  1. What do you propose? How about Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, Ohio St., Maryland, and either Iowa/Penn St. Other division Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Mich, Mich St., Rutgers and either Penn St./Iowa. If they put PSU with the other division, it would satisfy the perennial power break up. If they are in ours, there are still two newer powers together in the other division, along with Michigan.
  2. I believe competitive balance and access to Ohio/Michigan through regular opportunities to play them is very important for recruiting. I voted for the plus one option. It wasn't offered, but a North/South split might work well.
  3. Larry Jacobson, John Dutton, Randy Schleusener, the Vedrals, a few we swung on and missed like Riley Reiff, and some I've missed. I think perhaps we should not ignore South Dakota.
  4. No doubt the entire process is changing. It is a real challenge .. especially considering the Huskers location. On the other hand, Imani Cross first appeared as a prospect on HB on 12/25/11. In the intervening time period, I think we've all come to agree that he was a pretty decent late addition! I'm hopeful these next few weeks are productive, and then we find a player or two of Imani's caliber towards the end of the cycle.
  5. I wonder if the coaches don't approach a player previously committed to another school a little differently - especially with 4 months left in the recruiting process. Maybe it isn't about making him wait for another recruit to decide, but encouraging him to be absolutely certain to do their best to avoid him having second (third) thoughts. In any event, he certainly seems like a solid prospect. I think that any prospective RB who commits and is willing to come in and compete with our good stable of backs is exactly what we need.
  6. That is unfortunate, if accurate. I continue to think he would be a fantastic commitment. Didn't one of the coaches say that Thurman has been practicing at center and impressed them? There remains time to fill this class, including the OL. I have a feeling that the Sconnie weekend will still reap rewards. I would have liked to have a couple of them already on board, but I think it's still all good. GBR!
  7. Beck needs to show he can game plan for four quarters, won't change until actually stopped, won't try and force the square peg into the round hole and can adapt, change and improvise if and when needed. Until that happens, we will see the likes of UCLA this year, Wisky last year etc...... O also needs to play solid. Receivers who are catching have helped tremendously so far and I expect this to continue. First time since Swift and Todd P we have guys who can routinely catch. I agree. That being said, I am feeling the kool aid a bit. IF we score with good drives or big plays early, I don't believe Wisconsin can play well from behind in Lincoln. I will be stuck in front of my TV in SoDak, but I hope the crowd is electric! Tomorrow night could be fantastic with a big win and 3-4 commitments in the next week!
  8. I am expecting the offensive coordinator to grow up in this game. Exploit the passing game when appropriate, utilizing the variety of capable receivers. However, never forgetting the run game. Rex, Ameer, Heard, etc. will carry the pill. If there is a three and out after three passes, it should not happen again in the game. Pound the ball, and only then use the play action and throw. Defense will be adequate, but this team will rise and fall in the BIG with good game planning and execution on offense. GBR!
  9. I read on the Worldwide Leader that Tennessee has lost 6 assistant coaches since the end of the season. Only Joseph and the Offensive Coordinator remain from Dooley's original staff. Seems like he had better jump ship before it sinks! He seems like a pretty decent potential hire to me. GBR
  10. According to www.coachingsearch.com Nebraska has hired Terry Joseph, currently the DB coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Tennessee. He has ties to Louisiana. If true, sounds like an interesting hire!
  11. Clicked the link to his Twitter feed. He says he woke up this morning wearing a black shirt. Not a definitive statement, but encouraging I would say.
