  1. That is the kind of commentary I wanted. Hard to argue with your points.
  2. Do we really need a shame ball? I really do have an occasional week at work where I don't perform well, glad I don't have total strangers, with little or no experience in my line of work singling me out as "shamefull"
  3. Great post, thanks for your input. I agree with most of what you've said. I'm old enough (barely) to remember early Devaney years when a winning season was a great thing, so I'm never about firing a winning coach. Just curious.
  4. Definitely agree....can this be fixed in your opinion? If so,how...more direct input from Tom?
  5. On that "other" husker board I predicted a 4-5 loss season based exactly on your observation here. A new conference with 8 new, unfamiliar foes. I'm trying hard to hope that is our issue an not so much our players or coaches.
  6. One of the things I remember most about Dr Tom was the ability of his coaching staff to adjust at halftime, especially during tough games. I just don't see that a lot this year and that makes me think your "outcoached" observation may be correct.
  7. I am one of the biggest koolaid swilling fans you'll meet. I wasn't turned off by this game until we got down 28 points in the 4th quarter. Wins like Penn State and Michigan State and Washington all make it seem like we've to the players on the team that can make it happen and coaches that can call a good game. But games like NW, Wisconsin and Michigan today make it seem like we have high school coaches and mediocre players at best. Please give me your honest, un-biased opinions on where are problems lie. Logical, specific please, I'm not interested in hearing generalities like "Pelini sucks", etc. As hard as it may be right now, approach this discussion from a positive aspect. Thanks
  8. I believe that caboose was chartreuse....best philly steak sandwiches ever....only Pepperjax even comes close....mmmmmmm. Around 14/15th and O on the corner, south-west corner of the intersection, anglewise from the Denney Building.....now I'm hungry...
  9. Huskers above and beyond any and all other teams always.....always. In the past three years I've started following the Arkansas Razorbacks because my daughter and her husband live down there and are fans. It's a good fit because they are a decent team and seldom conflict with Husker interests. Was a Houston Oilers fan for a long time (the Bummer , Walt Garrison and Earl Campbell)....have adopted the Saints as my son is a huge Saints fan. I was an official member of the Johnny Unitas fan club when I was very young...had the autographed pic (high top black football shoes in the classic throwing motion), membership letter and membership card....wish I still had that stuff now...$$$$$$!!!!!! My buddy was a member of the Bart Starr fan club....(dang I'm old). Have been a Boston Celtics fan forever, never a fan of any other team. Never.....even though my mother has always been a Lakers fan???
  10. September 10th, 1977 - Washington State I had just entered UN-L as a freshman after doing a stint in the Army. I was in East Stadium, 25 yardline (South) about 40 rows up. My second Husker game ever in person and my first as a student. I sat in stunned silence after the game while the place cleared out. I could not believe it had happened. More shell shocked than most of the Nam holdovers I had served with. The next week made up for it though.... :-) Look it up.....
  11. C'mon....drink the koolaid....it's delicious!!
  12. My son is back on leave from the Air Force. He and I were in the NorthWest corner of the stadium and we stood the whole game and hollered full volume on every defensive play...and it sounded like most others were too! But there were some folks just on the other side of the fence that separates NW from North Stadium....they asked us to set down...and they weren't blue hairs..probably 40ish...I replied "Hey...I'm at a live game...I get to one game a year....it's a beautiful day....big game....why don't you get up and cheer!!!!" Then I hollered at everyone over there to get up and cheer...and most of them did...made a bleeping fool of the dude!!! Sheesh...unless you are physically unable to stand up....sell your ticket and stay home to watch it on TV...but don't ask me to sit down!!!!
  13. Ugh don't even get me started on the bands half time performance. I know I'll get flamed by the old balls that I'm just too young to treasure 'West Side Story,' but it wasn't the choice in material. It was the performance. It seemed so lifeless, western Nebraska high school bands put more excitement into their halftime shows. Now come on...that music really took me back to my days as a Jet in my small, central Nebraska high school....LOL
  14. I'm in...will keep this and HP if we aren't kicked off there....I love me some Husker football chat...
