  1. This has been the MO for the student section for as long as I can remember. They'll show up on time for the really big ones (OSU in 2010, Nebraska in 2011, not sure why this one didn't qualify) but other than that, it takes until the second quarter to fill up completely. Administration has tried various enticements over the years, to pretty much no avail. I think they've accepted it for what it is. Also doesn't help that UW police herd students into their seats one at a time.
  2. If you're looking for a good burger joint, I'd check out either The Old Fashioned on the Capitol Square or Dotty Dumpling's Dowry on North Frances St.
  3. Yes, last week vs. Purdue they swapped out QBs on the same drive. ... Including once when Stave was in the game, the subbed in McEvoy, got a substitution penalty and put Stave back in without McEvoy getting to run a play. Well no one ever said they were good at it.

  5. Can you drink in the streets, like, state street and stuff? On gameday? Not in the street, no. On Regent Street, there are outdoor beer garden things hosted by the bars on gamedays, but that's about it. Okay, what is better...Regent or State? Before the game, definitely Regent. Afterwards, State Street.
  6. Gordon has only run a couple of jet sweeps this season and the team uses the play only about once or twice a game, usually with a wide receiver. We're kind of thin on running backs this season as our two freshmen recruits were both hurt in August and are redshirting. This. We could afford to run it in the 2012 B1GCCG because we had Gordon in addition to Ball and White at the time. Now, they seem more reluctant to run it. Different OC too.

  8. I am as of yet undecided whether or not I should be afraid of Nebraska. Valid points are made in both threads.
  9. My problem with it is that most of the new trophies of the past few years are all associated with some variant of freedom, heroes, etc. Look at the other great rivalry trophies in the conference and you'll see they all have character because they have some quirkiness to them. I'm all for honoring those who serve our country but trophies like this are sterile IMO and are the product of focus groups and athletic marketing departments who are too afraid to think outside of the box/offend anyone with a new trophy, so they instead opt for the safe, uncontroversial route and slap a big ol' American flag on everything.
  10. Honestly, trying to park in Madison on gamedays is a mess. If you'd like to forego the parking pass route for lots, there are plenty of yards, driveways, etc. to park in. Whenever I have visitors come in from out of town, I usually direct them to lot 34 on the map you provided. It's a bit of a walk to Camp Randall, but it's something of a secret and real easy in-and-out.
  11. Yes. 1999. Kid was his HS class valedictorian and everything, but he never even participated in even a single practice. Came to campus in the summer and assaulted a woman. The next day (maybe the second day after) he was off the team. Jael Spaights. Convicted and sentenced to 37 years. I believe he's referring to the kid from Mukwonago that was sentenced this summer, BAB.
  12. Who says they don't want a rivalry? The consensus simply seems to be that the trophy is stupid and contrived.
  13. This. I've never heard that phrase used before.
