  1. Big props to Brady for his team first contract extension.

Yeah, this is pretty funny - everyone calling him a saint.

He just doubled the guaranteed money he'll earn, which is better for him.

    3. zoogs

      zoogs

The point is, he could have commanded a lot more in this resigning. When it comes to extension time, we are usually talking about serious money. Brady gave the team $15 million in cap relief when he could have easily decided it was more important to set the market for QBs appropriately.

    4. zoogs

      zoogs

As far as non-guaranteed money turning into guaranteed money in the next two years, the only way that wasn't going to happen anyway was if the Patriots cut Brady.

  2. Martinez didn't play particularly bad, I just think he has lost the team. I think both sides of the ball played harder the past few games under TA and RKIII than any of Taylor's games this season.

and a Martinez led defense is allowing 7 yards a carry. No wait that's not right

      TheSker

Minnesota's offensive numbers weren't shocking, and our youth and inexperience on defense is obvious. Our inability to get a 3rd down conversion is not helping anything.

If the team didn't want to play as hard for one QB versus another, then the whole cast of them is hopelessly pathetic.

But it's a good challenge, and should offer a great glimpse to where we are placed in the world. If we get past Ghana, our chances go way up. Portugal is good, but maybe their not that good without Ronaldo. Germany should win the group easily.

The only other team I feel bad for is Australia, and it's hard for me to feel bad for them. But it's the World Cup. Might as well play the best right away and see where you stand.

@ColoradoHusk They do want to win the conference, but that's not the ultimate goal. That's the basic structure of college basketball now, especially with the ACC essentially being a super conference; it isn't like the way CFB is structured where the CCG is essentially a play-in game to the playoff. Duke, Carolina or Virginia could win any other conference in the country (maybe not the Big XII, but Kansas isn't invincible), yet one of them is going to finish 3rd or worse in the ACC simply because that's how stacked that conference is.

    3. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

@Cdog923 I hear what you are saying, and I am sure that Duke wants to win the conference.  However, all of this talk about how Duke is such a great program, they haven't won an outright ACC regular season championship since 2006 (only shared it once in 2010).  I understand the ACC is a tough conference, but if Duke were so great, they would win the conference more often.

    4. Cdog923

      Cdog923

@ColoradoHusk To me, that speaks more to the strength of the ACC than the weakness of Duke, though. Under the same timeline, they've won the conference tournament 5 times, as well as 2 national titles. The ACC has 3 national champs and 7 Final Four participants in that timeframe, too. So yes, it's accurate to say that they haven't won the regular season conference title in 12 years, but it's also accurate to say that it's been the toughest conference in that time period, and they have proven their quality against OOC competition.

      Omaha-Husker

All American status doesn't mean much in the NBA draft, for instance there is a certain 1st teamers I wouldn't use the 44th pick on.

Very interesting...they extend his contract in July and then fire him. We, the tax payers of MN now have to pay for his buyout...fing stupid! Also, when he was hired, he was promised new facilities, but nothing has changed. The 'Barn" is a dump and the U of M is a dump of a place, with the exception of their football stadium.
