  1. Welcome to Huskerboard, like a beautiful painting by an idiot savant you must not question it for the only true way to understand it is to sit back and appreciate it for what it is. It will often not sense. Man the SC fans get butthurt FAST. The ones that don't understand apparently on our Rivals site where we do a "switched-at-birth" thread for every opponent.
  2. The factors have lessened - we lost our top OL early in the season so there was a period of adjustment, but the O line has improved late in the season so Connor Shaw has had more time in the pocket. He has also improved as a quarterback. Alshon Jeffery is capable of having a big game if Shaw has time to let the route develop. If this happens then we will move the ball at will.
  3. Where you'll get burned with this line of thinking is when SC puts 5 WR on the line and you have to drop your LB's into coverage to help the safety's. Then you'll see a 5 yard dump pass to a TE on a crossing pattern turn into a 15+ yard gain or a Shaw run on a delayed QB draw go for the same amount due to the backers being pulled off the line. So yeah, you need to load the box. We need to load the box because of your potent air attack? Not sure your reasoning on that. Yeah but aside from AJ, who are your other 4 recievers? Moe, Larry, Curly & Shep? Your recieving corp takes a bit of a header after AJ. Our problems in the passing game are mostly because of poor pass blocking. We have Ace Sanders, Nick Jones, Justice Cunningham and RB's capable of catching the ball. If you don't get pressure on our QB then we have a potent passing attack. the problem is that most people have gotten pressure on our quarterback.
  4. I'm in the Military, don't even try to keep track of where I've lived and universities I've taken classes at...currently I'm in Manhattan. Since you asked though I was born in Madison and raised about an hour and a half east of the Twin Cities to a family of Wisconsin grads so I grew up pulling for the Badgers...more recently my cousin was a walk on WR and is currently a GA. Being a fan of the Badgers is in my blood. I can't really help that. That said I earned my undergrad from USC. It's my Alma Mater and I love the Gamecocks. For the purposes of this board I choose to be badgerfan since this is a Big Ten board and it wouldn't make much sense to name myself "Gamecock who also really likes the Badgers". Where did you live? I lived in Eau Claire and Menomonie during my Wisconsin stint. Now I'm in MN. I liked Wisconsin much more. Eau Claire...wow small world...I'm from Rice Lake I live in Eau Claire (sort of), but it's a neighborhood in Columbia.
  5. I seriously love Bowden, for quotes alone the guy was great. He's like the college football foghorn leghorn. I'm actually surprised there isn't a dag-nab-bit or gol-dern in there. Ah sah, ah say, boy, lemme learn ya how to throw that ball.
  6. Gamecock fans will show for bowl games in very large numbers when we end a season on an upswing like we did this year. I've seen us take more than 60,000 fans to a bowl game (Gator Bowl in 1984) and as few as 8,000 (Liberty Bowl in 1987). The location also helps since there is a lot to do in Orlando outside the game events. Obviously, we're not going to take 60,000 fans to this bowl since it only seats 65,000, but I wouldn't be surprised to see 35 or 40,000 there.
  7. We're building bridges here in Huskerboard, how 'bout them apples!?!? That's a much better snap shot. I agree, if Shaw would've played against AU, USC would've won, but that wasn't the case and that game is history now. I would only humbly add, that our current RB, Brandon Wilds, was actually the 5th string RB when we started the season. We lost Carson, 2nd string, against ecu, then Miles broke his wrist, at Miss State I believe, and Baker was never that healthy all year. Wilds had several 100 yard rushing games, avg'ing over 5 yards a carry and was amazing... considering he was a True Freshman and that our OL played decent, but not great. Just remember that London Bridge was falling down at some point. Fraternization with the enemy CAN be grounds for expulsion from Gamecock Nation. You have been duly warned.
  8. Zook is a great recruiter, but he can't coach his way out of a plastic bag. He couldn't win big at Florida, for goodness sakes.
  9. Your fans will talk about our t-shirts and bumper stickers, at least.
  10. I'm sure that's why Arky ended up in the Cotton Bowl and USC ended up in the Capital One Bowl. I would have gone to Dallas, but would have only spent a couple of days there. I'm spending 6 days in Orlando so they got their wish. BTW, I can't believe how cheap hotel rooms are in Orlando right now.
  11. Doo doo ice is a famous myth at Williams-Brice Stadium that gives fountain drinks their...um...a unique flavor. I buy bottled sodas, lol.
  12. The poor Nebraska fans are wondering why a Clemson fan is so wrapped up in the USC bowl game. See what you miss by not having an in-state, inbred arch-rival to deal with? Who is your biggest football rival now, by the way? I always thought it was Oklahoma back in the day. How many fans do you think you guys will bring to Orlando? I'm expecting us to bring 25-30K.
