  1. When Lee Barfnecht and Dirk Chatelain reported dirty facts, how did the fanbase receive them? what does the fanbase think about them right now? Hey, i'm on the side of reporting what's happening if it only helps the program get better, even if its bad stuff and "dirty laundry". so i agree that the media needs to be more honest and forthright. they probably deserve all the backlash that's coming their way today. if they knew these were some of the key reasons why the past 4 years were an ongoing disaster, they should have reported on them. that's what a reporter does. instead, they had fluff piece after fluff piece, even thought they knew of these deep issues. but then again, i can understand why they would do that. they have families to feed, and they need clicks.
  2. Narrator: Benning wasn't actually airing any dirt about Frost. In fact, Benning was actually protecting frost, even though he knew all the dirt.
  3. he does get that way sometimes, but to be fair to him, he's not entirely wrong. you only need to see the reaction of people on forums to critical artices, or even the reaction when someone comes on the forum to give some not so glamorous info about the program. people don't even want to listen, they instead destroy the messenger. heck, even just pointing out that some specific coaches are bad at their jobs gets you burned at the stake. imagine what would happen if someone wrote about the rumours in the paper the week after we lost to illinois last year?
  4. im not sure why this is so hard to understand for some. Sometimes there are things more important than money.
  5. No matter how you slice it, 7.5mill just isn’t a factor when it comes to making the right decision once you know it is the right one at that level. Delaying it to save 7.5 mil isn’t the smart financial decision you think it is. Some say “penny wise, pound foolish.”
  6. No. At that level, with everything at stake, $7.5m is just not what you think it is. at the very least, when a yearly revenue of over 150mil, 7.5 mil would not be a reason to delay doing the right thing the moment you know it is the right thing to do. trevs decision says it’s not about the money. As it shouldn’t.
  7. I don’t know. That seems a bit of a stretch if you don’t consider the reasoning. What if a booster paid it? What if the athletic dept loses $20 mil over the season if frost remains? What if he was talked out of firing frost last year?
  8. Trev is incompetent for firing Scott frost? Just trying to understand.
  9. I don’t think we should care at all what the image is right now. a lady who needs cpr doesn’t care about a random hand on her chest.
  10. In my opinion, he’s actually not too bad. He just has really poor coaches on the front seven. The linebackers are really poorly coached.
  11. Did anyone just watch Wisconsin lose? Washington state’s head coach is looking good right now
  12. There hasn’t been one year with this staff where the coaching and development in that room has been a bright spot. We seem to be always either undersized, slow to attack, or unable to shed blocks.
  13. Yea. But can he be that in spite of pressure from T.O.?
  14. It’s not a bad scheme. We’ve just had bad positional coaches on the front 7. Last year and prior, we had decent talent/gamers to help minimize bad coaching. This year, not so much. in general though, this staff has always suffered from a very poor attention to detail on both sides of the ball and that’s why they’ve lost so much.
  15. He may have been confirming the scripture he was going to quote. That’s not abnormal, especially for younger folks
  16. It’s one thing to not talk about it. It’s another to actively try to hide it or cover it up, and worse still, play an injured kid as if he wasn’t injured with little or no game plan adjustments. All so that… the media doesn’t find out? That’s just weird to me. Like, why would you devote so much time and attention to playing smoke and mirrors with the media?
  17. if helms and johnson are offensive skill players, it's not inconcievable to see that Mickey Joseph, who has a proven track record with skill position players, would have done better. unless there's something i'm missing.
  18. As far as I can see, based on who the new coaches are, the main benefits here that will address specific weaknesses are: attention to detail on offense, better recruiting at skill positions, and hopefully better line technique. It could also help with a true identity on offense and an ability to counter opponent adjustments. so for me, if everything else stays the same, that means an additional 3 wins at a minimum. These changes so far do not address the issues of defensive inconsistencies at times, special teams, head coach maturity, head coach ownership and accountability, and proper roster management.
  19. Probably unpopular, but coach Dawson has done a better job than coach Ruud, in my opinion.
  20. No it wouldn’t because a new coach finding and hiring a new staff is considered standard practice. A lame duck coach looking for top line assistants in his area of expertise for a 1 year contract is chaotic. it’s not particularly mathematical. Chaos doesn’t necessarily increase because there’s more positions to fill. Filling out the entire staff makes it more straightforward. When it comes to coaching staffs, Trying to hire 4 people for 5/6 roles is more chaotic than a blank slate of 10 people for 11/12 roles. This current head coach’s deficiencies makes things worse.
  21. I think you are confusing “chaos” with “talent search”. chaos is what Nebraska went through after solich was fired. Chaos is whatever seems to be going on in Lincoln now. Talent searches are always ongoing for any and all coaches with talent. Any decent coach will get headhunters calling them every offseason.
  22. Why would hiring a new full staff be chaotic? The amount of chaos depends only on the quality of leadership in charge of the hiring.
  23. I’m right there with you, cos I think frost should have been fired immediately after Minnesota. I would say p5/ranked experience should absolutely be a criterion. Not needing that experience from assistants is how we got here in the first place.
