  1. It's not about the defense getting better. It's about removing people that are poisoning the culture of the program. If Mickey's firing someone, it's because keeping them on board would do more damage than letting them go.

  2. The next DC absolutely has to get rid of the garbage celebrations when their QB misfires an open receiver and our DBs celebrate like Neon Deion that we just broke up the play when we are down by 3 scores already.

  3. Yes I am concerned about it because it speaks to a s#!tty undisciplined culture. It’s like “hey look at me” when you have been getting your a$$ kicked the whole game. No good teams do this garbage, not even at the high school level.

  4. Correction. This is a mess getting cleaned up.

  5. We were giving up 500 YARDS A GAME under Chinander. Against Northwestern, Georgia Southern and North Dakota. What planet are you people on thinking he was part of the solution to this season's problems?

  6. We've given up 500 yards to three opponents. The season is dead with Chinander in place.

  7. I'm hearing Ruud and Duval might be next. Also Sean and Dan Dillon, the Director and Assistant Director of Player Personnel.

  8. Firing assistants is the Head Coach's job. The AD shouldn't bypass his coach and make personnel moves.

  10. This one is gonna be a rant, and I may get run for it, but at this point, after hearing all of the talk after this morning's news, I don't rightly care at this point.... I'm hearing all kinds of talk after Coach Chin was fired about how wonderful a guy he was, how much of a standup dude he was, how friendly he was. That's all good, and I'm sure he was a standup guy, real great to get along with. We all know folks like that. People that are ride or die, nice folks who have your back through thick and then. People you can confide in, people that you trust. News flash - that doesn't mean that they are the best person to do the job you hire them for. I've been in the tech industry over 22 years. I've known folks that I'd trust to watch over my children in an emergency. I wouldn't hire them to do what I do, though. Why? Because they weren't the best fit for the job. They weren't very good at the job. Oh, they gave it a 110% effort, and I loved them for that. But their best wasn't good enough. Which leads me to one of the major issues since Frank Solich was so unceremoniously fired years ago. You are hired to do a job. Period. If your job is to win football games....and your loyalty to your friends is getting in the way of that....well.... Bill Callahan Mike Riley Bo Pelini (to some extent) and now, Frost. I am SICK and TIRED of hearing how standup a person is when it's obvious they aren't the right person for the job. Who is? I don't know, but if you have a person driving the bus who is continuously running into parked cars...would you let that person continue to drive?!? Hell no! College football in the 21st century is a BUSINESS. It's a multi BILLION dollar business. Tough decisions have to be made. Chin should have not just been gone last year - he should never have gotten the job. Last year was a better year for him because he rode JoJo until he couldn't any longer. And it shows this year. Dabo Swinney fired two assistants in 2011 because they weren't meeting with success. Brent Venables escorted an assistant out for the use of a racial slur. Wasn't any "oh, he was a good guy, he made a mistake." Guy. Had. To. Go. Georgia Tech fired 3 assistants a few years ago (and their head guy needs to get fired soon as well). Arkansas won 9 games last year, and still fired an assistant coach. And.... Frank Solich fired Craig Bohl after 2 seasons after the defense took a turn in the wrong direction. When is nepotism going to stop being the norm in the athletic department in Lincoln, NE? The "good ol boy" network only works when you're winning games. If you're losing - you have to put on your big boy pants, make a decision to let a close friend go, and put folks into a spot that will help YOU get the kids into the best position to win games for them AND you as the head guy. It's nothing personal, it's business, and it's your job. So - win, lose or draw....I applaud the changes in Lincoln. Even if Coach Joseph doesn't win the job - these changes are PAST DUE. And the expectation that you are guaranteed a job each year? Screw all that. You need to develop players and deliver success in the classroom AND on the field. If you can't do that - you need to find another place to land other than Lincoln, Nebraska. My rant is over, I go prepare to get things ready for House of the Dragon now....

  12. Is anybody’s blood just boiling right now about this absolute crap show that Frost was running ? Chinander never deserved a P5 job , or Ruud or Travis Fisher. The former offensive assistant clowns never deserved to be here either. How did Frost leave this program in worst shape than Mike Riley ? Just great that Frost and Chinander can run off with millions. It just ain’t right.

  13. Thanks - I'm just fed up. We're four games into the season, and the season is already over in most people's minds. It's ridiculous. I comment on other fan boards and even they are scratching their heads at some of the decisions made. How the last two ADs can give an extension to a couple of head football coaches who have done nothing to deserve it. How guys were allowed to keep their jobs after abysmal performances on the field. How undisciplined the football team is on gameday. By gawd, this is NEBRASKA. We're a college football blue blood for crying out loud. We were once Conan, strong, mighty warrior: But hubris got the best of us, and we were captured and caught at Thulsa Doom's place. We were placed on the Tree of Woe, and all the teams and places around us are picking at us like vultures. I'm waiting on us to get tired of the ish, bite the hell outta those vultures... Get offa the tree, and come back mighty as heck

  14. We should turn the rest of the season into Survivor - 1 coach gets axed after each game and the remaining coach at the end of the year gets a spot on the new staff next year.

