  1. I met Joel a couple years back and the two things that stood out the most was one, he is only about 5'10ish, but two, my goodness he is still jacked, piped arms and barrel chested. The mental approach he and the teams in the 90s took into the game is an aspect I miss seeing across the board. His runs showed how bad he wanted it.
  2. Not the greatest run, but a TD run I'll always remember was Dan Alexander outrunning and distancing himself from CUs safety that was a 100m track star.
  3. Did the assistant coaching change have that much of an impact on the bats? Or can you chalk it up to just an off year? We were less than 1 hit per game worse this year than last year, but as said, the main factor was that clutch hit. Plazceks wrist injury affected him, lowering his BA 60 points. Actually, only Boldt raised his average from year to year. Darby dropped 20 points, Headley 50+, and Miller 40. The leaders and heart of the lineup really struggled at the plate. There's promise with the youth on the team, they just need to step up when presented an opportunity.
  4. Love was treated pretty poorly by Els, not surprising he straight up left. Also heard players not on 2 deep were limited to lifting during the week. Don't know how that makes sense to prevent kids from working out. I barely understood people's gripes about S&C program, not a lot of substance other than just basic complaining about injuries, until I was told examples by some connected to program.
  5. Coach lays out the options and gives the kid a chance to think about what he wants instead of string him along through fall camp. damned if you do damned if you don't. From her write up, I can see how it's harsh, but faulting the coach for being honest with him isn't a Nebraska Tradition either. Just because you're a walk on and played one season doesn't mean a kid is entitled to a spot/play time without having to continue earning it. Would love to read a finish of the story that the kid gutted it out and proved the coach wrong. I read some NU fans speak about Rudy being one instance at ND where here it's a tradition, well they aren't going to make a movie out of a kid that walks away from a challenge. I think it's time for that orange slice and juice box..,
  6. The 2010 defense was still pretty good, that secondary was elite. I hate the shoulda/woulda/coulda but that ankle sprain derailed the offense, that kid was tougher than nails to play it out and show no emotion of injury - not a boo boo. After that I questioned some of his decision making, but he was still better than anything behind him. Also kind of wonder what '09 could have been if they let him go at it As a true frosh.
  7. Kinda surprised Phillip Dillard's name hasn't been mentioned about doghouse. If it weren't for injuries at LB he would have waited longer to get the PT he deserved out of fall camp. All because he didn't get to the playing weight they wanted him at. Don't recall if Els was LB coach at the time, but glad he's gone anyway.
  8. The Jet - only Lyle could paint words to how beautiful that return was. It was art in motion. Schlesinger 2a/2b - Got the monkey off TOs back and the beginning of one of the greatest dynasties. Flea Kicker - saved a season and national title in such dramatic fashion it ushered a fanbase BACK to their seats in disbelief. Honorable Mention- Touchdown Tommy Frazieh - would have it ahead of flea kicker but without that miracle this one doesn't happen. But I mean really, how many tackles CAN one man break? Stuntz to Crouch - A win against top ranked OU meant so much it boosted/solidified his heisman worthiness - epic play in an iconic moment - and BCS title chance despite CU roasting.
  9. The only program I really worry about is Stanford and for the two exact reasons he gave. Still curious to see what Shaw can do now that Harbaughs influence has filtered out of that system.
  10. As long as he isn't in a rush to commit, time is on our side. My gut thinks top WR prospects wont take a Nebraska offer as seriously until they see the product on the field and the direction the offense will be headed. I think RBs and WRs will both be a bit gun shy. Really need some solid QB play this year as we begin the transition and establish a foundation.
  11. eek, new pic please. Riley leading the team out from the tunnel walk can't come soon enough.
  12. Going to the Miami game, any locals know how to find real cohibas? Is it possible yet with the embargo semi lifted?

    1. NUance

Idk if you can find em down there but I can tell you they are still illegal. I just got back from the Dominican where there are real Cohibas and that's like the number one question they get cus people want to bring them back.

  13. Any chance at landing Noah Dickerson now that he got his release from Florida?
  14. Woodson would have no impact in that game on defense. Unless tackling our rusher 7-10 yards downfield is considered a good thing.
  15. 40 is overrated. I've seen teammates race with and without pads, the results were different. I think a 10 yard burst and vision/feel is a more important evaluation.
  16. I'm nervous about the possibility of not running the ball as often and effectively. I'm excited to see the new defensive philosophy applied.
  17. Way to get out ahead of the fans going nuts before taking visits elsewhere. Kid is smart.
  18. Yup. And 2-3 kids who spurn low D1 offers to walkon.
  19. 2 times. Because you know, we can't line up for a game winning FG w/o a false start.
  20. He says no order, but it is clear they are 5a and 5b.If that's the result of common core...I hope I'm dead before that generation takes over
  21. Does it make a difference that everyone "starts from scratch" under Riley?
  22. Matty went with a more cryptic joke. If he can rebound, let miles lead the offer and free up another scholly.
  23. Sounds more of a RW3 QB than RG3. Good, don't want a vegetable brain after all those unnecessary hits.
