  1. Simple. Anybody that is not named Urban. Since Trev explicitly stated character as #1 in what he was looking for in the new coach that automatically rules out Meyer from the get go. And he is the only coach on the planet capable of turning this ship around. The Meyer mob knows exactly who Trev is considering and are none too happy with the choices he has made since anybody not named Urban less than or equal to Mike Riley by default. Regardless of their record or the programs they may have rebuilt through the years. In their eyes Trev is now on the hot seat and may not make it to Thanksgiving in which case their approved replacement can then name Urban as head coach (regardless if wants to come here or coach again at all).

  2. You folks who want Urban Meyer, I assume you didn't watch the second half of the game when he came in to cover for Gus? Because he laid out pretty clearly the rebuild he thought necessary for the Nebraska job. Nothing about what he said sounded like a job he ever had, or ever wanted.

  3. For those belaboring all the stories coming out about Frost's tenure as HC, and wanting to move on, it's important to understand not only that something failed, but also why it failed.

  4. Folks, when you give up over 600 yards to a team like Georgia Southern, it's not because of strength & conditioning issues...

  5. Matt Campbell, Lance Leipold, Mark Stoops, Dave Aranda, Luke Fickell, Matt Ruhle, and Jamie Chadwell are going to lose games this year. But do you know who is going to go undefeated in 2022? Urban Meyer

  7. I've heard a lot of talk of Duval manipulating numbers to make testing seem better than it is, and over working players and causing health and injury concerns. These are rumors/reports from multiple stops for Duval. The one thing I can say for certain, the athletes aren't passing the eye test when it comes to what I see on the field. Mobility is not great, I see our line get pushed around a lot, so strength seems to be in question, and frankly we just don't look fast enough out there compared to our opponents so far. All of these things are things I would put on his shoulders. I think this is one area where we have been lacking since Bo's days and can definitely improve in.

  8. I fail to see how Trev would be on the hot seat in all of this. He came in when Frost was already not getting the job done. It's been stated that he wanted to fire Frost last year and didn't have the support to do so. So, he forced Frost to make coaching changes on the staff. When this season started as a s#!t show, he took action. Now, it's his job to hire a good coach. To my knowledge, the athletic program is being ran well other than the two main men's programs not winning. And, he's taking action to fix the biggest one.

  13. Is the bolded actually correct? I looked at his record from his record from his fourth year on because the majority of the players should have been his players. In 2019, he went 7-6. All but two of the teams he lost to were ranked in the top 15 at seasons end but two. Those were KState who finished 8-5 and Okie State who finished 8-5. I wouldn't call either of those two teams cellar-dweller. All games lost in 19' were close games with the exception of Notre Dame in the bowl game. In 2020, he went 9-3. The three teams he lost to all finished in the top 20 at seasons end. In 2021, he finished 7-6. All but two of the teams he lost to were ranked in the top 25 at seasons end but two. Those were West Virginia who finished 6-7 and Texas Tech who finished 7-6. At Iowa State with his players, he has yet to lose to a team that wasn't bowl eligible. He has only lost once to a team that finished the season with a losing record. He has one top 10 finish. Iowa State won just four conference games in the three seasons before Campbell became their coach. Since he's been at Iowa State, they've pretty much fallen into the 50th-60th ranked recruiting class per 247. In terms of coaching, he's doing a really good job with the talent he has. Now, here's where the arguments could be had. Can he recruit better to Nebraska than he has at Iowa State? Only time will tell, but it appears he's a much younger version of Bill Snyder. I think it is also a positive that he played defensive lineman, and he has coached offensive linemen. These are the two areas where we are the most lacking. I wouldn't be disappointed if he's named the next coach.

  14. WTF are you even talking about and why does it matter if people adjusted their number of predicted wins? Some people would call that smart, revising their prediction based on how the team actually looks in games instead of sticking with some number they pulled out of their a$$ before the season started. Or are you wiser, more knowledgeable than the rest of us? ….no, that’s not a real question, it’s rhetorical, we know you aren’t.

  18. If you find your program suddenly awash in tales of drunken behavior, coed banging, missed meetings, insulted recruits, player mutiny and rampant arrogance, you might be excused for bringing character into consideration for your new coaching search. For a lot of reasons. One of them is that every recruit has a mother.

  22. Word is that some highly influencial boosters (and a certain someone whose name rhymes with "Mom Cosnorne") stepped in and prevented Green from allowing Trev to drop the hammer. The first three games of the year went a long ways towards showing these certain peoples the light, and a few of these boosters came up with the cash to get rid of him ASAP.

