Currently, at 18-5, Nebraska is only a paper tiger.

The defense is (and can be) questionable at times and in fact way too often. (2 errors again in yesterday's outing). The starting pitching after Sears is still a guessing game. Christo, at least currently, is showing he still allows his head to affect is arm when he's not getting calls he "thinks" he should. Bolt & Childress still haven't settled on a rotation #3 and #4 starter. (Though MW seems to be a solid #4) Offensively, yes the huskers are winning the score board battle but the bats aren't consistent enough.

Halfway through the season and outside of Silva and maybe Walsh, there's not a consistent real threat in the line up. At least not one the opposing pitchers fear facing with runners on in a close game. Bats are needed to win conference championships and currently this team hasn't shown it has enough hitters to win down the stretch. If the hitting and fielding doesn't improve Nebraska will end the season in 4th place at best. I think Bolt and Company's game management has stolen a couple games. (Last night vs Northwestern for one) Nebraska, if they continue relying so heavily on the bullpen to win, will drop games in which they are more talented. They were lucky last night as they allowed Northwestern to load the bases with no outs in both the 8th & 9th innings. They got away with it against NW but against teams like Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, Michigan State, Ohio State, those teams will chew up and spit out runs.

So, imo, until Nebraska can awaken the bats (if they can) and yes, one can argue that peaking too soon is also bad and get consistent starting pitching from the #2 & #3 spots.. They (Nebraska) are simply a paper tiger.

Maybe I should be posting in the ‘bump when drunk’ page instead but what are you talking about?

I’m tipsy so happy Easter everybody!  I hope yours was as well spent and as happy as mine. (This post took a lot of effort between the alcohol and the pop up adds!)

Nebraska’s strength of schedule (I spelled that out it with the help of auto correct) is 40, they are 20-5.

Maryland’s schedule is 80, Rutgers is 137, Ohio State is 55, Northwestern is 48…we have a better record than all of them.  Ohio state is 12-12…Northwestern, whom we just swept, is 10-15 and we are the paper tiger?

I don’t think you are giving this team enough credit.  Enjoy this s***!!!!  GBR!!!

Officiating is horrible, offense push offs & we get called for the foul

Lawrence gets called for the offensive push off and Battle does the same thing a few possessions later but it’s a great play by him.

Could be.  But contact does not equal a foul.

People are insisting Mast got fouled and Wilher didn't.  Commonality between those two is people want both calls to go Nebraska's way.  If both situations were reversed, Husker fans would probably be arguing the other side of both calls.

I think people are just looking for consistency.

Going 2nd in overtime isn't conservative, it's strategy (although to be fair, the edge it gives statistically is very small). You're giving yourself knowledge of what you need but you're also giving yourself 4 plays instead of 3.

    To be fair…

Right. For example, Michigan didn't attempt a pass in the entire second half of their game against Penn State because their coaching staff isn't moronically inept. They just kept doing what allowed them to win.

Satterfield is incapable of simply accepting the limitations of his team, of calling to the few strengths of his team, and calling plays that work even if it's multiple times in a row. He doesn't consider the state of the game, the game clock, the score, or who his QB is when making calls. It's a pathetic joke. Poor coaching is why Nebraska has been terrible for 20 years, and Satterfield is the latest iteration of painfully obvious evidence that the braintrust of this team just isn't there.

He puts the ball in the hands of his QBs no matter the mound of evidence that exists that they cannot make plays, reads, or that they understand the defense in front of them. It's the the worst Quarterback play in P5 football and their coach leaves them out to dry because he's inept and doesn't belong at the D1 level of play calling, let alone at B1G level. The evidence of his ineptitude is large.

Can we pin this thread on the header of every page of the website?

We had the game-winning play dialed up and Haarberg missed the WR by 10 yards and it was intercepted. It's not the OC's fault.

I am torn on this, I see that Satt can scheme guys open and he has in previous games.  But after seeing the limitations in the offense with HH and seeing him miss similar throws and reads 3+ quarters the staff had to do something.  Seems like we are just slamming our head against the wall for 4 quarters praying that the damn qb will finally make a play and save the game for us.

  7. They took advantage of our defense being aggressive in the secondary, great play calling on their part.

Our offense still puts the defense in bad positions due to an inability to move the ball at all.  This loss is on an offense that for some reason is insisting on trying to throw the ball 40 times with a QB and line not built for that type of offense.

Colorado was selling out on the run with everyone at the line in each gap early. That is why counters were hitting with a hole big enough for a truck to drive through.

And in short yardage situations Satt calls straight up dive and we get stuffed.

The QB keeper on the zone read would have been there all game with how hard they were crashing on the first action.

The cooling off period would stop opposing fans from trolling easily and also recently banned angry folks.  You'd have to commit to being here a bit before posting a topic.

Got it, I will stick around here for a bit longer before I start any more bad threads.  Sorry all!
