  1. I have a difficult time believing Rhule made a good faith effort to get the best possible WR coach, and it just happened to be this child. Biggest assistant $$ pool in program history. Absolutely baffling hire.

  2. There is now way Rhule is dumb enough to hire a kid with no wr coaching experience on a rebuild . With the pool of money he got to work with and this is what he turns in???? I really hope I'm wrong but man this is lame as hell for now.

  3. Some other guys hired in their mid-20s. Hopefullly McGuire is as successful… Lincoln Riley was 25 when he was hired as Texas Tech’s WR coach Sean McVay was 25 when he was hired as Commander’s TE coach Lane Kiffin was 26 when he was hired as USC TE coach Ryan Day was 27 when he was hired as Temple’s WR coach Josh Heupel was 27 when he was hired as Arizona’s TE coach Billy Napier was 27 when he was hired as Clemson’s TE coach

  4. Did we all interpret this #24ours hashtag wrong? It literally meant we were hiring a 24 year old?

  5. Can’t wait for NU to have a game with a number of drops by the receivers and this board to freak out over the 24-year old WR coach.

  6. Rhule said he was going to have a young staff. He has proven to have a good eye for young coaches in the past. Would have liked to have someone with more experience, but just going to trust Rhule on this one.

  7. Yep, more often than not it is who you know, not what you know. It’s just the way things work. Who knows, he may end up being a great coach and Rhule is brilliant….or he sucks and Rhule was an idiot. Or more likely, we won’t really be able to tell and he’ll be judged by how the team does. I couldn’t care less about any position coach….until their room is an obvious problem.

  10. It is bad. It's not something to applaud. "Rooting for your conference" is smart. You should always root for your conference to show well in non-con games. The better they look, the better your team looks when you do well, and your team becomes more attractive to recruits by association. Being the best team in a bad conference doesn't attract good recruits. If I have one rule for college football, it's that I root for Nebraska first, conference second. Everyone else can eff themselves.

  11. Eh, trust Rhule. The past 20 years have been filled with hires people thought would work out well and things have only gotten worse here. I like the unorthodox approach. Teams across the country are winning with no name, young coaches, and big programs are getting killed with their can’t lose, big name hires. No one on this board knows any better than the man that was just hired to restore some sort of order and respect in this program. Go cry in your chili. I’m enjoying the process this time around.

  12. Gotta think it was Mickey's until he created his legal troubles. This guy's the backup and it comes back to what Rhule said, he'd rather work with someone that fits with him over an all star name.

  13. I agree that some drills are similar from program to program, but you will see that some of the most successful position coaches know and understand the position, and are able to correct bad form ie) dropping your hips coming back to the ball or or how to get out of your route. If someone is a track stud that is going to be used to play receiver and is very raw, I would like a coach that knows how to coach and not just say this is the drill I read in a book

  16. This is the head scratcher for me, has played QB, but has never played or coached WR. How is this a smart move. Also obviously Coleman knew about this which surprises me that he was comfortable with being coached by him. I was really hoping that we would have got Dailey or someone with the history of coaching the position.

  17. Dinesh D'Souza and Archy know more about what makes for a prosecutable crime. The FBI did it. Because the FBI are big Democrat supporters so they wanted to stop the transfer of power to........wait for it....a Democrat

  19. In tinfoil hat world Ray Epps is an FBI plant that instigated January 6th and every fine, upstanding citizen who stormed the Capitol was duped by Epps and everyone in Trump's orbit (even though they continually stoked the flames by falsely claiming the election was stolen and encouraging their supporters to "fight like hell or you won't have a country", etc.) had nothing to do with it whatsoever. Evidently the motivation for the FBI to plant Epps, was to stop the peaceful, democratic transfer of power from the Trump administration to the Biden administration all in an effort to make the infallible Dear Leader look bad, not that he hasn't proven fully capable of doing that himself. Overturn democracy just to make the outgoing president look bad. Make sense. Or then again, possibly the reason the right-wingers are focused on Epps is it's all another gaslighting endeavor. The reason he wasn't charged has been explained here over and over before but that doesn't fit the narrative. The idiots believe the gaslighting and the bots continue to spread it. "It's Ray Epps, he did it. It was the FBI not Dear Leader". What we all saw and heard wasn't what we thought. It was Epps the whole time.

