  1. I know you already know this...but the comparisons to Nazis is not about concentration camps. Not yet anyway. Those camps were a horrific byproduct from a fascist government that was not stopped. The comparison between the Nazis and GOP starts with the outright fascist tendencies that they share. Characteristics that you apparently value. Demonizing minorities and immigrants, hypernationalism, fear mongering, consolidating power, suppressing and banning critical viewpoints, disregarding democratic values and human values...

  2. For the logically challenged and uninformed... Here's a good long read on what Fascism is and what it looks like. https://www.britannica.com/topic/fascism/Conservative-economic-programs If you can't find many similarities to the current Republican party you just aren't trying. (Note: I don't believe concentration camps are mentioned. If that is all you need to see to believe, then, by all means, continue being myopic.) Here's a much shorter read on how Hitler came to power. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/war/articles/how-did-adolf-hitler-happen Once again, if you don't see many significant similarities to Trump and the current GOP, you might be completely hopeless. Here's a definition of what an analogy is. analogy noun anal·o·gy ə-ˈna-lə-jē plural analogies 1 a : a comparison of two otherwise unlike things based on resemblance of a particular aspect b : resemblance in some particulars between things otherwise unlike : SIMILARITY 2 : inference that if two or more things agree with one another in some respects they will probably agree in others Please note- an analogy does not imply things have to be exactly the same. i.e. If Nazi Germany or fascism is being compared to the GOP, singular things or events, like concentration camps for example, are not a requirement for thinking people to be able to digest the analogy and see the other obvious similarities. I hope this information allows at least one of us to become smarter and more informed.

  7. Or......you could read the article by the award-winning historian who knows vastly more about the subject than you do, and goes out of his way to explain the parallels that apply and those that don't. Remember, we're talking about the formative years, when the word Nazi wasn't fully charged. They were just patriots and nationalists who considered even the Center Right too weak-kneed to pursue their manifest destiny.

  8. The level of American exceptionalism that's required to believe an authoritarian takeover could never happen here, even though we all saw one attempt on Jan 6th, is blatantly ignorant of world history and how authoritarian takeovers start. There first needs to be an effort which then needs to be mainstreamed into a formerly legit political party. That's already happened. CPAC holding meetings in Hungary in 2022 and again in 2023 and hosting authoritarian dictator Orban in Dallas was nothing to see. Of course famous last words, "It could never happen here".

  9. Prevention and recovery are the fastest growing and maybe most important part of most sports. Of course, there are 10000000000000 different views on how to prevent and recover. Even the old "stretch vs don't stretch" pops up every few years. I coached with a guy that did not like water breaks. I had to tell him that 10/10 doctors recommend water.

  11. A moderator is like a ref in a football game. If you nitpick every single thing they say, you will never find the perfect one. Wallace is one of the better ones and Republicans shouldn't have a problem with him.

  13. Teddy has played roughly 2-3 total games in college, and only graded well against the NW team we beat 56-7. I know we are awful on the line so I get it, but it is funny to me how people remember him so fondly with such a tiny body of work. He wasn't much better than the other tackles against good competition (Michigan before the injury).

  14. I know you are just trying to play along with narrative and know the comparison is utter bulls#!t. Unless you don’t understand the basics of fascism which is quite possible. So much so that GOP is increasing minority share of the vote But ya, fascism or something or other. So now we are just making things up I guess. Are you referencing throwing granny off the cliff ads, or claiming GOP will get rid of safety nets, or fear mongering about “nazi Germany” You might wanna look into which party most media and social media heads donate to and what they allow and don’t allow. Or you probably don’t I guess because it won’t fit your narrative about “nazi Germany” Would you be talking about changing voting rules over what current law dictates without a change in that law? I agree. Human values….like protecting children in womb? Or is that a value that goes against the “nazi Germany” narrative. LOL Really liked the movie, though, what if someone is a duck stepping moron and not a goose stepping moron?

  18. Recommend listening to Bussin' With The Boys podcast that dropped this morning, featuring a long segment with Coach Rhule. (Starts about 45 minutes into the podcast). Still listening to it, but THIS was a major takeaway, for me: At 1:25:00 Coach Rhule was asked "Coming to Nebraska, what were some things that you're like 'I'm going to have to address this' - what were some issues to hit head-on?" With little/no hesitation Rhule responded: He went on to list several, including massages and Sensory Deprivation Tanks and said that programs are in two camps on this stuff: He went on to tie these issues to the health of players/team and their ability to win on gameday. I found this VERY interesting, because I remember (decades and decades ago) when Nebraska was on the cutting edge of player nutrition (then everybody caught up). We talk about "facilities" all of the time, but SPECIFICALLY I would love to know how Nebraska ranks in the area that Rhule identified as one where "I can really help with that process". Sounds to me like Nebraska either didn't even HAVE this stuff or didn't get the players to UTILIZE this stuff. I wonder how we stack up to other Div. 1 (or BigTen) programs in this regard? If Rhule can come from the NFL and say: This is how they do it in the Big Leagues and Here's Why, I can see that being another possible edge that Nebraska can exploit. And if Rhule & staff are highlighting this to potential recruits - then why would you go anywhere that did NOT have this in place and players know how to benefit themselves by using it? 19. And I imagine the players that will be encouraged to move on are already aware - some may want the chance to prove themselves in spring ball, and many can use the spring semester to put themselves in a better position academically to transfer. There was less roster turnover right away than I expected, but that just means more of it will happen during the spring.

  22. I'm seeing a party that purportedly hates big government and social engineering, yet prepares a full draconian slate of social engineering for the day they become the government, which in several notable cases is "now." If I could boil their belief system down to one word, it would be "revenge." The GOP officially declared January 6 "legitimate political discourse." True story. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/feb/04/republicans-capitol-attack-legitimate-political-discourse-cheney-kinzinger-pence I'm okay ditching the labels "fascism" and "Nazis" and just calling it our own brand of White Nationalism if that makes you feel better.

  25. It is amazing to see what a real "fight" in a situation like this looks like compared to movie versions and of course the dude that says "Well, if he had his conceal carry firearm with him, he would have just pulled it out and put one in his chest and one in his head" When in reality, it is two scared a$$ guys, with no idea what they are doing, just trying to survive something that neither of them have ever confronted before while adrenaline is racing through their body.

  28. No water breaks are good old fashioned football. All during HS water breaks were strictly forbidden during practice. Being in hot, humid KY made things even worse. After the practice it was a race to the drinking fountain inside the school. Being an OL I was always bringing up the rear so the queue was long and it was another 10-15 minute wait to get a drink. It was normal to loose 5-8 pounds in a 2-2.5 hour practice. Thankfully things have changed.

  36. So, let me get this straight. An FBI agent was in charge of investigating Russia and Trump. That investigation ultimately didn’t find collusion between the two. The agent now is found to be a Russian agent. And…..Republicans think this is a gotcha moment against Democrats. Do I have this right?

  37. I think Archy's point is that libs and Dems and never-Trumpers have gotten a bit melodramatic about the 2020 mischief and the handful of rascals who still promote the Big Lie to a willing media. But I"m afraid I gotta double down. This is very similar to how the Nazi's came to power in mid-1930s Germany, mirroring Archy's assurance that the conservative party has its extremists under control. https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-01-16/donald-trump-insurrection-capitol-beer-hall-putsch?fbclid=IwAR00r3qzXmuO97rIkyUi9fVXNz-FellOyfVQkeQYBJzEwq04EABqhcbWkJs
