  1. This. So. Much. This. People like to act like "if we would just do this" or "there's no way that could work". But we've tried about every combination of how to go about things. There isn't a magic bullet. There's no "right" way to do it. If there was, everyone would be doing it the same way. You just have to get the right combination and fit.

  2. Thank you for bringing a reasonable perspective. Some of the takes are lazy and ignorant. when I was in college our DBs were coached by a GA that was a D Lineman. This teams gap isn’t a WR coach. It’s culture.

  3. At this point, I'm just going to let Rhule do his thing. We've tried the hand-picked successor in Frank Solich - didn't work out. We tried the NFL guy in Bill Callahan - didn't work out. We tried the hot shot coordinator in Pelini - worked OK for a while. We tried the old .500 coach in Mike Riley - didn't work out. We tried the Prodigal Son in Scott Frost - didn't work out.

  4. Your shtick of justifying support for Republicans by projecting onto Democrats is funny, but also sad.

  5. Ahhh the old gaslighting by false equivalency card being played once again I see. No sane person falls for that bulls#!t.

  6. I'm aware. Your attempts to compare him to the Republican attempts at eroding democracy, or comparing him to the group of Trump supporting voters attempting to stop Mike Pence from certifying an election, or the complete moral degradation of the party you support is simply you projecting, because that's all Republican voters have left to do. There are no policy goals, no national strategy to uplift the poor, or anything of substance Republicans have left other than fake outrage at imagined injustices.

  7. Rhule isn’t going to put himself at a disadvantage. Guys sit behind their keyboard and pretend to know more than Rhule and judge based on arm chair knowledge. Lmao. This guy may be an absolute bust, then, we can make judgements…. He may be the next Kliff K and we will be crying when he gets poached away…. Fact is, Rhule wants to win, he seems to understand the enormity of the situation…. He has coached him, coached over him, and truly thinks that he is the right guy….. people love negativity

  8. The utmost authority on College Football. That's who.

  9. Yeah. That's me. I grew up in the Civil Rights era and had a constant diet of all the positive strides Black people were making and the opportunities they now enjoyed that were unthinkable just a generation earlier. And all that was true, so I didn't think about racism much. But the fact is our history of racism is truly horrific when you stop and think about it. Which may be why I didn't stop and think about it. And it should have been no surprise that our current racism is much worse than I wanted to believe, which may be why I spent years not believing it. It's always weird when white people try to make themselves the aggrieved party because they're tired of hearing about racism.

  10. You could just click on his face and you'd see that he's a scouting and rankings assistant for On3 and a player personnel guy at LSU, A&M, Baylor, and Texas Tech previously

  11. Pretty sure a percentage of our fan base is going to take issue with most things until some results are shown on the field.

  12. Despite the hyper- inflated angst among all of us who believe we know "better" about recruits and coaches............. I trusted Trev and now I trust Rhule....

  13. Again with the gaslighting. Everyone here knows your games. Classic narcissistic gaslighting. But you do you.

  14. Extremely well in recruiting?? Recruits want to know what that coach can do to develop them, what's this guy gonna say??? He's never coached or played the position . I really hope I'm wrong with this one but if this is who was hired I'd think a lot of guys said no first.

  15. How do we feel about all the other mandated vaccines given to ourselves and our children over the last 70 years? I mean, you always could opt out, as you always could with COVID vaccines, and just deal with the consequences. You could call it "freedom" but the consequences don't exactly break in your favor.

  16. Callahan said Mickey told him after the Iowa game that he asked for $2M/year for 3 years to be the WR coach.

  17. So you are aware that HJ did and said the things I posted. This has nothing to do with any Republican as you now know.

  19. Did we all interpret this #24ours hashtag wrong? It literally meant we were hiring a 24 year old?

  20. Rhule said he was going to have a young staff. He has proven to have a good eye for young coaches in the past. Would have liked to have someone with more experience, but just going to trust Rhule on this one.

  21. If he was that good, he'd be with his dad at T Tech....they need help recruiting against the Texas big boys UT, A&M, Houston and TCU.

