  1. RIP Gilbert Gottfried. Dead at age 67.

He was hilarious! I guess he died of a heart complication that he had kept secret. Talented comedian.

  2. Teddy Allen had 37 points for New Mex St in their win over U Conn.

His uncle is a friend of mine, here in Tucson. Told his uncle he couldn't get along with the coach, at Neb.

Was told he also was a little hard to control. Little bit of a wild streak, in him. You could see a little of that in Thursday's game.

He did play a heck of a game. To bad he couldn't have stuck around, our program.

      GBR!!!

      TonyStalloni

He was certainly talented but he needs 4 players around him who rarely get to shoot the ball and are satisfied playing defense and rebounding. Most players these days aren't willing to do that plus a team that can shut Teddy down can pretty much win the game.

  3. I find it interesting that Malaki Branham was named freshman of the year in the Big Ten. He had been named freshman of the week three times this year. The award didn't go to Bryce McGowens who was freshman of the year 8 times and had better numbers. Must be payback for beating OSU in Columbus.

    1. jaws

      jaws

I was surprised as well. I thought McGowens had a better year, but Branham has a higher ceiling. I think you should give out the award to the one with that had the better season. Unfortunately, these awards rarely go to the person that actually deserves them.

  4. Nebraska Womens Associate Basketball Coach Chuck Love has been suspended with pay. Also Ashley Scroggins, one of the leading scorers and best three point shooter on the team, has been suspended and her name no longer appears on the official roster. The university is saying there will be no other comment so details may be hard to get. This will be a big blow to the womens basketball team's hopes for success in future games.

I don't want to draw conclusions, but it's not difficult in this scenario. I sincerely hope this doesn't derail the really good season the Women's team is having.

  5. While watching the Texas/Kansas game I kept seeing a player for Texas with a last name of Allen who greatly resembled Teddy Allen. Turns out he is Teddy's younger brother Timmy.

Yeah I just learned this a few weeks ago myself.  Looks exactly like Teddy also.

Yes it was sad to hear.  I liked meatloaf, musically and acting.  Great guy RIP

  7. It’s great to see O lineman Hunter Anthony from Oklahoma St chose to transfer to the Huskers. He played yesterday in their bowl game win over Notre Dame

I DVR'd that game but haven't had a chance to watch.  Will give me something extra to watch for.

  8. We are last in football Big Ten recruiting. Even Rutgers and Indiana had their best classes in many years. From bottom to top it ranks like this:
    14. Nebraska

    13. Wisconsin

    12. Northwestern

    11. Illinois

    10. Minnesota

     9.  Iowa

     8.  Purdue

     7.  Maryland

     6.  Rutgers

     5.  Mich St

     4.  Indiana

     3.  Michigan

     2.  Penn St

     1.  Ohio St

Number one through seven are all East Division teams.

If the 14 or so players that signed today stick around and we get 4 or 5 out of the portal we should be ok.  If not we are constantly reshuffling with new players.

    3. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

We had a small class because we AREN'T shuffling a lot of new players this year.

Yes, we should get a few more from the portal and possibly yet a couple more HS kids in this class yet.

    4. The Scarlet Pimpernel

      The Scarlet Pimpernel

The excuses being given for why it's a small class are just that: excuses. When you have a small class, you should be focused on quality. This class should've been comprised of primarily 4* with a couple high 3*. Do you ever see any top-tier programs taking a year "off" of recruiting for ANY reason? Heck no.

  9. Matt Davidson for Wisconsin basketball is still up to his dirty tricks. I saw him hook a defenders arm and then fall to the ground pulling the defender down. It tricked the ref to call the foul on the defender.

  10. We had chances and the holding penalties bite us in the a$$ again but damn refs call the interference like you would if Wisconsin was on offense.

I hate BIG refs.  Every frickin’ time. Clear pass interference and nope. Terrible.

Not to mention the holding calls that they failed to call on Wisconsin.

      TonyStalloni

If you get a chance look at the end zone camera of the last long touchdown run by the Badgers. Watch Wisconsin’s left tackle mall Luke Gifford. That should have been a holding call. It was way more aggregious than Corcoran’s call.

