You are gonna have an influx of portal guys. There will be reaches. Happens this late in the game with a new staff.7 points

College football was better because Mike Leach was a part of it. Prayers for his family and his team and friends at MSU.5 points

Are you actually comparing Randy Gregory to Ty Robinson? They play completely different positions and asked to do different things on defense.4 points

When I say he doesn't have time, I'm not referring to the fans or administration. I'm referring to the realities of the B1G, with the additions of USC/UCLA, and likely difficult schedules that result once divisions are eliminated. Rhule is inheriting a roster devoid of talent. He's adding a bunch of reaches to a roster currently stocked full of reaches by the previous staff: Haarberg, Torres, Hardy, Androff, Carrie, Rollins, Hickman, Lynn, Malcolm, Snodgrass, Lynum, Johnson, Gates, Bretz and Williams - are all players that have been buried on the depth chart and/or passed by walk-ons at their various positions (inculding all 6 scholarship TEs). This does not include players like Fidone who have extensive injury histories that may never contribute or starting players like Benhart and Corcoran who might be the worst players at their positions in the country.4 points

It's going to be a long process. Maybe not as long as it was for Rhule at Temple or Baylor with the added advantages of the portal and NIL, but on the other side I think Rhule has a clear several year vision on how he wants to build for success long-term which will test the patience of everyone wondering, "WHY CAN'T WE WIN NOW?" If we do get to 6 wins in year one it will be a remarkable achievement as a byproduct of a good foundation and trajectory being set, but I'm not expecting much.4 points
-
This is a silly argument. Rhule has time and he's going to need it because this is a rebuild. And freaking out about the transition recruiting class is also silly. There's going to be a lot of reaches and more than reaches because the staff only has a few weeks to compete against coaches and schools that have been recruiting kids for months or years. There's only so much our coaches can do given less than 3 weeks.4 points

It's in English To the players in Hawaii (where he's from) and to the JUCO players (he played JUCO) keep the faith and keep working hard To the Nebraska fans - thank you4 points

He needs to spend scholarships on players rated higher than 0 stars. Recruiting isn't complicated. Let's not act like recruiting players unwanted by any team is a viable strategy. He doesn't have time. The roster already has no talent. The B1G is going to eat Rhule alive.4 points

Kwinten Ives will surprise alot of people. Don't let the lack of "stars" fool you. He IS 6'3", and he IS fast. Our offensive line was young and relatively small this year, and Kwinten often had to all the work to break free. He is quiet and humble, and a team player. He could easily fit into any D! program a RB, WR or DBack. I truly believe he has been overlooked by recruiters because of our school size (we graduate less around 100 per year). I am looking forward to seeing posts in the next few years about what a fantastic recruit he has become!3 points

I don't think it's going to be a layup. They beat us the last few times we have played them, even though we should have won some of those games. Sure, he could pull some in the portal. But, one big great freshman class coming in doesn't mean they are going to be great that year. Pretty tough to get a bunch of true freshmen in college all playing well together in the first couple games. It just seems like so many people are crowning them as going to be soooo much better next year just because Prime went there. I'm not buying into the hype when looking at his first year in Boulder.3 points

There's a better chance of next year being a long year than there is it being a good year.3 points

Can they improve a lot? Sure, anyone can. What I don't get is why so many people think that Colorado is all of a sudden going to be a good football team with their new coach in year 1 when we can't.3 points

I am embarrassed to write this- but a few of our guys that are leaving I had to look up and see who they were. I do not know if it is my age and forgetfulness or general malaise because we have not been as dominate as the good ole days.3 points

Hahaha... I don't give two caps what Rhule does in year 1. I'm looking at the facts, we sucked this year. We have lost 8 players to the transfer portal and several other impact players to the draft. In addition we've lost day one impact recruits due to the coaching change. Look at what we have incoming (so far) to replace them. NO ONE. We don't have a single stud lineman recruit or transfer let alone 5 coming in. Lastly, Rhule doesn't have the established connections to recruits or current players to reel in many studs through the transfer portal or on the recruiting trail. Long story short, we lose too many contributors and haven't gained enough to improve our win total. Couple that with growing pains of installing a new system/ culture and you don't have a set up for a quick turnaround. You just don't. I'm an eternal optimist. I will enjoy watching the team and hope for the best. But realistically a 3 win season is a very likely outcome for next year no matter who the coach is.3 points

