  1. Gopher fan here – I am probably looking through maroon and gold colored glasses but, having said that , my observation is that many/most Husker fans seem to think NU has better talent than most of the other teams in the Big10. I think that is clearly wrong. It seemed to me that during the MN/NU game that the Gophers clearly had the better O and D lines. AM was kept locked in the pocket the entire game and was unable to use his legs. AM has never been, as far as I can see, a great passer. The problem for NU is that SF has not developed the talent he has recruited. Take Bryce Benhart for example, MN tried hard to recruit him as he seems to have all of the tools to be good but… he has no business starting as a freshman. It takes time for big men to develop their full strength and techniques. At another school, WI, IA, MN, and now IL under BB he would not see the field until he was a Jr or Sr. It will be interesting to see if his experience at NU has ruined him as a future player. In short, NU does not have better players than other Big10 teams – NU has better athletes perhaps but not better football players and that is why NU is losing games. I’m done, fire away.

  2. No, when you lose at home to a 31 point dog you are horrible. Minny is horrible, NU is horrible, PU is horrible, NW is horrible, Iowa has scored 14 points in their last two games and they were ranked 2nd, Wisconsin can't complete a pass. The west is horrible.

  6. FYI: This was Mike Farrell in 2014 upon Nebraska hiring Mike Riley Rivals.com national recruiting director Mike Farrell tweeted that the hiring is a "home run." "I don't think Huskers fans realize what a well-respected game coach Riley is and how hard it is to win in Corvallis," Farrell wrote.

  8. Even 4-8 is not good as it would mean we only beat two Power 5 teams the entire season. He really needs to win the final 3 in my opinion to finish .500 and get to a bowl. It seems some fans keep lowering their expectations after each loss trying to justify why to retain Frost.

  10. The picture on the left is deplorable. What was your party's platform in 2020 again? Oh, have you decided if Obama was born in Kenya or if Mexican's are rapists and murders? I mean you voted for a guy who started his political career with those statements, so I'm just wondering which of those stuck work you in order to win your vote. You also voted for him after he couldn't disavow white Supremecy on national TV. I'm sure none of this has to do with white grievance. But don't worry @Archy1221, your party is going to win elections for the next 20 years. Just do us all a favor, try not to elect another guy accused of sexual assault by 2 dozen women (or at least doesn't have an untold number who've signed NDA's).

  17. Outside of listing names for a new head coach, here are some traits I would be looking for: Proven winner as a head coach (at least 3 seasons as a head coach with a .650 or higher winning percentage) Demonstrated the ability to change coaching style and approach when something is not working Ability to build an effective staff of assistants and get the most out of them Ability to maximize results with the talent on hand Willing to make the touch decision of personnel changes in a timely manner Ability to tailor a game strategy to the opponent (outcoach an opponent that may have superior talent)

  18. Under no circumstances should we consider last year a wash. Literally every other program had to deal with COVID. That was not a unique circumstance to us. With as much talent as we have had on the roster, there is absolutely no reason a competent coaching staff should be anywhere near as bad as we currently are. I absolutely understand that this was a top-to-bottom rebuild of the entire program, but to be making the same terrible mistakes we are making now is 100% on the coaching staff. Frost is lost. You can't run an AAC style all offense all the time type of team in the B1G. He has adapted, but his adaptations have not panned out in the W/L column. I see progress, too! We aren't getting obliterated by better teams anymore, but we also can't beat freaking Illinois. Baffling to say the least.

  19. The fanbase can debate this however we want. The only perception that matters is whether high school recruits and the people who advise them think Scott Frost's Nebraska is a good place for your career.

  20. Yes. The OU, MU and MSU games aren't what's frustrating this year. It's Illinois, Minnesota and Purdue.

  21. We're still divided on whether or not Frost should be fired, but I think everyone is in agreement that our O-line coach Greg Austin needs to be shown the door. Most of our offensive struggles stem from having a s#!tty O-line.

  22. I'm not so sure. So, legit four of our opponents belong in the Top Ten per McClintock's model and the Playoff Committee rankings. Iowa is somewhere in the Top 25. That's a decently difficult schedule.

  26. Could the 2021 season be the hardest schedule in Nebraska’s history? The B1G has never had 5 teams in the top 10 at the same time until this year (MSU, Mich, PST, OSU, Iowa). All but 4 of the teams that Nebraska has played were ranked at some point during the season. Team - Highest Rank - Current Rank - Record OU - 3rd - 8th - 8W 0L MSU - 3rd - 3rd - 8W 0L Mich - 6th - 7th - 7W 0L Minn - 20th - 20th - 6W 2L Pur - 25th - N/A - 5W 3L OSU - 3rd - 5th - 7W 1L Wisc - 12th - 21st - 5W 3L Iowa - 2nd - 22nd - 6W 2L When has NEB ever played a schedule like that? Did that ever happen in the Big 8/Big12? Has it ever happened in the B1G? Not that I can recall. Not even close. Take away 1 turnover a game and the Huskers are easily 7-1 and ranked in the top 10, playing a 7-1 OSU team this weekend. The only loss would have been to Minnesota using this methodology. Turnovers: Illi - 2AM Fumble OU - 2AM Int in Redzone MSU - 2AM Fumble, 2AM OT INT Mich - 2AM INT, 2AM fumble Pur - 2AM INT(s) The Huskers are tied at 87th in the country in turnovers lost with 13. This has been one interesting season.

