My dad was a D-Day, Omaha Beach survivor. He helped liberate a Nazi concentration camp. He never talked much about WWII except to say, "Don't think it can't happen here." He was absolutely correct. Those words ring loud and clear in my ears, today. We came precariously close to losing our democracy to an autocratic, narcissistic, power lusting, egomaniacal despot, Donald Trump. Trump is like Hitler in many ways, blaming our societal ills on minorities, trashing the free press, lying to the populace, establishing an administration with the only qualification of being loyal to him, creating vengeance and spreading false narratives about opponents, establishing right winged propaganda media outlets, trashing our Constitution to fit his needs, conducting and condoning corrupt political practices, establishing an extreme radicalized cult voting base, the list goes on and on. And, we are not out out of the woods, yet. Wake the hell up America.

Opinionated teachers, from both political extremes, that speak out of turn will always exist. Blowing up the public and standardized school system might actually make it worse.

I don’t pretend that our Ed system is great. It’s totally screwed up. It needs an overhaul for sure. I just think it would have some pretty drastic consequences if it just “disappeared”. kind of like we’re seeing with Roe v Wade mess. But on a much larger scale since it would effect everyone, not just pregnant women. Can you imagine property taxes in Nebraska if the feds didnt chip into our public schools?!?

It sounds like your issue is with overbearing liberal teachers. Not the Dept of Education.

Look I hope I’m wrong but to me he doesn’t look that comfortable running when he did. He might be able to pick up some yards towards the sideline on a 2nd and long but he’s typically a guy who keeps his eyes down the field. He is athletic but by no means fast, enough to maybe keep the defense honest on 3 or 4 reed option plays a game but is by no means a runner of the football. either way he is 110% pass first guy

How would federal money get allocated without people working to allocate it? Special Education is also an important part of the dept. I wouldn’t trust our Governor to make sure all kids have equal access to education, would you?

Dept of ED should be gone, federally funding should still be a thing but with no input from them. My guess, 95% of teachers are pretty much like me and @funhusker, we go in, we teach the s#!t, we crack a few jokes with the kids and the day is over. My students know. very little about my personal life and even less about things I am into or my thoughts on s#!t. There are probably more crazy libs teachers that spout of s#!t but it really is few and far between.

What’s annoying is many of these folks scream that “shop” And other classes like it need to be brought back. A HUGEchunk of our funding comes from a federal Perkins fund.

It will be interesting to see if these states with medieval women’s healthcare restrictions start to see an exodus of women of child bearing age. I can’t imagine many younger, brighter, educated freedom loving folks would choose to live in Backwardsville USA. It will take some time to show up but it’s bound to factor in to people’s choices.

One unintended consequence of this war is Russia has let the whole world know they are not a real threat to NATO or any moderate power unless they use nukes. In a real war with NATO they would get destroyed.

What are those? Did our line make many of them last year? I think you have a point, I also think Held & Co. had their own ideas and kept trying to force their own players into the spotlight when they were clearly not the best option. It always frustrated me (and presumably the players) how the coaches tended to throw the smallest backs into the teeth of a defense in short yardage situations. And too often a player would have a good series then not be seen again for 2-3 possessions. Hard to develop flow if they only have one or two series a half.

To go 10-2 we'd need to go 8-1 or 7-2 in conference. We have won 7 conference games over the last 3 years combined.

I know it was only a Spring Game, and I know we were missing some parts on the O Line, but that was not the kind of performance that leads me to think 8+ wins, or even "bowl game."
