  1. Harvesting Ballots? What do you describe as "Harvesting Ballots?"
  2. Unfortunately, that's part of the problem. Everyone wants the cliffnotes version and they gloss over the nuances of the issue.
  3. Being a firearm owner (and one who thinks sensible gun laws should make, well, sense), I watched this and had agree with a lot of points this guy has. It's a long video, but hang in there. I want to have an actual conversation about this, sick of going back and forth about it.
  4. Not smart enough. This coming from the state who had Coach O (I love the guy) as their head man. He isn't exactly the example of sounding like Einstein
  5. Very true, but you first have to have a foundation to build upon. I watched the Buckeyes play the other night, they had this all world tight end that was straight schooling Wisconsin. Found out that the guy came to school and has played three different positions since he's been there. He was that good to play all the positions, though. A good foundation can create some good looking buildings.
  6. Let's do a test here: Look at this definition of what folks think a DE should be coming out of HS: https://www.gobigrecruiting.com/recruiting101/football/positional_guidelines/defensive_line Now, go look at this guy's stats. DE Recruit #1: At last year's NFL combine, DE Kayvon Thibodeaux out of Oregon (6'4", 254) ran a 4.58 40 and benched 225 for 27 reps. I'm not one that is big on numbers (cause they can't tell heart), but according to the link above, the first person above is as good as a group of five/FCS defensive end.
  7. Hey, Coach Cook can talk all the ish he wants to. He is one of the most decorated coaches in NCAA history.
  8. Anybody who watched this, knows what happened on the field later that night:
  9. I will continue...after years and years....to put a plug in for this guy to be tied to this program's coaching staff
  10. And for those whining about Chin and Frost getting fired..... Herm Edwards fired at Arizona State as well.
  11. I wouldn't say that Urbs wouldn't be good here right off the bat. Guy can coach at the college level, and he gives instant name recognition. This whole "Recruits won't come here" excuse has always been BS to me. Kids are going to go where they think they can win games and get boosted to the next level. Last time I checked, places like Starksville, Eugene, Pullman, and Lansing aren't the best stops to go to for things to do. Urban turned Utah into a powerhouse, and did wonders at Bowling Green. That being said, I think he's past it, personally.
  12. Thanks - I'm just fed up. We're four games into the season, and the season is already over in most people's minds. It's ridiculous. I comment on other fan boards and even they are scratching their heads at some of the decisions made. How the last two ADs can give an extension to a couple of head football coaches who have done nothing to deserve it. How guys were allowed to keep their jobs after abysmal performances on the field. How undisciplined the football team is on gameday. By gawd, this is NEBRASKA. We're a college football blue blood for crying out loud. We were once Conan, strong, mighty warrior: But hubris got the best of us, and we were captured and caught at Thulsa Doom's place. We were placed on the Tree of Woe, and all the teams and places around us are picking at us like vultures. I'm waiting on us to get tired of the ish, bite the hell outta those vultures... Get offa the tree, and come back mighty as heck
  13. The issue with the culture down there in Lincoln is beyond the football team. It's infected the staff. Nepotism, "good ol boy" network mess. Show me the results based job in which you can be MEDIOCRE (at best), HORRIBLE (at worst), get paid millions or hundreds of thousands of dollars, and still keep your job? It is past time that folks start putting their feet down, boots up people's arses, and stop giving out these free paychecks.
  14. This one is gonna be a rant, and I may get run for it, but at this point, after hearing all of the talk after this morning's news, I don't rightly care at this point.... I'm hearing all kinds of talk after Coach Chin was fired about how wonderful a guy he was, how much of a standup dude he was, how friendly he was. That's all good, and I'm sure he was a standup guy, real great to get along with. We all know folks like that. People that are ride or die, nice folks who have your back through thick and then. People you can confide in, people that you trust. News flash - that doesn't mean that they are the best person to do the job you hire them for. I've been in the tech industry over 22 years. I've known folks that I'd trust to watch over my children in an emergency. I wouldn't hire them to do what I do, though. Why? Because they weren't the best fit for the job. They weren't very good at the job. Oh, they gave it a 110% effort, and I loved them for that. But their best wasn't good enough. Which leads me to one of the major issues since Frank Solich was so unceremoniously fired years ago. You are hired to do a job. Period. If your job is to win football games....and your loyalty to your friends is getting in the way of that....well.... Bill Callahan Mike Riley Bo Pelini (to some extent) and now, Frost. I am SICK and TIRED of hearing how standup a person is when it's obvious they aren't the right person for the job. Who is? I don't know, but if you have a person driving the bus who is continuously running into parked cars...would you let that person continue to drive?!? Hell no! College football in the 21st century is a BUSINESS. It's a multi BILLION dollar business. Tough decisions have to be made. Chin should have not just been gone last year - he should never have gotten the job. Last year was a better year for him because he rode JoJo until he couldn't any longer. And it shows this year. Dabo Swinney fired two assistants in 2011 because they weren't meeting with success. Brent Venables escorted an assistant out for the use of a racial slur. Wasn't any "oh, he was a good guy, he made a mistake." Guy. Had. To. Go. Georgia Tech fired 3 assistants a few years ago (and their head guy needs to get fired soon as well). Arkansas won 9 games last year, and still fired an assistant coach. And.... Frank Solich fired Craig Bohl after 2 seasons after the defense took a turn in the wrong direction. When is nepotism going to stop being the norm in the athletic department in Lincoln, NE? The "good ol boy" network only works when you're winning games. If you're losing - you have to put on your big boy pants, make a decision to let a close friend go, and put folks into a spot that will help YOU get the kids into the best position to win games for them AND you as the head guy. It's nothing personal, it's business, and it's your job. So - win, lose or draw....I applaud the changes in Lincoln. Even if Coach Joseph doesn't win the job - these changes are PAST DUE. And the expectation that you are guaranteed a job each year? Screw all that. You need to develop players and deliver success in the classroom AND on the field. If you can't do that - you need to find another place to land other than Lincoln, Nebraska. My rant is over, I go prepare to get things ready for House of the Dragon now....
  15. At this point, we need to be worried about weekly expectations first. This team is hurting right now. Anyone that watched games last week saw A&M fall, Bama get taken to the brink, and other teams got tested. OU is no different. If this team does what they can do, then they have a shot to beat them this weekend.
  16. I'm rootin for Coach. I'd love to see a former Husker have success here again at the level we're expecting. Could you imagine if the guy did pull out a win against OU? Also during the presser - it's painfully obvious that tackling was not a priority for the defense during practices....he mentioned it more than a few times.
  17. I plum darn forgot about Vance Joseph, LOL If Mickey somehow keeps the job, you best believe someone in Arizona is getting a phone call quick like.
  18. Anyone who doesn't think that there still isn't a talent gap between Nebraska and their opponents - just look at the line of scrimmage. How can you have ZERO push constantly on the front? How can you blitz guys and still not get home consistently? The transfer portal was supposed to shore some of that up, but....
  19. Well, Frosty is gone, the team is 1-2 with a couple horrible looking losses, and OU is coming into town. If the whole "No fear of failure." ever would have applied, it's now.
  20. Dude. This place has Coach O written all over it as D coordinator:
  21. If HC Joseph gets rid of Chin...my first call is
  22. He should have fired the ENTIRE staff last season. Including the Best Man in the wedding....
  23. Frank Solich when he was fired: "Till you do right by me, everything you do is gonna fail...." Team ain't been the same since, LOL