  17. Of all the things wrong right, this is what you're concerned about? I'll take better defense and continue to not care about DB's celebrating incomplete passes.

  18. Thank f#&%ing god. Mickey at least giving them a chance.

  19. Because he f#&%ing sucks at his job? And Mickey thought he was so terrible he couldn’t even spot the rest of the Interm season. Maybe if the staff is in such an uproar now they should’ve gathered together and called out the head guy. Or maybe they should’ve recruited/tackled in practice or tried harder to not make this s#!t show occur that got their boss fired

  20. I see we’ve reached the “Urban Meyer would rather coach at Nebraska than Alabama” part of the coaching search.

  21. You guys are crapping on Leipold when his Kansas team would whip the sh$& out of us if we played on Saturday. We have the finest arm chair quarterbacks in college football round here. We need to be respectable again, and compete for the division. Leipold would do that quickly. We will NEVER win a national championship again. NEVER. Get that through your skulls and get some realistic expectations. You'll be much more satisfied in life.

  22. When Chinander is the 2nd highest paid employee in the state, there needs to be some accountability. If Mickey is going to hold players to the high level of accountability, the same goes for coaches. Message sent to any starters not doing their job!

  28. Hated when he was hired at first but he did progress the defense some what, until this year. Good for Mickey , doing everything he can to make something happen.

  29. Exactly. Again, after Solich was fired, everybody thought it was a plum job and that top coaches would be lining up for it. People were talking on forums like this - just like they are now - and throwing around names of top coaches - even guys like Bill Parcels or Steve Mariucci. And then a guy named Houston Nutt said up yours, he'd rather stay with the Razorback Hogs. Ended up with a last minute desperation hire in Calahan. Forget Urban Meyer. He isn't coming. Trev needs to find the diamond in the rough.

  30. So since your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice is urban Meyer, Round out your top 5 for us

  31. This is why I don't see the check book coming out for Urban. Who can say he won't come here, take a paycheck, and end up going to Notre Dame or such team after one or two years? Sure he might get us back to maybe 6 wins in year one, but this job right now is not Ohio St or Florida. He won games at those two stops easier. He didn't inherit a team that needed to win 6 games. It is much easier to take a 6-7 win team and win 8-9 games and look like a savior. I agree, he is a really good football coach, and I would maybe give him a try, but to think that this job is as easy as going to Ohio St or Florida is so misleading. Even Utah has some instate recruits that are really good.

  32. He was a liability through the first 4 games, why would that change going forward?

  33. I feel little to zero sympathy for college coaches at P5 schools who get fired. They make ridiculous coin, get to travel in style, stay at 5 star hotels, get perks on auto leasing, free meals, wear shorts and sweats to work, etc, etc. All you gotta do is not suck. And even if you do suck and get fired your highly likely to pick up, at minimum, a high 5 figure salary at a FCS school or low 6 figure salary at an FBS school. Rinse and repeat And people put wayyyyyy too much, "well they coach, so they must know what they are doing" on these guys...I have been around a bunch of college coaches in my life and it's not like all of them are "football savants"...a good chunk are just dudes who decided to coach because they had nothing else going on. Realize my brush is pretty big on this, there are coaches who put in the time and perfect their craft, but again there are many that are just wanting to stay on "the gravy train with biscuit wheels."

  34. Urban is the clear leader. Other guys next up: Stoops (Bob, then Mark) Dave Aranda Mike Gundy Chris Petersen Next level down: Matt Campbell Matt Rhule Dan Mullen Bill O’Brien Wild cards if this goes on way too long: Deion Sanders Jon Gruden

  36. Eh I think incompetence has a role in this too. Our soft af secondary philosophy mixed with zero pass rush has been a disaster from day 1 of frostys staff. Took nfl talent at lb and across the secondary last year to make it look somewhat serviceable.

  37. Thank you for the stats. He made a bad defense serviceable. I’m sure anyone at this point would take the 55th defense in the country.

  38. Honestly surprised it took this long.

  39. Either that means Urban is close or is the frontrunner for the Nebraska job, or Trev Alberts fumbled this hiring process already. How in the world is Urban Meyer in Lincoln all day long and as the AD you don't have a talk about him being the head coach? He should've been conversing with Urban Meyer all day yesterday. Whether you like the guy or not, one of the best coaches in college football was visiting yesterday. You have to talk to him and gauge his interest.

  40. I learned we might be lucky to win more than 2 more games this seasons which is ridiculous when there are coaches out there doing a lot more with a lot less talent. It crap that Nebraska can't develop players anymore.

  43. Not arguing against Rhule, I’m a believer. My point was that Iowa State is a far more difficult place to take to that high gear than Baylor. Temple is even easier since every program in the AAC is at risk of losing their coach as soon as they show progress. I see both guys as proven program builders.
