Starting to think someone here is a paid social media influencer for the Republican party10 points

This post is laughable. You blame these issues on a lack of working together when one party has been stonewalled trying to do the right things while the GOP fights against these things at every chance. Do you pay any attention at all to what the GOP has been doing and to what they have been silent about and not even attempted? ….that was rhetorical, obviously the answer is no.7 points

Maybe a governor should actually look into someone before giving them a pardon.6 points

Hard to say. Maybe you raffled off shotguns for years in rural communities, but at this point in 2023 you really can't be deaf to the issue of guns, high schools and mass shootings. AR-15's are designed to rapidly kill as many humans as possible. I think the grand scheme of things would like that pointed out. If I had to choose between Tone Deaf and Act of Defiance, I'd put my money on the latter.6 points

Rolled out an agenda…. Championing…. Can’t agree on how to finance…. Wake me up when they actually do something instead of simply giving minimal lip service from obscure corners of the party. The GOP is way more concerned with instituting more 6 week abortion bans, banning abortions in cases of rape and incest, legalizing marriage of 12 year olds, making it a crime to travel out of state for healthcare, etc. Serving their puritanical religious beliefs is way more important to them than fixing the resulting problems created in the wake of their policies.6 points

they always mention that the killer was a vet. no mention that his victim was also a vet. i remember someone here supporting the killer and it was "unfortunate" that the killer said that s#!t. checking someone's political position to determine if he was is guilty or innocent isn't the america i thought we lived in but here we are.6 points

When was the last time a democrat in congress nonfactually and openly disparaged a prosecutor conducting an active investigation? Sure seems like a republican thing.5 points

Even though it sucks to start over with a new staff and wonder how long it could take to put a decent team together, it's nice to see some fresh attitudes & motivation from the program. Way better than watching a 'dead man walking' kind of a situation with the previous staff & players just going through the motions.4 points

It's not everyone who's successful enough to sit through depositions ranging from business fraud, tax fraud, rape, inciting an insurrection, stealing classified documents, election interference, obstruction of justice, and espionage.4 points

he seems to be saying that if they stop prosecuting criminals like trump the crime rate will go down. but he did forget to add the usual "soros funded DA" that the right throws around so much. wonder why they refuse to talk about a certain well funded SC justice who is well funded by a rich donor if every time they attack a judge they call him soros funded?4 points

good thing the judge is trying to keep a murderer off the street since the gov want him free. the only fact that mattered to abbot was that the killer was a right wing lunatic so he was going to free him3 points

Good. The citizens of Florida are getting policies that they vote for and deserve. If Florida's residents thought that rape victims deserve dignity, respect, care and that women are more then baby making machines, they'd vote differently. The citizens of Florida do not, and as such, are getting policies they deserve.3 points

A judge's court convicts a murderer. A pathetic governor decides immediately, without any real information on the case, to pardon the murderer. It appears to me, this was how the judge decided to try to get the pathetic governor to change his mind. I'm OK with a judge, in this situation, doing what's needed to keep a murderer off the streets.3 points

DeWitt is tough for me because while he didn't do a great job, how much of his performance was the fact he was also in a pretty big battle with cancer?3 points

