  1. I assume that you identify as a man and use he/him pronouns. Is that accurate? What would you say if I started referring to you as "she" or "her," or if I told everyone that you were not really a man. You have chosen to be called "nic" on this board, but what if I decide to start calling you Nikki or Nicole or Nikkita. What if we end up using the same restroom and laugh at you and tell you that the ladies room is down the hall. What if you ask me politely to stop, but this only intensifies my actions. I refuse to acknowledge that you are a man and am now mocking you for being feminine. My friends join me, also referring to you as "she" and "Nicole." This goes on for months. Would you consider this intentional misgendering to be harassment? Why or why not?

  5. I see your point, but we already brought in 2 upperclass WR transfers. I would have put getting a Jr/Sr tight end way ahead of getting a 3rd WR transfer. At least we have bodies at WR, at TE all we have is Voke and a lot of guys who have never seen game action and get hurt every 7th practice.

  11. The misuse of pronouns being or not being sexual harassment would depend entirely on the context of the misuse. There's definitely a certain way that could go down that would qualify, much in the same way where if I was constantly making remarks at work to my female coworker about her huge boobs and how great they are would also qualify as sexual harassment. It doesn't have to be physical, but we really don't know enough about this situation to have a good evaluation yet.

  13. Note - this article Do we have a thread discussing congress' stock shenanigans? This is actually a "both sides" issue. Congress should not be allowed to profit from their insider knowledge. I think a majority of voters, no matter their political affiliation, would agree with that. And yet we have this: Members of Congress Who Beat $SPY in 2021 Congressman Austin Scott is catching the eyes of investors today following a report on how well politicians’ stocks did compared to SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) in 2021. The list highlights 35 members of Congress that outpaced SPY last year with Austin Scott leading it with his stocks. The Congressman represents Georgia’s 8th congressional district and has been doing so since 2011. Of the 35 members of Congress on the list, 19 of them are Democrats and 16 of them are Republicans. While not as many Republicans beat out SPY last year, they make up for it with the top five performers all being from the conservative party. Unusual Whales, the account behind the Austin Scott stocks trend, calls out trades made by politicians in 2021 as unusually timed. “Big legislative events (such as the Infrastructure Bill getting passed by the Senate) were often preceded by politicians trading in the sectors affected. There were tons of unusual trades where politicians made millions of dollars.” It’ll be interesting to see how investors react to this list in the coming year. Some may take to following politicians, such as Austin Scott or Nancy Pelosi, when picking stocks to invest in considering how many beat out SPY last year. This article stems from a tweet by unusual_whales on the twitter, an account that follows the markets.

  14. I prefer the constituents correct their own mistakes versus political which hunts. It doesn’t always work out that way. MTG is up next. I guess she is allowed to run now. Suing to keep a candidate from running seems bush league. I say let her constituency vote her out. if they don’t, well, more fodder for the news media. Is she in a primary race?

Can we all agree that Hickman is a non-factor, or are people still holding out hope for him?

  21. I guess, but Washington's stats are nothing special. 25 catches for 366 yards and 3 TDs over 3 years. Could this mean that a current WR on the roster is leaving or a WR recruit is not making it to campus? Is the guy from NM they brought in hurt worse than we know?

  22. I guess we need another WR? Former Texas wide receiver Marcus Washington will be in Lincoln this weekend for an official visit as the Huskers continue to court as many additions as possible from the transfer portal. Washington is considering other programs as well including Purdue and Utah, as he looks for a new home following a four-year stint with the Longhorns. Because of the COVID season, Washington could have two seasons of eligibility available to him and he still has a redshirt available. https://247sports.com/college/nebraska/Article/Nebraska-recruiting-Former-Texas-Longhorn-receiver-Marcus-Washington-set-to-visit-this-weekend-187675987/

  30. Those are great points, and no, the actual allegations have not been revealed. We only have the spin from the parents of one of the accused students. Supporting your thought, the most recent article I could find indicates that this case may indeed be a matter of gender-based harassment, but not necessarily sexual in nature:

  31. Has anyone seen the actual Title IX complaint? Sexual harassment is a different thing than sex-based harassment, and the distinction would be important. Sexual harassment has a distinct sexual component. Unwanted touching, groping, comments about sexual acts, etc. Sex-based harassment can be something like treating women differently than treating men, or giving women preferential job status or giving men a higher salary because of their gender. Sex-based harassment sounds like what's going on here. What the charge should be (I don't think there should be a Title IX charge here, based on the minimal information I've seen, mind you) is that the kids harassed a student based on their sex. Not "sexual harassment." It sounds pedantic but it's an important distinction. If the charge is sex-based harassment and not sexual harassment, it's no surprise that the parent would read sex harassment as sexual harassment. It would also not surprise me if the Title IX complaint was created by the school staff that they may mistakenly accuse them of the wrong thing. People conflate these two things all the time.

  32. Mitt Romney in Utah is probably fine, it's a conservative state but not quite stuck in the MAGA-verse as say Western Nebraska or something. Liz Cheney's political career is over. And the number of Republicans disgusted over Trump and are willing to switch parties is far outweighed by the number of blue-collar white votes who now show up in droves. For every Republican horrified about what's happening to the party, 3 people are behind them who love what they see. The destruction of our institutions - elites as they see them - is great.

  33. Misuse of pronouns is not sexual harassment in my opinion. If a boy tells another boy he plays baseball like a girl (from the Sand Lot)….just kidding. You are correct in that we do not know the full story yet. Perhaps there was inappropriate touching or other factors. We also do not know what recourse the school took other than the mother’s claim that the school only sent an email that a sexual harassment claim was headed her way. We should be able to verify the email. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

  34. What does it say about Frost’s ‘eye’ for WR talent when our best receiver, so far, is a transfer from Dakota, out of small bus load of guys? And still recruiting them with so many other positions with inadequate depth or ify starters. I really dont recall that many issues with his receivers costing us games. Other areas of much greater value and need imo.

  37. The difference is that the Democrats had four or five candidates splitting the centrist vote, while Bernie Sanders led the pack by commanding nearly 100% of the left/activist/youth wing (Liz Warren could play both fields). So the DNC did the really simple math and realized any one centrist could probably fend off Sanders, and in some backroom maneuvering pulled it off just in time for Super Tuesday. The GOP never had that math. Trump and Cruz pulled way ahead early leaving Bush and Rubio in the single digits. Throw in Ben Carson, and Republicans had made a clear choice of the most inflammatory, disliked, and incompetent candidates available. In other words, the reasonable Republican candidates may have split the reasonable vote, but even added together they didn't come close to what Trump or even Cruz commanded. We're not even talking about the Kasich wing in these primaries. We're talking about candidates fighting to out-Trump Trump.

There have been hundreds in the last couple of decades, but I don't remember any reports on the havoc they wreak when they arrive.
