  1. Disagree. Players who have been on a college campus for 5 years???? Get real. Most have a degree and would be 23 years old. Why not move on with life. Did you automatically forget most are Covid juniors. This is a new era for another year or so.

  3. Players who respect their coach and believe in his vision for the team do not leave. It is obvious that the players know Frost is clueless on how to fix things and turn the corner. That is why we have first stringers bailing. If we were 9-3 this season with a real chance to compete next season no player would be leaving the team. I bet Allen, Domann, Daniels, jurgens, cam-Taylor-Britt, and Martinez would be looking forward to next season. Unfortunately, we are 3-9 and I am sure the players who are the closest to Frost and his coaches know that Frost is way over his head so they are jumping ship. I do not blame them. They gave Frost 4 years of their careers and Frost pissed it down the drain because he cannot game plan or put his team in a position to close games. I have nothing but respect for all the players who gave it their best. The blame falls on Frost and Trev Alberts. This experiment should have run its course by now. I bet that Oklahoma who lost their winning coach will still do much better next year than us with a coach who is in his fifth year at the helm. We keep looking for reasons to blame the players. Start pointing the fingers where they should.

  4. This is so right. +1 this. And rumor is that Cam came to Frost telling him he was going to the NFL. Frost told him he disagreed and that Cam could use another year that way he was was project rounds 1-3 and not 3-5. Oh man, what a shame that Frost did that. Such a contentious conversation that Mitch Sherman better write a whole vague story on. What did you want Frost to do? Not say a word with losing his starting center when he stuck by Cam when his snapping issues were obvious and Frosts’ job is now on the line in the upcoming year? Don’t fault Frost at all for trying to convince Cam to stay. The Adrian rumor above is what I heard. If true, I don’t blame Frost one bit. So, again, this is Mitch Sherman making a mountain out of a mole hill. Without giving any specifics and hiding behind “sources” so that he can say he wasn’t the one to make it a big deal. That guy is just here for the drama…like the Athletic, in general, when it comes to Nebraska. Look back at last year and the Athletics coverage of SEC and other conferences. God forbid Nebraska wants to play football, when they are covering all of those other conferences at the same time.

  5. I’m sorry, but Mitch is known for stirring the pot as much as Dirk, so this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. If Adrian asked for no competition, then shame on him. Frost and Mario afforded him that luxury and it didn’t work. Competition breeds excellence…Remember when Like performed quite well and the fan base was split, AM started and any time we needed a spark or somethingLuke was thrown in… this hurt both Martinez, because it solidified that his performance was acceptable to be the starter and Luke because consistent reps/experience is what he needed to become better. On to Cam… I love the guy’s fire and willingness to switch positions for the betterment of the team, but he was given a leash longer than anyones (including Martinez) during his first couple years because Frost saw his raw talent and knew he could be special or had the potential to be… Mitch can eat s#!te because the only reason you release a vague pile of hot garbage like he did is to get a rise out of people or cause hurt… he’s trash

  6. And, just like with Bo...the media is starting to report the bad... I don't blame them...they did lose out on their "head coaching search" stories.

  13. if we are still looking for a special teams coach, this guy will probably be available soon. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/32788408/texas-assistant-football-coach-jeff-banks-girlfriend-sued-monkey-allegedly-bites-child probably a good idea if he leaves the girlfriend and monkey back in Texas, though.

  14. I don't believe 2AM demanded Frost guarantee he's the starter next year. 100% out of character for the guy. If that's not true, or greatly exaggerated, what else about this "story" is not true or exaggerated?

  15. Because people are lazy and don't understand that those offenses are actually built to try to overcome talent deficiencies and size differences due to military academies being naturally smaller. Run well it can be effective because of all the eyewash but it's extremely limited and can be adjusted to pretty quick. Anybody who played hs football in Iowa and played Ankeny up until their split knows it's an offense that's tricky, but once you figure out the motions and your keys it's becomes super easy to guess the desired hole. Blow the play up from the start and it's even more screwed. That's why teams that run it need a good defense too. It is not designed for scoring explosions. It's designed to maintain control of the game and make you out think yourself. It's a terrible offense for this level of football

  16. So, moral of this story is...Riding players who aren't ready believing there is a big pay off in the end, just gets you entitled players, a bunch of L's, and a losing culture?

  17. Regardless of what did or didn't happen one thing that has proven true over the last decade or so. There are those who are inside the program who do their best to denigrate the program they work for. Those people have needed to be outed and disposed of for far too long. And anyone who wants this program to succeed, a good start would be to quit supporting the "journalists' who continually seek out and post this kind of unsubstantiated drivel.

  18. Unless Frost laid hands on a player, why would they go crying to the AD. My guess, this is all nothing or it’s a REALLY big deal. But I’m going to go with nothing… Edit: Frost: “Sorry Adrian. You know I have your back and I love you like a son, but there is no way I can guarantee you start next year. Especially as you sit in front of me with your arm in a sling..” AM: “I’m telling Mr Alberts!!!” … Frost: “Look, Cam. You have made huge strides. Not only could you better your draft stock but you would be a very valuable part of our team next year. I’d like you to stay.” CJ: “How dare you!?! I’m getting Alberts in here!” This is all just silly on its face.