  20. Basically they wanted to cap Insulin at $35 dollars for everybody. However, to pass this into law, Democrats needed to get 10 Republicans on board to get to a total of 60 votes, which passes the filibuster. They only got 7 Republican votes, so it failed to be implemented for all. However, through the reconciliation process, Democrats tried to get the $35 insulin cap passed again. However, the Senate Parliamentarian ruled that the rules of the reconciliation process doesn't allow for this. Congress can only pass laws that strictly deal with budgetary issues through the reconciliation process, and thus, they were able to pass a $35 dollar insulin cap for Medicare recipients because it's a goverment run program.

  21. What I keep thinking back to is there is a reason why players work outside their programs with coaches like Keith Williams because he knows everything about the position. Players love playing for MJ because he knows more than EDD drills. It’s the same reason why Larry Johnson is considered one of the best recruiters, because he knows how to coach defensive lineman and knows the position inside and out.

  27. Yes, Sonny Dykes having this success does show an immediate turnaround CAN happen, but that is probably one of the biggest outliers in college football history. I don’t think it’s a good idea to use outliers and exceptions for arguments of probability. Another outlier for TCU this year is their record in close games. TCU is now 6-1 in games within 1 score (8 points or less) with another 2 wins by 10 points. Yes, TCU is making the plays to win those games, but that 6-1 record in close games is another example of an outlier. TCU is fortunate to be 13-1 this year. With the amount of close games it has played, their more realistic outcome of their season would have been 8-5 to 10-3, which is still great, but far from the 2nd best team in the country.

  29. Yea because every program does every day drills that are the same and doesn’t need knowing the position, and it’s not fair to hire coaches that know other coaches or have daddies that are coaches.

  30. I do... All the drills are pretty much the same and all totally available for anyone to use. I guess I might change it to this... 98% is done 1% is connecting and recruiting 1% is breaking down film (this is the hardest part, I think) but anyone on the site could go and 'coach" WR's, assuming you just know the basics of FB. I guess my question to you would be what does "coaching up" mean? Because every CFB team is running the same WR practice drills.

  31. True, but that’s also the case in pretty much every profession

  32. Do you really believe this? I mean at least say 85% or something, but come on college kids need to be coached up and connecting with kids comes with winning and knowing your craft

  33. I like the fact that he isn't following his daddy around. Garrett has to prove himself just like every other coach does. At least he isn't riding his dad's coattails and is more likely to be held accountable.

  38. eSECpn's love affair of SEC is ridiculous. SEC has a 2 to 3 great teams every year. The rest of the conference is average. I get tired of it. The excuses the ESPN guys make for their loses gets old.

  39. That was a helluva game! Lots of good games this bowl season. Teams have to get into a zone where they just keep on competing regardless what stage of the game it is and how many minutes or seconds remain. That's key.

  43. Will Compton had a good NU career, as he was a multiple year starter, highlighted with a 2nd team All-Big Ten honor as a senior in 2012. His biggest flaws were that he was overhyped coming out of high school and he wasn’t as good as Lavonte David. Those are two things which he couldn’t control. A guy can last a long time by being a smart player, who can pick up all kinds of defenses, and put himself in the right spot to make a play.

  44. It’s not bad at all. I applaud it. “Rooting for your conference” is dumb. If anything you should root against your conference rivals. The better they look, the more attractive they are to recruits, and that keeps recruits away from Nebraska. I have one rule for college football, and that’s I only root for Nebraska. Everyone else can eff themselves.
