  1. pretty sure you've got every relevant point wrong. All it took was the AOC reference to get you in a huff?

  2. This could possibly be your worst take yet. If Amazon got massive tax breaks to build their campus then she did the right thing. No corporation or sports team should be getting sweetheart deals from the government, it only hurts the community in the long run when those companies inevitably leave.

  3. If you don’t want that, maybe your party should stop doing things that are so f#&%ing stupid.

  4. This inability to see this slow slide into authoritarianism can be seen right here on this board, what with every crazy proposal or candidate being viewed as a one-off, "hyperbole" and not in anyway perceived as a continuum. Frog slow boiling so to speak. Next thing you know an insurrectionist like Gym Jordan is considered mainstream and "the most powerful man in Washington".

  6. If you notice I did say other places were closing as well. Also why would the CEO mention crime if it was not an issue. You saw his quote right? Maybe it was political posturing. Portland and other cities are getting worse because of bad policies...ask Lightfoot how that turned out.

  7. And there it is. Right on cue. Nevermind the coup attempt on Jan 6th, the continuing coup attempt, and it's leader being the favorite to be reelected in 2024. Nevermind the minimizing of the crimes leading up to that day, on that day, and since that day. Nevermind that coup leader's only viable primary challenger is every bit as authoritarian. Nevermind the continued assault on our institutions in a manner straight out of fascist playbook. Gaslight about the media, scientists, the intelligence community. Nevermind Trump's entire CPAC speech. If that isn't straight up autocratic foreshadowing, nothing is. Or the continued gaslighting about fraudulent elections but only when the party of authoritarianism loses and only by those candidates who lost in those elections. Or the fact that Orban, Bolsonaro, Trump and other authoritarians are honored, keynote speakers at CPAC Or the fact that Republicans hold Putin in higher standing than Biden. Or that a sizeable percentage of the authoritarian party would destroy NATO and give the keys to the sovereign former countries of the Soviet Union to their ideal leader, Putin himself. Or that MTG has gained traction with her national divorce nonsense and is now an unquestionable leader of the authoritarian party. I haven't even touch on the stripping away of a woman's right to make her own health care decisions, or the stripping away of gay and transgender rights, or the suppression of voting rights This all didn't happen in one fell swoop. It's been an erosion. But I'm not naive enough to believe that board MAGA emoji man doesn't see all this happening. He's not who I was referring. Rather he is good with this slide into an authoritarian state. Why else would he spend every waking moment of the work week not actually working but trolling? Next...expect a whataboutism post complete with shifting goalposts and childish emojis. It's the template.

  8. AOC brags about Amazon pausing the HQ build near DC. She helped get Amazon to abandon the NY project. Honestly, she did Amazon and whichever other state gets their business a favor. People are leaving NY Congresswomen.

  9. I think I predicted 5 wins for this team. So happy to be wrong. Kudos to this team and Fred for battling.

  12. I wasn’t able to watch this game either, but one thing I like about Lawrence is how quick he is. Looks like he was a bomber today, but he gets the the hoop in a hurry when there’s an opening.

  13. What I don’t get is what did people see all season that makes them think he wasn’t extremely fast? All season, the guy was getting behind defenses and not getting caught. It’s like people are conditioned to not believe Nebraska could have someone like him.

  14. Seems you are implying everyone needs to check in with you now Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 to make sure it’s ok to post (if you are going to go claim people are trolling, go ahead and make a report to the mods per board rules) Should we let the mods know that the board approves emojis are now childish. While we are at it, I mean sure, we could talk about getting rid of the filibuster (assault on an institution), packing SCOTUS (assault on an institution), getting rid of EC (assault on an institution), adding Senators based on population (assault on institution), getting rid of police departments (assault on institution), decrying the scientist report from DOE (assault on scientists) etc..etc..etc…

  15. Hate to complain about the refs, but I'm complaining about the refs. Last 3 by Lawrence he gets hit on the arm exactly like coach's younger son who got a 4 point play early in the 2nd half for Io_a. Just seemed like the refs were afraid of the coach and didn't want to make a call on Io_a to avoid the acting up until the end of the game where their need to make the over-exaggerated charging call overruled their fear. Great win by the team though. Due to the loss against MSU I expected Io_a to start running away with the game when they got up 7 in the second half, but the guys fought back and grabbed some of the mojo from their first win against Io_a to prevent them from making a field goal in like the last 6 minutes.

