  4. i think Smothers has been riding the pine here long enough. he should have gotten more time, especially with the way TM was struggling. unless he wins the job this spring, i expect him to transfer.

  11. Thompson lists: OU (just got portal qb), Indiana (just got portal qb), Auburn (just got portral qb) and Mizzou who started a freshman qb in bowl and it is reported by HB that people in Mizzou havn't heard that they are pursuing CT..... the fact that Indiana and Auburn both get portals today, makes me feel as if Thompson in N.

  12. Um, if Nelson was using helper monkeys against the opposing tackles quite a bit last season, then we *may* have multiple, bigger issues to deal with. The phrase I believe you meant is 'mano a mano' which means "hand to hand". "Mono" is Monkey and "y" means "and" in Spanish.

  14. From everything I've read, they expect the players to hit baseline numbers based on their position and then they apply that information to the film. What makes it interesting is that the combine does more for players who might move positions in the NFL which makes JoJo Domann a really interesting person this year. A couple of good examples from Nebraska would be Lamar Jackson and Nate Gerry. Lamar Jackson's physical profile for cornerback wasn't the best but he did have very good profile for a safety. However, when you watch his film, you see that he was not comfortable playing in zone and is very late breaking on guys who enter his zone. His below average speed at CB mixed with the fact that he could only play CB made him go undrafted despite being "better" in college than some guys that got drafted. Gerry might have below average athleticism for a safety in the NFL but really fits the profile for a modern off ball linebacker. When you look at his film at Nebraska, we saw a guy that is comfortable coming up and making a play in run coverage, understands the zone he covers, and is very physical. So his film and combine suggested he could be a contributor at a different position.

  15. The only thing wrong with Logan Smothers is he’s not the new guy. I’m just giddy about the new guy… I bet he’s the greatest ever!

  18. Per Rivals, the 2020 dual threat quarterbacks final rankings 1. Bryce Young - Alabama 2. Luke Doty - South Carolina 3. Hudson Card - Texas (started over CT this year; replaced by CT) 4. Logan Smothers - Nebraska 5. 6. 7. 8. Chubba Purdy - Florida State

  19. The fact that Republicans refuse to censure or push back on MTG in any way tells you everything you need to know about her place in the party, and that party's direction.

  21. Jon Stewart once again being the hero we need but don't deserve. He was recently shooting the s#!t with some of his (I believe) writing team on his podcast, and they started joking about the Harry Potter films and how the goblins that run the bank have more than zero resemblance to Jews. Here's that link: Then, ALL of the media jumped on to the, "Jon Stewart accuses J.K. Rowling of Anti-Semitism" narrative. But Jon wasn't having it, and issued a very strong rebuttal here:

  22. I know you believe that and I appreciate the fact that you don't want her to be. The fact is though, she has major support from voters, donors and the leaders of the party. That tells a different story than what you hope for. Hopefully Republicans like you grow in number. But, I'm not seeing it at this time.

  23. Honest question - how much of the above would, at least in part, benefit from Biden's Build Back Better plan? Someone (I think you) brought up the New Deal under FDR a few pages back, which I thought was an interesting parallel. There can never be a modern version of the New Deal if people don't have the ears to hear. I'm from one of the many 10-20,000 population range towns in Nebraska. I have, my whole life, and even still when I come back to visit, witnessed plenty of examples of folks shooting the s#!t and referring to black folks and hispanic folks by racial slurs, and in the same sitting bought a beer for someone of that ethnic/racial identity who walked in to the establishment later on. It's a strange dynamic - the racism is very abstract and usually/hopefully fairly innocuous, but to pretend it's not there to some degree in almost everyone is a bit naive imo.

  27. 147 republicans voted to NOT certify the election....after they cleared the capitol that day. many more were planning on joining those 147 before the riots.. it was a widespread plan to overthrow the actual election. and most republicans side with the attempted overthrow of the election. it's absolutely crazy that there are defenders of those who led the insurrection......but here we are.

  28. Not arguing that he shouldn't have fixed things sooner, but a couple things make this less black and white. 1. Undefeated season at UCF got him thinking he knew the best way to do everything. 2. COVID messing with practices, schedules, etc. 3. He tried bringing in new specialists and a new analyst, it just failed miserably.

  30. That's per capital, man. A person in an urban area benefits from 4 dollars of philanthropic spending for every one dollar a rural person benefits from. Again, that statement was made to support the general argument that rural Americans are left behind be the current systems to address poverty and income inequality in the nation. - Philanthropic giving is part of that system. YUP!!! Cuz a REPUBLICAN wrote, what's the matter with Kansas......

  33. I hear you. Hopefully after this surge, we'll allow our mindset to evolve as this virus has. Hopefully industry-wide some lessons have been learned about providing sick time so employees can feel ok about staying home when their experiencing symptoms, be it cold, flu, etc. That alone could keep us from having bad disease seasons.

  35. Some projection data I’ve been seeing seems to be a week or two later than what your predicting. Sometime First two weeks of February. Sharp downturn then levels off for a month or so mid way down then another sharp downturn early April. Assuming no other variants that take over Omicron. But I like your guess better!!

  41. Now put your top players on ST and make the unit an actual factor in games. No more backups and walk-ons manning special teams. I think it was DeJon Gomes who tweeted this past season after yet another ST debacle that if he was a Blackshirt he'd be in the coach's office demanding to be on Special Teams. I don't know if the coaches are keeping the top players off ST or the players don't want to do it, but that has to change.