Victor Shi, the youngest elected Delegate for Joe Biden in 2020, is a writer, speaker, organizer, activist, podcast co-host, and a freshman at UCLA, where he intends to major in American Literature and Culture and is a member of the school’s Daily Bruin and Political Union clubs. Victor began his time in politics in eighth grade as a campaign intern for Congressman Brad Schneider, spanning over three years of canvassing, phone banking, raising money, and organizing political events. During Victor’s time in high school, he was selected as one of thirty students to serve on Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s Emerging Youth Leaders Transition Team, where he provided input on policy recommendations concerning young people to Governor Pritzker’s administration, and also interned for Illinois PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) and Equal Citizens, where he spent much of his time advocating for and writing op-eds on Ranked-Choice Voting and democracy reform. Most recently, Victor was elected as the youngest delegate for Joe Biden to the DNC Convention in 2020 at age seventeen, amassing over 42,000 votes in Illinois’ Tenth Congressional District. Victor was then offered a position as an Organizer on the Joe Biden for President Campaign as well as a Fellowship on the 59th Presidential Inauguration Committee. Currently, Victor is a District Office Intern for Congressman Brad Schneider, a National Youth Trainer for CADCA, an organization dedicated to substance use prevention, and is the co-host of the podcast, Intergenerational Politics, with Jill Wine-Banks (former Watergate Prosecutor and MSNBC Legal Analyst). On their podcast, Jill and Victor aim to represent and engage all generations in politics and have had conversations with some of the biggest names, including Neil deGrasse Tyson, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former FBI Director James Comey, Paul Krugman, Mark Cuban, Kathy Griffin, Mary Trump, and more. Victor’s on-air commentary and interviews have been featured across various networks and publications including MSNBC, CNN, NBC, PBS Newshour, ABC, the Daily Herald, and the Chicago Tribune. His written work and op-eds have been published by outlets like USA Today, The Hill, Daily Herald, and International Business Times. Victor was fortunate enough to also have been the recipient of the AP National Scholar, CADCA’s Advocate of the Year, and the winner of the 2020 Illinois Youth and Government Moot Court Competition for best oral argument and written brief. https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:EZib2fbsmesJ:https://www.politicon.com/speaker/victor-shi/&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us3 points

Man, no way. Look, those teams suck. With how NU recruits and should keep recruiting, NU should be in the top 4ish of the Big Ten each year. OSU and Michigan (if JH stays), then the next two spots are between USC, PSU (Sort of) and NU. NU sucked last year and almost beat everyone they played.3 points

Cool bc Farmer is better suited for corner than safety. Lining up 5-10 yards off the ball (receiver) and immediately backpedaling. Like he do at Safety, but 15 yards back. On every play, including obvious running plays. He does have some good hands tho. So as a corner, that's something.2 points

There are plenty of knuckle-draggers in "Gen Z" to make progress impossible for their futures too... What scares me is how the "religious" youth of today tend to gravitate to the more radical churches rather than the thoughtful ones that actually encourage thoughtfulness and intellect. It's just the "Jesus makes me happy so we need to make sure liberals don't take him away!" type groups that seem to be popular in my area.2 points

I understand why he is filling the team with portal guys, just when your 40-83 here your formula for success isn't working. Your lack of developing is key to long term success. You can bring guys into play which he has but the cohesive to play as a winning team is hard. It usually takes transfer along time to get accumulated to their environment to feel comfortable.2 points

To be clear, I wasn’t laughing at the proposed policies. I was laughing that anyone would still think that the Republican party is actually interested enough to act on them. The evidence has been overwhelmingly clear that they won’t act and it has nothing to do with both sides needing to get along better (which, yes, would be helpful).2 points

Having lived here for 37 years I’ve only stumbled across 2 types of CU fan. 1- Fairweather bandwagon fans. They’ve been pretty non-existent lately…but the Prime hire is bringing them back out. 2- The insuffable jackwagons that went to CU and know very little about actual CU sports but still pop off when it’s convenient. The thing both groups have in common is they are know nothing jerks.2 points

I listen to quite a bit of sports talk radio, and there has been a lot more CU talk since Prime was hired. It's nauseating really, because they haven't accomplished anything yet, but a lot of the media feels like he's going to be the savior for the program. Denver is still a Broncos town, but the good season by the Avs following the cup and the Nuggets hopefully finally doing something this season have become frequent talking points. It also helps that their postseasons are during the NFL offseason too obviously.2 points

And unfortunately we are getting left in the dust here. Not so uncommon with the top instate guys including Hall. Who knows about Nelson.2 points

And...I'm pretty sure the court doesn't give a rip how "successful" he and his family have been. Afterall, they have been so successful that they have to beg people with not very much money to donate to them for legal fees.2 points
