Japan's debt to GDP ratio is considerably higher than the Untited States. It's certainly possible that the level of spending can stay high, although I'm not an Economist. What I do know is that the Republican party is extraordinarily unserious about reducing debt or setting spending levels because their last 50 years of deficit spending and cutting taxes on the highest earners tell me as much. If they made any serious efforts, I'd be okay with it. But they couldn't be less serious. It's all theater and no substance.6 points

Ugh. Yes, NIL is an enticement for a guy to come back to play another year of college. However, Vokalek didn’t have any college eligibility left and what else is Nelson going to do to improve his chances in playing in the NFL? Nelson is 23 years old, already played 4 full years of college football, putting his body thru a lot of wear and tear, and has his degree. How much NIL $ makes it worth for him to come back to NU? Nelson isn’t going to get considerably faster or stronger by playing one more season of college football. He would only be one year older, and reducing his NFL career by one year in the long run. He wants to give the NFL a shot, let him do that. Those saying “he left early and went undrafted, what is he going to do now?” are coming across as selfish college fans.5 points

I disagree on Nelson. He was getting older but another year and he would have been drafted. He was on a bad football team and still somewhat shined and flashed at times. He would have absolutely been the face of the defense this season. If they play better he would have benefited. Some of the guys taken ahead of him this draft don’t seem as good as him. Good luck to him on the Dolphins.4 points

Their are some highly ranked guys in the portal that I believe could help Nebraska on both sides.4 points

Im sorry Ervin and Johnson are really nothing special to me. Coming into the season I thought that if Grant didn't have it together then Ajay Allen coming off his collarbone injury would but something didn't click obviously. The coaches that recruited him here are all gone so maybe he just didn't like the coaching style but I don't think this coaching staff style is bad at all.3 points
-
I kinda felt like his effort in practice was going to lead up to him transferring but husker fans assured me to think nothing of it. Sucks bc for me if Grant wasn't going to be the starter he was. Still not a fan of our running back room with him leaving.3 points

If you honestly believe this let's talk over a DM. I have some beautiful ocean front property in Wakanda, SD that I'd sell you at a great price. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Nelson came here from anywhere else other than small town Nebraska, he wouldn't be nearly as loved. I'm betting the new staff met with Nelson and told him he wasn't guaranteed squat, and he wasn't a fit for the new defense. He had a choice to declare for the draft, transfer or sit and watch from the sidelines. He made his choice.3 points

If he is the leader on an improved defense, gets all conference type accolades, improves his stats, improves his skill under better development there are enough teams. If the team has an improved season he would get much of that praise and world garner more attention. Of course his odds of getting drafted would improve if the above happens as teams would have further evidence he has NFL potential. There’s no guarantees as he could get hurt too. But to say his draft stock would not have improved is short-sighted if he would have played another full season here.3 points

Nothing against Casey, but I won’t remember him too much from his time at NU. He will be an afterthought. The good thing is now we can go back to making fun of his dad (Charles) being busted for dealing coke 30+ years ago. #dirtburglers3 points

Local media has been hinting about this for weeks. Most fans didn’t want to think it was possible.3 points

CT was able to get surgery and rehab on NU’s dime, all while watching his new competition and offense under the new coaches. This was a calculated decision process which started shortly after the end of the season and hiring of Rhule.3 points

The league minimum is $750,000. What kind of NIL deals do you guys think Nelson or Vokolek could get that they would want to come back?3 points

If I was a draft analyst and I couldn't decide between an Ohio state guy and a Group of 5 player I would 100% pick the Ohio State guy. You'll look so much less stupid if you're wrong3 points

I would assume there was reasoning for the move at some point and I know its been there a while now, but moving Volleyball from their own forum to a subforum in Other Sports is disappointing3 points

He was getting yelled at from the coach to hurry/pick it up and changed his pace by zero percent. Very low chance this was the lone outlier experience coaches had with his work ethic.2 points

My understanding is that players can retire from football but still have their academic scholarship honored by the school, they just won’t count against the football scholarship count.2 points

I disagree. Most fans knew it was possible. But, they were hoping he wouldn’t leave.2 points

