  1. Husker Nation, I've enjoyed reading all the comments you guys have about the game. It's clear you're a passionate fan base and expect to win big. I have a lot of respect for that mentality. At USC, we're still acclimating to the idea of having that kind of culture (thank Spurrier for instilling it in us - just a few years ago, we were cheering our team in a losing effort for a hard-fought battle. No more of that). With that kind of attitude, I have no doubt Nebraska will be seeing championship performances at some point in the not distant future. Having grown up a Penn State fan (alum family members including parents), I had a dislike for Nebraska because we all wanted the championship back in '94 when both schools were undefeated (not starting an argument here, just saying it led to a natural dislike since that happened when I was 11 years old). However, over the years I've gotten to know a few Nebraska fans, heard about how well you treated our fans out in Omaha at the College World Series (hope that continues despite the bowl game!), and now through this forum and the bowl game I've gotten more exposure to your fans. And at this point, I have nothing but respect and a bit of affection for Nebraska. Every fan base has some bad eggs, but my experience was you guys are a classy bunch and are welcoming and kind to other fan bases. (I can't say I'm a fan of your coach, but he's just a man, not an embodiment of your program). So thanks for a good month leading up to the game. Best of luck next season and in seasons to come in the B1G. Since I've seen a lot of your resident Gamecock / Wisconsin fan, here's my parting gift to you all - a video you can use to mock badgerfan with. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM0QN_yK6-E&feature=player_embedded Hope to see you in Omaha this summer!
  2. Actually Anderson was a major surprise. We had 2 TE's in last year's signing group, Anderson and Drew Owens. Owens was thought to be the better receiver but weak in blocking and Anderson just the opposite. He's been quite a surprise, because he's probably a better blocker than receiver. The reason Cunningham is starting is because he's more polished, experienced, and knows the playbook better. I would not be surprised if Anderson beats him for the starting job next year, though (there's another one coming in, but that's irrelevant as far as this board is concerned). It's true that he's only 205, but he's done an adequate job chipping and cut blocking as needed thus far.
  3. Hi guys, looking forward to a great game. I've stayed away from posting till now because there was just too much of the bickering (thanks to your resident Tiger fan). But this is a nice little thread and I was surprised that 2 particular Gamecocks hadn't been mentioned yet. You all knew about Marcus Lattimore, but since he's been hurt, our true freshman Brandon Wilds has stepped up with multiple 100 yard performances and has been a really nice surprise for us. He only had 13 carries in the first 7 games. Since then, though, he's had 3 100 yard performances in his final 5 games (note that Kenny Miles was the primary ball carrier against Clemson and nearly reached 100 yards in that game and was our leading rusher 2 years ago). Here are Brandon's stats and a video of him: Brandon Wilds: 107 att, 486 yds, 4.5 avg, 47 lng, 3 TD, 15 rec, 136 yds, 9.1 avg, 20 lng, 0 TD (unfortunately there's not a lot of video on Wilds since he hasn't had many scores, but this is the best clip I could find) The other guy to watch out for is Rory "Buster" Anderson (that was already his nickname, we didn't give it to him), a true freshman tight end. Rory hasn't been too active since he's not our starting TE (that would be Justice Cunningham, who is also very good). But 3 of his 7 receptions have been for TD's, and he's averaging 23.9 ypc. They have been pretty electric plays, too: He'd score a TD later on that drive.
