  1. Nebraska has a pretty sizable immigrant population from the Middle East. They work in our packing plants where Whites won't work. They are good people and good neighbors. I'm not really sure a riot half the world away changes any of that. What does this even mean? Who are "our elites?" What is "the Islamist problem?" Is that anything like Hitler's "Jewish problem?"

  2. Tell me you're bigoted with out really telling me you're bigoted. You do know there are many christians who have immigrated in mass from various countries across the middle east and that the majority of muslim immigrants don't cause any problems in their new country.

  3. Lots of reasons sure, I'm alluding to that was our chance to go over the top with NIL and it just isn't happening here no matter what people think is going on. We aren't in the same class as these other schools and we'd need to be #1 to make up for the rest of our shortcomings.

  4. NU is in the kiddie pool of NIL. Miami just signed a K-State hoops transfer to an $800k deal and we’re bragging about giving an entire football roster that amount

  5. Why does this have to take 5 more weeks? It's obvious he never abused her if you just listen to the phone calls (of course, that isn't enough evidence, but 5 more weeks seems like a lot). She is the worst kind of woman because she's using what does happen to many women to her advantage and making it harder for them to win cases where abuse actually did occur.

  7. NONSENSE!!!!!!! It doesn’t fit the narrative that we suck and we need to fire our coach.

  8. 10000%. And we’re going to have to pay a premium because we’re Nebraska. Meanwhile we’re bragging about kids making $50 tweeting out an ad for Runza. Wonder when we will start taking this seriously- hopefully when the next coach is in.

  9. My favorite student I've had this year (out of 593) is an immigrant from Afghanistan. And she was fasting for Ramadan, so it's safe to assume she is Muslim... She will do some really cool things for the U.S. And I'll add, I've also taught my own kids this year! edit: And thinking back over 11 years, my second favorite student might have been an Muslim immigrant from Iraq when I was at Lincoln NE. She was always respectful and wanted to focus on learning. I've also seen here presence on FB with former students, and she has turned out great! Am I biased, or are Muslim parents better at raising respectful students? I don't know...

  10. I'm just trying to imagine what would happen in red states in the USA if a Dem POTUS candidate went around burning Bibles at his/her campaign appearances... I'm not condoning the riots, but to pretend "christians" are above this is silly. Many of them feel persecuted just because the Starbucks cup says happy holidays... People suck. No need to attach muslim/christian/jewish to any of it... Edit: Again, I'm am not for the riots. But I'd say immigration from Muslim countries can be a great thing as it would teach many "christians" that the world is full of beliefs and cultures. And in a free world, those differences should be respected. Now if zealots break laws, Christian or Muslim, or any other religious group, book'em Danno! If anything, the actions of the rioters shows what can happen when everyone, from top to bottom, is forced to believe the same thing. The migrants are coming from places that it might possibly be punishable by death to believe in something other than the Koran...

  11. Huh? Nebraska is doing just fine with NIL. They were way ahead of the curve setting up and though the University hasn't talked specifics that I have seen, Our players are making serious bank. Opendorse is one of the biggest NIL companies out there. According to Wikipedia, as of July 2019, Opendorse was on pace to become the largest sports content publisher following a $3.1M round of funding. It's not a coincidence that it's run by Blake Lawrence and Adi Kunalic and is headquarters is about 2 blocks from Memorial Stadium. Not to mention the half a dozen other companies and organizations that Nebraska is partnered with that our players are using through . ABM (a Nebraska NILcollective ) has gotten players over $3.5M so far as of a few weeks ago, and that doesn't include the Brandr Group, NilBraska, or the new N100 marketplace (https://n100-husker.com/) or the a certain booster club in Omaha that is charging members $5k for membership and is then paying some serious change to players to come speak at the dinner and maybe watch a little film. Hell Trey Palmer hasn't played a down at Nebraska yet but he has a deal for a Nebraska NFT for $4700. I wouldn't be worried too much about these guys moving on.

  15. There is no taunting/harassing the board as you say. There is no obvious intent as you say. Calling something incredibly insincere in the P&R forum is your own opinion, and misinterpretation, on a message board. But also, anybody can disagree with your opinion as well, on a message board. I am getting tired of false accusations when opinions are different. Can we please stop that.

  16. Yea maybe for him specifically. That might be more of an indictment that they really didn’t try very hard to keep him cause I can almost guarantee he’s not making more than Quinn Ewers.

  20. Yeah I just can’t even fathom that we literally had two former Nebraska players at the forefront of this and NU doesn’t have a collective the size of Tennessee or TAMU or Miami. We’re JUST NOW opening up general fan donations to this on top of what the boosters are pooling together. And apparently there’s “no money” after we just went through one of the biggest bull markets in history. We can’t even put a good enough deal together to get a legacy kid in Dylan Raiola- Meanwhile Tennessee is paying 5* QBs with no connection to the school from California $8M while also planning for a total stadium renovation on top of it. TAMU signs 8 top 100 defensive lineman in ONE CLASS and we’re taking visits from a DT that had a half a sack in 4 years lmao Gerrod Lambrecht (and his boy HCSF) are complete and total clowns.