There is no disagreement you are just not correct from everything suggested up to this point. Allen was the fourth string back at the spring game. I do however like Allen as a back and think his potential is very good.2 points

Seems like the writing was on the wall all spring with him. Sucks because he showed so much potential but I don’t worry about RBs as much. Interested to see where he ends up.2 points

Allen to the portal. Hurts us next year. EJ/the guy they brought in this class are pretty suspect.2 points

The only way Nelson was getting drafted (if he came back another year) would have been if he grew 5 inches and go faster... He needed to go since that was best for him.2 points

100% agree. It's not like he was a NU lifer who was waiting in the wings for 2 or 3 seasons before taking over. He wasn't going to be the starter at Texas, so he transferred here so he could start. Now he's not going to be the starter here, so he's going to transfer to somewhere where he can start. That is what QBs do in current day college football. He played in 10 games and won 4 of them. He was a fine QB, nothing spectacular. I will remember him about the same way that I remember Tanner Lee in a "oh yeah, that guy played one year for us" type of way.2 points

Or DeSantis for that matter. If most people showed cautious optimism instead of an unwavering devotion to politicians, the US would be in a much better place. Instead we have people who would rather die on the hill defending Trump or DeSantis and the far right Republican Party. Why they do is crazy to me.2 points

Not me, offense is changing & he has 1 yr left. He is not durable enough to run a lot.2 points

Colorado adopted some tougher gun control measures yesterday. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/04/28/politics/colorado-gun-control-bills-polis/index.html Nothing crazy but it shows that steps can be taken. 1- Raised minimum age to 21 to possess a firearm (with logical exclusions) 2- Minimum 3 day waiting period after background check to get gun. 3- Expanded existing red flag laws, allowing more people to petition for protective orders. 4- Removed liability protections for manufacturers of guns and ammo.2 points

My bad. I'll not expect you to apply critical thinking skills next time. Especially when their coach has told a much different story.1 point

I think you'll find that the level of debt an economy can sustain is fairly undetermined. What's more, government spending is currently accounting for nearly all of the economic growth in the economy at the moment. Economic outcomes are determined by availability of workers, if the workforce population is growing, and large government spending.1 point

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12031021/Jeffrey-Epstein-met-current-CIA-Director-William-Burns-convicted-sex-offender.html Jeffrey Epstein's newly-released private calendar revealed he had scheduled meetings with a slew of prominent individuals, including the current CIA director, after he was convicted as a sex offender. The documents contain emails and scheduled meetings with now-CIA Director William Burns, Bard College president Leon Botstein, Obama's White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and professor Noam Chomsky. The meetings were scheduled between 2013 to 2017 after the pedophile had served time in jail in 2008 for sex crimes involving a teenage girl. The purpose of the meetings was not revealed in the trove of documents, which were obtained by The Wall Street Journal and published on Sunday.1 point

Ya instead of taking Pink News as a source, you would be better off looking at the bill or using a legitimate source. It does not say you must be producing ova. Spreading fake news to try and dunk on a bill is kinda goofy.1 point

Because I don’t believe you wouldn’t vote for Trump in certain situations. Yes you’ve said Desantis is your guy but when he flames out and it really comes down to Trump or Biden (based on your posting history of complaining about all things Biden and Dem and relatively little disparaging Rs or Trump) then yeah, when push comes to shove I see you voting Republican. You would have to drastically change your posting proclivities to convince me otherwise.1 point

Yeah because we can’t compare a bunch of players leaving Doane to a bunch of players leaving CU without dragging in the never intended comparison of the coaches. But that’s what we have Deion defenders on the board for.1 point

The problem is if 62% of R voters don’t want Trump to run again, that pretty much means 38% are for him. And if that 38% still wants him it isn’t going to be any less no matter what. Add in the Rs that will never vote for anything else even if they don’t want him to run (like archy) and a viable 3rd option pretty much only steals votes from the only option that has a chance to beat him. It sounds good and I’d like to think I could vote for an Indy no label but they would have to be polling extremely well to take that chance.1 point
