we run a few successful option plays and then there's this massive push by some Husker fans to go back to the option offense.

  41. I’m not overreacting. My comments were simply that I liked what I saw and hadn’t seen that in a very long time. No one has proclaimed that we’re “back” or that there won’t be other issues. You have to admit, regardless of opponent, that’s the best this team has looked in all facets in a very very long time. It doesn’t require chugging Kool-Aid or making proclamations about the future, just enjoy it.

  42. We very well could be the best team they've seen so far. Really hope the Huskers play that way.

  45. An option bases scheme out of a flexbone is never going to win championships in modern P5 football. The best teams are too fast and athletic for it to be effective. You still have to be balanced with the power running game, play action, and have WRs who can loosen up a defense. And you will never ever attract the talent to win a championship with that kind of play. It doesn't translate to the pros. If TO kept coaching this is probably close to where we would have ended up. This offense is based on misdirection and trying to make the defense wrong. Something he was a master of. We utilize multiple types of option plays (and always have) to make the defense wrong; Read option, speed option, load option, triple option, counter option, and RPOs all out of multiple formations. Like the Nebraska of old though, we need a strong base running game for them to be effective. But with the athletic playing field having so much parity now you can't just lean on top teams with the run and wear them down like 90s teams did, which is why we have to have a balanced passing attack with competent QB, TEs, and WRs.