  24. Here's where I stand on false equivalencies: The Democrats are 37% full of s#!t at the moment. The Republicans are 98% full of s#!t and stumbling towards a cliff. I wish the Democrats weren't so full of s#!t, but the alternative is much s#!ttier.

  25. I agree. I think Rhule will exceed Frank once the system is in place. BC, MR, and Bo in some ways were all head scratchers. Yes, like the loud support for Frost by the fans as an OC genius, Bo was hire because he was a DC genius. But both had far too little experience for our level. BC was a culture misfit and MR- was just the anti-Bo no other reason to hire the guy. We finally have an AD who knows how to hire for our level of competition/tratition/expectations, and I think Rhule will get us back there.

  26. I can't disagree. That was why I included the additional "but" comments. Rhule has a proven system that has worked at two separate places. Both, IMHO, in worse shape than NU. I think we are in good hands. Probably since Frank tbh. I liked Bo and still do, but he was a 1st time coach.

  27. I guarantee you one thing, he will give 110% while doing his job. He will also have LOTS of help growing into his role.

  28. “Being around great minds” is the excuse that is used. There are so many qualified coaches out there, who don’t get the same opportunities because they aren’t related to someone who’s been in the game for decades prior.

  29. Some other guys hired in their mid-20s. Hopefullly McGuire is as successful… Lincoln Riley was 25 when he was hired as Texas Tech’s WR coach Sean McVay was 25 when he was hired as Commander’s TE coach Lane Kiffin was 26 when he was hired as USC TE coach Ryan Day was 27 when he was hired as Temple’s WR coach Josh Heupel was 27 when he was hired as Arizona’s TE coach Billy Napier was 27 when he was hired as Clemson’s TE coach

  30. There is now way Rhule is dumb enough to hire a kid with no wr coaching experience on a rebuild . With the pool of money he got to work with and this is what he turns in???? I really hope I'm wrong but man this is lame as hell for now.

  31. In tinfoil hat world Ray Epps is an FBI plant that instigated January 6th and every fine, upstanding citizen who stormed the Capitol was duped by Epps and everyone in Trump's orbit (even though they continually stoked the flames by falsely claiming the election was stolen and encouraging their supporters to "fight like hell or you won't have a country", etc.) had nothing to do with it whatsoever. Evidently the motivation for the FBI to plant Epps, was to stop the peaceful, democratic transfer of power from the Trump administration to the Biden administration all in an effort to make the infallible Dear Leader look bad, not that he hasn't proven fully capable of doing that himself. Overturn democracy just to make the outgoing president look bad. Make sense. Or then again, possibly the reason the right-wingers are focused on Epps is it's all another gaslighting endeavor. The reason he wasn't charged has been explained here over and over before but that doesn't fit the narrative. The idiots believe the gaslighting and the bots continue to spread it. "It's Ray Epps, he did it. It was the FBI not Dear Leader". What we all saw and heard wasn't what we thought. It was Epps the whole time.

  32. I get the head scratching going on because of this kids age but I think this is authentically Matt Rhule. Hes mentioned several times he loves being around young people and seeing them develop. I think this also applies to young coaches. The key difference between Frosts coordinators and their lack of P5 experience and Rhule is that Rhule has a plan to move forward. Frost just took his one season of success and proclaimed (arrogantly) that the B1G will have to adjust to them and we all know how that turned out.

  35. Was on the team at Baylor when Rhule was there but barely played as a back-up quarterback. Has been at Carolina for the last two years as a "Coaching Assistant" then an "Offensive Assistant." Pretty light on experience. But was a three-time Academic All-Big 12. And is a Texas native so hopefully can recruit there.

  36. Will Compton had a good NU career, as he was a multiple year starter, highlighted with a 2nd team All-Big Ten honor as a senior in 2012. His biggest flaws were that he was overhyped coming out of high school and he wasn’t as good as Lavonte David. Those are two things which he couldn’t control. A guy can last a long time by being a smart player, who can pick up all kinds of defenses, and put himself in the right spot to make a play.