Some of you guys are gluttons for punishment. We will be bad next year, anything else and you are setting yourself up for misery and you'll be wanting to fire Rhule after our first loss. We start out 0-3, win at LA Tech, Northwestern and MAYBE Maryland for a 3 win season. Anything better would be a pleasant surprise. I just don't see it happening.3 points

Hey Huskers! I know there are many of you who may have questions concerning Kwinton. He was primarily a RB at our small HS, but was also active as a receiver and DB. He is 6'3", 180 lbs, VERY fast, and great vertical leap. Great hands, great moves, and physical. Because Palmyra is a small HS in NJ, he didn't get the attention that an athlete from a big program would get, but i will assure you, he is a keeper. Our offensive line was made up of primarily sophomores, and Kwinton quite often made things happen because of his own abilities. Had he been with a large school program, he could have excelled as a RB, WR, or DB. Our small program has sent 4 or 5 other former players to D1 programs in the past 6 years, and Kwinton is easily equal to or better as a a D1 prospect. He also excels as a basketball player and T & F athlete (check his bio on NJMilesplit.com).3 points

we're still on the 'elected representatives in the US government aren't necessarily in a position of leadership' gaslight?2 points

I just don't know why abbreviations (MR or CR) are needed when Rhule is syllable and 5 letters long. Are people really saving that much time by not typing it out?2 points

There will be other WR's who transfer in (Hopefully) outside of losing Palmer, all these other players are easily replaceable. And if we don't have any WR's, run the damn ball guy will be happy2 points

Good god, I knew it was bad, but... I just looked again an the departures and additions list- we have lost literally all of our receiving core. Which had become our strongest group. Think we just have to replace Palmer? Guess again- here is everyone gone. Graduated/ went pro WR - Trey Palmer, Omar Manning, Oliver Martin TE - Chancellor Brewington, Travis Vokolek Transferring out WR - Decoldest Crawford, Kamonte Grimes Decommits ATH - Malachi Coleman, TE - Benjamin Brahmer (Iowa St.) We better have a ground game, I have no idea who Thompson might throw to otherwise...2 points

This is pretty much exactly how I feel about Sanders. He’ll do some good things at CU then bounce. And it’s not just you, his speaking feels rehearsed and curated and repeats the day’s talking point.2 points

Frost didn't win enough and that was the problem. But he took over a program that had a poor culture and changed that. I think the fact that 20 guys didn't enter the portal the next week and instead played for each other and the coaches that remained says a lot. The kids played hard ever game and always to the last play. You didn't see that from other teams who were in similar situations. MR even alluded that Frost had that going in the right direction.2 points

Me either. I think it’s because so darned few have made any impact. Guessing if it’s a player very few know, it’s maybe not a bad thing if they leave.2 points

I agree, I would contend that this is more than a reach. It doesn't mean I won't be critical considering the state of the roster.2 points

I am guessing that…. 1. no portal s add no you are at Temple and following Art Briles burn down 2. only 35 scholly players when he signed at Baylor 3. no NIL2 points

Nebraska should take all three if they can. The system allows for that. If this D is going to be attacking or have a fourth down lineman, you can have three speed rushers for LBs.2 points

Coach Leach was truly one of the most entertaining coaches in CFB. And I’ve read multiple stories about how he was even a better person. Prayers to his friends and family in this extremely difficult time2 points

I don't think his track record is applicable here. I think a .500 record is more than a reasonable expectation. If we simply didn't s#!t the bed against northwestern for their sole win of the year and georgia southern, we are a .500 team this year despite the inept coaching staff and incomplete staff midyear. Lot needs to be addressed but there are things for Rhule to work with and improve immediately.2 points