  21. If this is the case it’s just classic Nebraska not reading the room and being ready for a big change related to how the sport functions in the modern era. Two former Nebraska players leading the way in the pay for play space and we’re focused on raising funds for something that mattered 8 years ago. Just beyond classic.

  23. Be careful reporting news in the world. This is sensitive material, especially for some of the self-proclaimed non-christians on this board, who have openly slammed the door closed on Christianity, but will speak kindly on behalf of muslim culture, people and their religion. I would hope we all can agree, it is horrible to burn bibles (Christian, Jewish, Islam, etc), and just as bad, is the evil behavior to start riots that burn buildings and wound people for it. It's not peaceful, and it is incredibly insensitive and hateful. Let us pray for a peaceful resolution for all.

  24. If you believe we are a top 5 NIL school then I got some prime oceanfront property in Hall County to sell you. A&M paid $20M+ for their recruiting class. Tennessee is paying $8M for a QB. OU is giving every football player $50k. Miami just paid $800k for a basketball player. Kentucky just kept the national basketball player of the year from going to the NBA by giving him $2M. *Yes, I know the schools are not paying the players. ABM said they have raised more the $3.5M, but so far has only paid out $850k. Hopefully the other $2.6M gets to the athletes sooner or later.

  25. https://www.euronews.com/2022/03/17/emmanuel-macron-unveils-policies-as-he-seeks-second-presidential-term The article linked is a small portion of his policies. He would never get elected as a Democrat in the US. He also would never get elected as a Repulican. Probably why I like him.

  26. "Being the third time on campus I really just wanted to get to know the new staff, talk to them and get to know everyone better. There aren't any planned trips for Akana at the moment. He does want to get out to some of the schools that are a little further away soon. "Right now I am just heading home and will start traveling again in the middle of May," Akana said. "I want to go to Alabama, LSU and those schools that are out there that are further away." Akana says that Nebraska will be there all the way to the end for him. He hasn't eliminated any teams yet and says that he will be back in Lincoln for a week that allows him to take in a football game and a volleyball game. "Most definitely. I am leaving all of my options open and still taking things in. I am definitely getting back to Lincoln this fall where I can see a game and see my sister play." There has been no thought given to official visits yet by Akana. He isn't even sure when he will start taking his official visits. "I haven't even started thinking about my official visits yet. I don't know if I will be taking any official visits this summer or not."

  28. IMHO, looking at what other schools are spending, NU is WAY behind the other schools. The reality is simply now, not just "pay to play", but "pay to compete". Until we are paying schollie OL $50k/year (see A&M) we will struggle. That is the new landscape of college football. Recruiting, portal transfer etc.... Even before NIL, NU was losing as our record continues to be in the minus column for wins 5 years in a row. We either adapt to the new landscape or truly become an also ran with no chance to compete on the national stage.

  29. There’s a pretty big difference in the college bonding out $100M in a low interest rate environment to build a facility and tying up the majority of your donor capital in that. And I’m not even saying it’s true. “If this is the case” frankly I don’t think NU and our donors have the balls to play in the big boy NIL section. Which is yet another strike against us moving forward in trying to regain some semblance of relevance.

  31. https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/24/politics/utah-democrats-evan-mcmullin-mike-lee/index.html Utah Dems actually decide to back a former Republican running as an Independent for US Senate. Remind us again which party is moving away from where it was... A majority of voters are just craving rational people. How pathetic does this have to get? edit: Utah was also the state the had two candidates appear in a commercial together to explain that no one was a "bad guy" in 2020. I never thought I'd have Utah high on my places to live!

  32. Herbster is the guy that is "Trump endorsed" and loves to remind everyone. Never mind that it turns off like 70% of Nebraskans; but only about 40% of NE Republicans... And at least 35% of the 40% of "eye rollers" will be more than happy to vote for him rather than a D. Lindstrom needs to win the primary! First time in a long time I'd be happy to vote for a Republican twice (primary and general).

  34. Finally got around to watching (binging) this weekend. TBH I was quite concerned I’d made a mistake after ep1. Forced myself through ep 2 and then it really got going. By the time I’d finished I thought it was brilliant. I will say for those who aren’t keenly aware of the MCU, Infinity War and End Game are absolute prerequisites before attempting this if you want it to make any sense at all. I thought it was great. Edit- And BTW, it’s probably best to watch everything in the MCU before Infinity War and End Game. Everything is intertwined and related and it’s all good enough to be well worth the time.