  11. Hunter Salis is on the floor right now for Gonzaga and getting lots of build up from the announcers.

  12. Nebraska's entry (from Hastings) in the Little League World Series won their game this afternoon vs New Jersey by a score of 5-2.

As much as I am rooting for Hastings, it's hard baseball to watch.  The field is way too small for that age, it has bad home plate umpires, and ESPN produces it to make stories.

Didn’t really no who was going to play Gonzaga.  But felt pretty good they were going to win it.

  16. Lincoln and Lancaster Co have decided to not host the State High School Football Championships at Memorial this year. All games will be hosted by the higher seed of the two remaining teams in each bracket.

  17. Husker coaches need to offer a kid from Bixby Okla named Braylen Presley. He is an electric football player. A 2022 kid.

  18. Spencer Davis of the Spencer Davis Group and Tony Lewis, lead singer of The Outfield passed away today. 2020 won't let up.

I would imagine they had to have done okay from touring since their first couple albums were successful.  At the same time, it seems like they weren't very popular in England so who knows.

  19. The Sooners bite the dust again. Iowa St plays well and doesn't roll over. Imagine the angst in Norman tonight. Lincoln Riley running out of Bob Stoops recruits already?

I'm also happy to see Hopkins their TE in the pros.  That guy killed NU the past 2 years.  Zero answer for him.

    • Nouredin Nouili, the transfer O-lineman from Colorado State, says the NCAA has told him he has full eligibility this year. He played at 285 last year and is now up to 320. A welcome addition to the O line.

Pardon me sir/ma'am, your computer is highly out of date.  We recommend sending all of your bank data to HuskerinInLostWages and purchasing 3 of the 1000 dollar gift cards.  Once you purchase these gift cards please contact me immediately so I can remote into your computer and install a rootkit, err virus scanner to make sure your information is safe.

  23. Whenever I watch these top 10 teams play I feel like my Huskers go into a gun fight with water pistols. The speed of the running backs and wide receivers, the size and quickness of the D lineman is nearly depressing.

Yep. Some combination of our talent and development consistently blows goats.

I'm pretty sure it's harder to recruit NU than a lot of schools we'd like to be competing with but we've also has pretty crappy results with a lot of the high-caliber recruits we get.

The silver lining I guess is that most of the best players on the team this year were guys Frost recruited. SO there's that.

    3. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

After seeing the teams in the BIG 10, none of them beside OSU recruit at an elite level. Penn St and Michigan get solid talent most years.  The rest of the teams recruit to a system and do the best they can with player development. Wisconsin does very well. Iowa most years is 9-3 or 8-4. Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota seem to have turned themselves around and are heading in the right direction.  Mich St, Purdue and NW have taken a step back this year. Rutgers and Maryland have a ways to go with facilities and recruiting.  My hope is Nebraska can climb the ladder and bring in the kids who fit the system and we learn to develop them like Wisconsin.

On a side note it seems every football announcer who does LSU games has to spill the fact that Joe Burrow wanted to come to Nebraska twice in his career.  It is sad that OC Beck under Pelini was such an a$$ and Frost already had his Qb when Joe decided to transfer.

I was watching an Oregon game and saw a play we run.  I was thinking wow, that's how it's supposed to look.  The biggest difference was the speed it was executed at.  Our players looks like they are playing in mud.

Wisconsin does a very good job developing players but they also get them to play hard.  They had to play a freshman DB against Minnesota and held his own against Minny's WRs.  He wasn't big and didn't appear to be overly fast.  He just played with a want to attitude.  Sometimes I get the impression that our players aren't willing to make a play out of concern for injury.  That wasn't even on the Wisconsin freshman's mind.

  24. We have an ant invasion this year.  Tiny black ones and also dark red large ones. I have used many of the "ant traps" that they are supposed to carry back to the nest.  They just laugh at it.  Even had the big ones start a nest inside the freezer door of the fridge and start removing the white foam insulation one tiny piece at a time. I would rather not spray every square inch of the property because of grandkids. Any solutions?

Terro also makes a shaker bag of granules--walk around the perimeter of the house, shake the bag, and it's an effective ant barrier. Do this on top of whatever spray/concoction you use, and you should be golden.

Source: Using this product for years against sugar/carpenter/fire ants.