  20. I swear one of the factors is attendance. Given half the B1G teams make the dance I gotta believe the Huskers are in the NIT.

  21. Guarantee at least a .500 finished to the season regardless of tournaments outcome will this team get an invite to post season NIT? I think they meet criteria, unless we make a major run in the big 10 tournament

  25. An unknown FL STATE Legislator proposes a pretty dumb bill that is getting panned on both sides and now we are frog boiling into authoritarian rule as a whole!

  26. Did I say it passed? I didn't see where I said it did? Of course seeing where I said "waiting for the amendment" might clue you in. Some people may not understand that this type of performative bulls#!t is really a window into the mindset of the person proposing the bill. The crazies were once political outliers. Now they're mainstream within the Republican Party.

  30. Those bills are proposed knowing they won't pass in order to court certain voters. It's quite telling of the conservative cause that these bills will get proposed and the people in Congress proposing them won't get punished for doing so by Conservative voters.

  36. This is more about me watching a live example of the angst I see in the media about what our kids are being taught. She actually invested time teaching the kids how to read and think about literature, which was great. Critical thinking. My kids think she is a nice teacher. She seems to like them too. Probably because they both respectfully participate in class. I really don’t have any complaints watching from afar. The only complaint my kid has is that every short story they have read ends in death, and she bashes white men a lot. Little digs here and there.

  37. I missed the ESG investing rules a month ago. Is there adiscussion on it in a thread? Not that fund managers care about clients anyway... "The Department of Labor rule, first announced in November, reverses restrictions put in place under the Trump administration. It is now facing a lawsuit from Utah and two-dozen other states, who argue that it violates the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) of 1974, which says retirement plan assets must be held for the exclusive purpose of providing benefits to participants in the plan, and that fiduciaries must act solely in the participants' interests."

  38. Good question. I have been waiting for my boys to have teacher that discusses a lot of the current cultural trends or is politically vocal on the left. She addresses the kids as those identifying as men or women and said she treats everyone the same and is very inclusive. Then she mentioned that the readings for the term were not going to be traditional American literature because that is dominated by white misogynistic men. He said she often takes good conversations and injects politics into them. In one example, my son was telling her about the refugees our family has helped settle in the US, and she diverted into talking about how the US border policies are too restrictive and the US need to let people across more freely. He said she tends to divert into political discussions frequently. I have been asking about what stories she has them read. He noted that in the last 6 short stories the main character committed suicide in 4 of them which he felt were odd choices since suicide is a sensitive topic. In one book, the main characters young daughter had her first babysitting job and ended up getting molested by the father of that family while being driven home. He is a senior taking a college level lit class, so I am not bothered by the content as long as the event was portrayed as a bad thing versus maybe trying to normalize it. In my other sons class she is having them write a paper on human rights and the students get to pick what to write about. She was disappointed when no one picked trans rights and strongly encourage someone to do so. No one did. In general they both feel she is nice person. given all the angst in the media about CRT being taught in schools, the sexualization of kids, books being banned, etc,…it’s interesting to me to monitor a couple classes where my boys have a politically active teacher. I asked my kid to get me name of the short stories so I can read them. To be fair, I have had a number of discussions with my boys when I discovered or heard about events that I felt were racist or chauvinistic as well,…or if someone was simply getting treated poorly.

  40. Apparently he is now the #3 overall player in the country according to both 247 and On3 and a five-star according to 247. That rating would also put him in five-star territory by On3 down the road.
