  1. You know what? Meeting between the coaches and the players should be contentious at this point. You just finished the worst season in generations, and none of the players or coaches have won jack $h!t since they got to campus 4 years ago. Hell yes, they should all be pissed off at each other.

  2. Pure speculation, but if AM was encouraged to move on and with him being a captain, it may not have set well with some players. Especially if they also lost their position coach. This is big boy business. Probably a first time experiencing something like this for a bunch of 18-20 year olds. Scott is perhaps making some uncomfortable and unpopular decisions in order to keep his job. The head coach coach is afforded that luxury. This too shall pass. I’m choosing to not be concerned with any of this. And I did read the full article. Again, this is just speculation on my part.

  3. I think it will be Jeff Grimes as OC/OL Broyles Award Finalist with Baylor (OC/TE) 1st year OC at Baylor - 8th in nation in rush yards pg, and 4th in nation rush yards per attempt (Baylor was awful the year before Aranda hired him) 3 years previously he was OC at BYU (Zack Wilson, amazing offense) That's telling that can be successful with a running style or passing game. Also, 20 years as OL coach (LSU, Auburn Natl Champs, BYU, etc..) When he played in college, his OL coach was Andy Reid. He's an OL guy through and through, and a great OC. Boost his pay from $500k to $1mil https://baylorbears.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/jeff-grimes/1662 Just a strong hunch. But if I am right, I want cookies and koolaid!

  4. I think it speaks volumes to how much Trev has gotten to know some of these players and how they probably feel comfortable going straight to him with their concerns. Trev did the right thing and decided to be there with them through a difficult time. Help calm the waters. Heck, he probably prefers that to staring at Commissioner Warren’s mug all day. Again, just speculation. None of this really should be too surprising. Nobody’s happy with 3-9.

  5. I have no idea what to make of this with so few details, other than to give the same tired take we've been giving for years around here. These kinds of things are rarely talked about when you're a winner. When you're a loser, this kind of stuff seems to happen all the time.

  7. You ready for this…?… I finally have a connection and something useful to say. My friend’s nephew is a second stringer at LSU on the offense. To keep their anonymity I won’t say name or position. The kid says the entire offense is pretty upset to hear Mickey is leaving. They are very excited about Kelly, but when they heard Mickey was leaving, the kid texted his dad and said quite a few team members are upset at the news. He just texted me again and said - “They all think he’s a great coach. You guys got a good one back at NU.”

  10. I read the whole article and didn't feel like that was much of anything. Some tensions but I would flipping hope so after 3-9. Some people best get uncomfortable and change things up.

  11. You know how many emails they probably get from fans saying..."You need to recruit this guy"?

  12. What does that even mean? Literally our best WR was from the FCS. Good players can be on bad teams or at lower levels.

  13. Frost will actually have a play calling thread on huskerboard each week and we get to collectively make the calls each play. Better up that internet speed amigo.

  14. Plus his team is not playing this weekend. I still believe the guys Frost wants for OC still has a game to play, with the top 3 candidates being: 1. Andy Ludwig-Utah 2. Jeff Grimes-Baylor 3. Warren Ruggerio-Wake And if it is true that the OC still has a game left, I believe Frost wants to allow that coach to finish out his game with the right focus and have time to say proper goodbyes. I would not want a Brian Kelly type coach that appears to ditch his guys and looks like an A*s. If it's Ludwig then we could find out later Saturday as his game is Friday night. If it's one of the other two it may be Sunday or Monday before we find out.

  15. Best thing that could happen now is: Brent Davis as OL/running game coordinator. Warren Ruggiero as OC/QB coach. Busch or Brumsfield as ST. Beckton to add RBs with help from Ron Brown. That’s a rock solid staff

  17. This is why the culture thing was garbage all along. Our culture is so awesome our captains and Frost clash at the end of every season. Winning matters, fake a$$ culture progress is such a useless metric that people cling to when winning is nonexistent.

  18. I feel like someone is misleading him with a best case and not average placement. Going in the third round would mean he is the 3rd or 4th best center available, historically. More and more players are leaving early and a higher percentage aren’t getting drafted. Cam is still pretty raw and has only been in the position since his second year in college. I question the evaluation he is getting and other evaluations that are being given out in the last 5 years to underclass men. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/30/sports/football/early-nfl-draft-entrants.html

  19. I am not sure this what everyone is making it out to be. On USC today, they mentioned that it was reported that 2AM demanded SF guarantee that he would be the starter again and to guarantee a transfer QB wouldn’t be brought in. If that is the case, I could see that conversation getting a bit contentious and I don’t blame SF for holding his ground. Below is the link to the segment. Edit, Relevant part starts at 11:10: USC discusses 2AM exit meeting with SF

  22. Can't believe we'd go get a top flight WR coach just to run Army's offense. One of these isn't happening IMO.

  23. Austin Allen set the single season record for TE yardage he was involved plenty. Vokelek was also utilized well. It really comes down to OL and RB play as the two missing pieces. I just disagree with you're take on Adrian. If you support him with a better cast he becomes better too. Not saying he is as talented, but look who Mariota had around him and what his OL did for him. Then see what happened to him in the pros. Adrian has the skillet to take a team to conference championship games if he has a supporting cast as well. You don't just play top 25 teams down to the wire everytime with a s#!tty QB.

  24. No matter how many times you float this idea, it’s not gonna happen. I’m sure he’s good and all but the kid is only 7. Husker’s minimum age requirement for OC is obviously going to be 10.

  26. Alright. So, not that we want this to happen, but.... with Mickey Joseph on board, I wondered if we could potentially fill our offensive staff, not just with former Huskers, but more specifically with former Husker QBs. We know it starts at the top. HC - Scott Frost WR - Mickey Joseph QB- Turner Gill/ Joe Ganz/ Gerry Gdowski RB/ ST - Eric Crouch OC- Joe Dailey OL- Frazier's big enough maybe Each has coached their position in college ball at some point. Maybe there are others I am not aware of. Feel free to fill in. Again, this is not realistic, just fun to think about.

  27. The four year starter could not get his turnover issues under control.

  28. Yup, easy to see how both of those conversations could get testy. Doesn’t mean there is a rift between SF and the players, not even with Jurgens or 2AM. Part of having a close relationship means having disagreements at times.

  29. If Frost told Adrian he wasn't going to hand the starting job to him and told Cam he wasn't NFL ready, I don't blame him.

  30. The fact Trev had to cancel his trip to Indy speaks volumes, he doesn’t wanna have to babysit Frost and that’s all he’s done since he’s been here.

  31. I hope players aren't crying over the coaches they were responsible for getting fired. Convince me the offensive line played for their coach.

  32. Maybe in all honesty, it's nothing more than the players saying to Trev you fired the wrong guys. Maybe the culture issue with Frost. Maybe they told Trev the staff was great. They deserved another year.

  33. How many of them are teachers or parents or fans who think they are national top 100 recruits? It's wild that you're so disappointed you never heard back without knowing any details on if they saw your email, followed up on it, were in contact, etc. What are you looking for, a text from Frost that says, "Thanks for the good tip The Scarlet Pimpernel, he looks like a great player but after being in contact (because of your great suggestion) he isn't interested in coming to Nebraska. Seriously though, good job!"

  34. I'm really hopeful they opened the bank to get Grimes. As previously voiced, I love the idea of the OL coach also being the Offensive Coordinator, to set the culture for the offense. And from a CEO standpoint, adding a coach with solid Texas recruiting connections would be HUGE.