  27. Scott melted our hearts, but the bad seasons snowballed into an avalanche of bad press. He tried his best this season, but to no a Vail. Our quarterback's Head was not in the game. Someone's gonna have to take a powder for this. I could do this all day!

  28. You ski on water. The water is nice and warm on a hot summer Saturday and you go hang out and swim and drink beer after you're done skiing because you had so much fun. So....Nebraska is hot with Scott at the helm. Now that makes sense. Or....it indicates his seat is hot. I'm so confused right now.

  29. Only way Scott frost should come back is if he agrees to step down to become offensive coordinator. he just doesn’t have the correct skill set required to succeed at this level. Either that or he has seen and knows what it takes, but refuses to do that because he thinks his way is still ok.

  32. I'm more confused on why, after 4 years, we don't have a "competent" back-up QB that should have been in for the Minnesota game.. I haven't seen any development of any of our QBs .

  33. Pretty darn low standard for a 5th year coach with all of the resources provided to him. Are we now that pathetic in our expectations. We don't and never expected it to be the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi but it is ridiculous to what we will now expect as acceptable.

  34. I’m sorry, could you repeat your honest question?
    4 points
  35. Yep. I'm sure Trev will take the difficulty of the schedule into his analysis of this season, but no matter what, those two games should have been wins. Frost needs to be able to explain why he couldn't get his team ready to win.

  36. I can even understand Minnesota. They are playing pretty good football right now and we were a the end of a grueling run of games. Illinois and Purdue are the real head scratchers for me. Absolutely no reason we should have lost those games. I think everyone would feel a lot different sitting at 5-4 right now.

  39. So 6 wins is what your bar is for next year if he comes back for a 5th year? In what possible way is that improvement? All he would have to do is beat NW, North Dakota, Georgia Southern, Rutgers, Indiana and 1more team in the B1G West. Is that actually improvement? That is literally what he has done years 1-4. 40. The entire offensive staff minus Beckton and 1 LB coach. Then you break the bank on an OC/QB coach that actually challenges Frost and his scheme, you already have a RB coach in North Stadium who recruited and coached guys like Rex and Ameer. You already have your Special Teams Coordinator in North Stadium too in Busch who can also take over Recruiting Coordinator duties. Then go and get a guy who can recruit and develop WRs. Hell Keith Williams is still hanging out in Nebraska, Scott can just pick him up before work and take him home and stuff. Pay a million dollars for an OL coach if that is what it takes but get an old mean SOB.

  41. Let's be honest....several of these teams that are ranked highly are not that great. OU is going to get blasted if they make the playoff. Neither of the Michigan teams are really that great. We lost to Illinois and Purdue. Purdue came off a bye week.

  43. Truth of the matter is, Frost bought into the full overhaul getting youth in place to exceed in years 3 and 4 with an experienced senior team. Year 3 was screwed by Covid, year 4 has the hardest schedule on record for the Huskers. His first two years were supposed to be down years under this plan, everyone has understood that, yet is now throwing those records at Frost as a reason to justify their impatience. In my mind, Frost's clock shouldn't have truly started until year 3 which ended up being covid year. He went 3-5 against an all conference schedule. Give the team the 3 patsy's they were supposed to play they probably at least go 6-6. - Progress. Year 4- we are on the cusp of beating top ten teams - strange flukes keep us out of the win column- still - progress. Year -5 under the full rebuild scenario is truly his year 3 in which we should see significant results if the gamble on a full rebuild was worth the pain. Heck even Saban went 3-8 or whatever at Alabama his first year.

  45. We're in such a weird place where like 100% of the outside world has thought Frost has been a dead man walking for a year. But internally still has an insane amount of support for someone that has accomplished very little (nothing of substance?) in 3+years.

  47. The OP manipulates time like I do when I make love..."No no, that wasn't fast...it was just year zero, after the 4th time we do it, it will be longer, because that will be year 3...hey where are you going?"

  48. What I don't like about Held is he has had 4 years to develop a RB, literally the easiest position to get on the field early. His talent evaluation concerns me more than anything. Breece Hall wanted to be a Husker...he was down a ways on our board even though several folks on here wanted him N.