  23. Dude I am on board that Urban could do it but its hyperbole like this that makes the whole notion sound ridiculous. There are dozens of coaches out there that could do it over a longer timeline than Urban. Could he do it faster than most? Sure, if he's at the gear he was at in 2016. Is he? You and I have no idea. Does he even want to coach? If he does, why here instead of ASU or Auburn? Both easier recruiting jobs. You guys are assuming a ton with no real basis in reality. In whose eyes is trev getting fired before thanksgiving?? Lol this is qanon-level fake insider nonsense.

  24. Some of y'all don't seem to grasp the concept of "odds of being successful" and just want to cherry-pick data points for whatever fits your argument. When you just look at pure "odds of being successful" based on total body of work, as far as realistic (maybe semi-realistic) candidates, it's Urban and everyone else is a distant second. If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you because it's not even close. I don't care if you want to cherry-pick, "but he's 58" or "but Florida and Ohio St aren't the same as Nebraska" or whatever. He's got the best "odds of being successful" by a long shot. Does that mean he's a sure thing? No, there's no such thing. Hell, we could hire Saban and he may fizzle out because Nebraska just wasn't the right fit or he's gotten old and complacent or whatever. But the odds are best with Urban and that shouldn't even be up for debate. That's not to say someone else can't be successful, but the odds go way down. Could an up-and-comer like Matt Campbell or Lance Leipold be the next Saban and Iowa State/KU is their Sparty? Sure. But for the few of those that hit, there are a ton more who never even come close. They could work, they just have a lot lower odds of working than Urban. A LOT lower. Of the names I've seen thrown around, plus or minus a pro or con here or there, pretty much everyone after Urban has about the same odds of being successful. I've seen a lot of arguments for and against all of them and it really comes down to all of them being a total crap shoot. And I just can't get excited about (m)any of them because the result will most likely just be rinse and repeat of more of what we've been going through. None of them has a differentiating quality that move the needle much at all. Which is probably why I'm all in on Deion Sanders after Urban. At least he's got some differentiating qualities that would excite me. He may be a bigger risk than the rest of the prospects (not by much) but he's also got a lot more upside if he does work. At least our recruiting would instantly skyrocket (can't honestly say that for any of the others). And even if we miss on him, which we're likely to do with any of them, at least he'd be entertaining as hell along the way and have Nebraska instantly in the spotlight once again. Something we haven't had in forever.

  25. I don't see the big donors letting that happen. When you really step back for a moment and think about it, we only have four home games left this season. The university has a few big donors that will not let the sellout streak die. They'll find a way to cover these next four games. Then it's on Trev to make the right hire with the head coach position. Get that right, and fans will be drinking the Kool-aid again before the spring game. Get through these next four games (covered by donors) Make the right hire at head coach. Begin the process next year to start reducing Memorial Stadium's overall capacity to help preserve the sellout streak into the future.

  26. Not sure who i want as the new head coach but i know it’s not bill obrien. He told the psu kids to stick around, was gonna rebuild the program…then acted like he had no idea sanctions were coming after the sandusky scandal, and left those kids high and dry. So much for obrien’s lions

  28. You mean its possible for someone to get higher ranked recruiting classes at a school with more resources and than at a school with lesser resources? From listening to people on here what you recruit at School X is what you will recruit at School Y.

  29. For anyone who thinks Ajay Allen went back to Louisiana after surgery, here is the full quote: “(Allen) had surgery yesterday,” Joseph said. “He’s back home; his mother’s in town. He’s doing fine. He came out of surgery well. He’s going to miss the rest of the season. It’s going to hurt us, but Gabe’s the backup and capable of getting it done.” To me, this reads as: "back home" = out of the hospital/surgery center, back at his place in Lincoln "his mother's in town" = his mom is in Lincoln

  32. I would guess Trev probably has 5-10 "favorites" right now and is talking to a bunch of people behind the scenes. Any list like this is premature IMO. Also seeing BOB on here is interesting b/c word was we did some due diligence on him last year and Trev determined it wasn't a fit.

  38. Rural people from all over the state come into Lincoln on Friday night to spend money at stores & restaurants they don't have at home. They stay in hotels, tail gate, go to the game, and then go home. It's an entire event that people build their lives around and it doesn't have as much to do with the team being good for a lot of people as you'd think. They'll keep doing this for a long, long time.

  39. Trev was starting to see these behaviors by Frost, but Frost was shielded by Osborne, much of the fan base, and a few big boosters who loved partying with Frost. Yes, this season is a complete mess, but there are others who deserve the blame other than Trev.

  41. Ok so he lost to some pretty mediocre teams, is my point. Too inconsistent. 50-60 rated recruiting classes aren't gonna cut it. 44-34 in the Big 12, and 1-6 vs. Iowa tells me all I need to know.