  20. The HC is the coach. The players play - they don’t coach nor do they ever decide who plays where or when or how. Players follow instructions and play their level best for the best interests of the team and its objectives. If a player decides he knows better or his personal interests are more important than his teammate’s role, time for player to exit stage left. Simple as that - no fuss no muss. Not controversial.

  21. Someone truly has it out for Frost IMO. Maybe the ghost of LP lives inside North Stadium, but crap like this and the nonstory "practice infractions" are getting leaked to screw with him. Interesting bookends the season with hit pieces like this. Additionally, I believe both happened to leak on a Friday to ensure th fan base got good and worked up over the weekend. Also note, it was leaked to steal the thunder from the first bit of good news Nebraska has had in a while with Joseph coming on board.

  22. Hopefully people keep in mind that most media members are not Nebraska fans. Listen to USC for five minutes and it's pretty obvious. They were even trying to pick at Joseph saying he was not a good QB. Guess that's why Barry Switzer wanted him so badly. They like pot stirring whenever possible to bring in listeners. Twitter has brought about tons of misinformation for years in sports and news and people think tweets are facts but, they are really someones opinion.

  23. Pure speculation, but if AM was encouraged to move on and with him being a captain, it may not have set well with some players. Especially if they also lost their position coach. This is big boy business. Probably a first time experiencing something like this for a bunch of 18-20 year olds. Scott is perhaps making some uncomfortable and unpopular decisions in order to keep his job. The head coach coach is afforded that luxury. This too shall pass. I’m choosing to not be concerned with any of this. And I did read the full article. Again, this is just speculation on my part.

  25. I was thinking have triple option personnel and air raid personnel and run out a f#&%ing NHL line change based on what play you wanna run.
    4 points
  26. That or triple option. Just get real weird with it. Or let’s do Davis AND Harrell and run a triple option air raid hybrid.
    4 points
  27. I’ll go against the grain here. Just hire Harrell, go full air raid, promise the best transfer QB 50 attempts a game and the best transfer WR 15 targets. Teach the hogs to pass block. This whole thing is a Hail Mary anyways, let’s get weird.

  29. I honestly think, even losing some talent this year, that new offensive coaches help get this team to the next level. I’m serious when I say 9 wins next season. Go ahead, add the laughing faces. I’m putting my bet in for 9 wins.

  36. My how quickly the fan base turns on a player that is attempting to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. Why be at all loyal to Scott Frost when it was him that made all the promises about turning your dumpster fire into something else? Why be loyal to a program that would not make changes unless forced? I know that you are all loyal, bleed Nebraska red fans, but is there a chance that maybe the current players are the ones that were hurt the most by the exuberance of getting Scott Frost as head coach and then the 4 years of absolute embarrassment to the team, the school, the B1G, and the fans at just about every level. Now Frost tells some players to stay in order to better their NFL chances? Play another year for a loser? Platy another year and maybe get hurt? Is there any chance that Frost gives this advice in order to field a team next year that will not continue the embarrassment and get him fired? Before you diss any players for the decisions they make, put yourself in their shoes. Just to beat you to it, I look for Iowa to get beat today by 3 touchdowns and any Iowa touchdowns will be either made by special teams or defense. We have our own trainwreck over here, it just happens to be a trainwreck that wins games (and I do not know how)

  37. Gotta admit the weird COVID season plays into it. What exactly do you do with that "free" extra year? If you're a four year starter on a team with four losing seasons, is your return for an unprecedented fifth season an asset or liability? For a lot of guys, that's actually a sixth season of hard core practicing and conditioning for a football career that will be over immediately, as they have no future in the NFL. If you really are close to success and you're a band of brothers and you love your coach, maybe you do commit to Scott Frost's Nebraska for a final redemptive season. But the pragmatist would advise against it. Teams with four consecutive losing seasons have to believe they're really not that bad, and coaches have no choice but to coach them up. But maybe they really aren't good enough, as the evidence suggests. Part of me thinks Adrian Martinez should be a little embarrassed to come back for a fifth year, understanding his ample chances to prove himself and the need for the program to groom his successor. His best opportunity is to prove himself at another program, and Scott Frost might be doing Adrian a favor. But I also wouldn't dismiss the rumors of a larger toxic culture in Scott's program as mere clickbait by s#!t-stirring sports writers. At this point there's enough smoke to be legitimately concerned.

  43. Damon Benning has even less credibility than Mitch Sherman. Mitch Sherman is a very poor excuse for a journalist. Decent writer, awful journalist. As far as the 'drama', there is no drama; there's only unsubstantiated rumors of drama. I'm sure there's something there, but nothing to be worked up about based on what we know now.

  45. I completely disagree, he is a really good player. People need to get beyond snap gate, which he solved this year, and rewatch games to see just how good he really is.

  47. You know what? Meeting between the coaches and the players should be contentious at this point. You just finished the worst season in generations, and none of the players or coaches have won jack $h!t since they got to campus 4 years ago. Hell yes, they should all be pissed off at each other.
