  1. Cooper is one of our most aggressive, big hit seeking tacklers. Which made it surprising to see his half-assed effort.
  2. Michigan's issue with hiring coaches is similar to ours. Both want a coach who has ties to the school. Both had long term coaches in the past who did not create coaching trees. "Proven" means nothing. "Fit" is everything. Success at one school does not always translate to another. Hell, use RichRod as an example. Great at WVU, and and he failed at Mich, but seems to have Arizona on a big uptick. (They drilled Oregon today) Proven means nothing? Come on, like I said it's hardly exact but on average you are better-off with the guy that has done more. Of course you need fit too, RR at Mich vs zona is a good example, it is worth noting though that he did lose to Wazzou just last week. I didn't say just hire off resume, it takes a certain kind of coach to succeed at Neb. Just don't see it when folks want to jump all over Frost or Moglia. If we were to replace Bo my top choice would still be Tim DeRuyter. In my opinion, i'll borrow from Jason Whitlock and say I think the difference at michigan is entitlement, which makes RR succeed at Arizona, where he can find players that are hungry to win at a lesser profile program
  3. yeah, "until", meaning that eventual he will be. not sure i would expect him to become hc material. it is possible, but it is not preordained. Yeah, I would love to him be on the sidelines, bias because he's one of my favorite Huskers. But he is gonna be a HC someday, he has good ties, is a splash recruiter, and - as much as I hate Oregon - I hope he grows there. He has made it known he wants to be at NU, if he's qualified then bring him in. Hiring a first time HC shouldn't just be a short term experience. Bo failed as a recruiter first 2 full chances, but he has redeemed himself and could establish something in a couple years, a couple reasons why I don't want to give up on him just yet. I'm not backing myself in a corner with connection hires, and as I stated above, if there's a splash hire out there I'll root for it, but I just have my doubts.
  4. This thinking is why we have a hard time finding coaches. We want someone that is "part of the family" and there are no good canidates that have ties to NU. Frost as HC at NU is laughable as he has proven absoulty nothing at Oregon. Hell if people want Frost, we may as well give the job to Gantz, he is just as qualified as Frost is. Note I said, "until," but take what you want and run with it.
  5. If Harvey Perlman or Shawn Eichorst have an effin clue, they would stand up for the program. Sadly, I doubt they care enough and don't recognize how it hurts the players and program.
  6. There's no slam dunk coach out there to bring in. Peterson? Give me a break, his team was ranked number 2 or 3 with convicted athletes behind Meyer's Florida run. Plus, recruiting BSU low admissions standards is near the equivalent of SEC. Tressel, no need for comment. Kirby Smart? Another unproven? Those names circling around don't shout longterm success. Why Pelini was hired in the first place, someone who would coach for years to come. If we brought in a coach as ESPN gushy as Meyer, I'll be glad to watch it play out and obviously root for the team. I'll eat my words even, but I just don't see us bringing in a two-time national championship type of coach that anti-Bo fans think we can hire. I'll take Pelini until Frost is ready.
  7. The team to beat last two years. They have been less than average. They have a "proven" HC with veteran coordinators...and yet they dramatically underperform, worse than NU, despite landing better recruits and signing higher ranked classes. Their program model is exactly what non Bo fans desire, yet this is supposedly the recipe for success? I'll take Bo for now, instead of a revolving door of coaches.
  8. No doubt we were screwed, but It is bad luck for Bo to get that crew 3 times. I also think that it is bad luck for Bo to be the coach when NU is leaving the Big 12, and the commissioner has it in for NU. I do understand what you're saying, I just think it's too much coincidence to just be "bad luck." There was an article written, I can't remember who, but Bo told him one of refs essentially told him a fix was in for that aTm game. Bad luck is one thing, but actively jobbing a team/coach/program is another.
  9. In 2010 the ISU/UT/aTm game were officiated by the same crew. They out penalized Nebraska something in the range of 35-6 compared to their opponents. That is NOT bad luck.
  10. Dirk is not trying to get at the truth, or make a fair comparison--like you'd think a journalist should do. He's trying to make a case in support of his agenda. NU also invented strength and conditioning as college sports programs take for granted...We are no longer cutting edge.
  11. Difference between Mich writers and NEB writers? Mich writers talk about how officiating lost them the game last year, NEB writers instantly want to fire their coach.

Dantonio was hired in 2007. Bo in 2008.

Nothing like a 6 year knee jerk reaction. Cally should have gotten a lifetime contract.

  13. Does Tosh Lupoi lose recruiting mystique if UW defense fails to become elite?

I agree. I just wonder when not the best coach catches up with elite recruiter.

I've never been impressed with him as an actual coach. His charisma is what makes him as a recruiter.

I will say though that he has to play the likes of Oregon and also a Mike Leach offense every year. While it is no excuse for the rest of the games, there is probably a reason that he hasn't been mentioned as a candidate for any DC job.

  14. If it has been said, sorry, but we need to get the TEs involved in the passing attack. EDIT: wow sorry, I just scrolled up
  15. i cannot believe he did not turn it over. i really thought we would need to force a couple to's to win. as we turns out, we could afford a couple to's and still win. We had our chances on a couple off throws. Did Santos break up Ciante's interception opportunity?
  16. Just watched the The Journey, helluva exchange between Bo and Colter

iirc, we DID have the choice and at the last minute offered Carnes. 20/20 hindsight though

Had we offered Colter, he'd be a Husker.

  17. I wonder how many trees they're killing with all these letters, and all to just impress recruits. Look at it like a positive, they're growing the economy.
  18. Fortunate to survive that one. Need the starting OL healthy and Percy ASAP! Go Hawks

Nothing, but what was the difference in the defense between weeks 1-3 and today?

    3. Savage Husker

      Savage Husker

The difference is QB play and offenses that aren't controlling the game.

  22. 2nd half adjustments, we'll be fine. Haha what am I saying...we adjust?

As much as I like Bo, i'm really tired of the "they throwin a lot at us" excuse. Football's not cut and dried. You have to anticipate and be prepared to see funky stuff.

      Savage Husker

Oh man, you said it. Week in, week out..."they threw things at us we haven't seen" ...IMPOSE YOUR WILL!!

  23. Eastern Washington, defensive/bias alumni, is for real in the FCS level and would compete with many teams in the FBS. Vernon Adams is a STUD and could very well have torched NUs secondary in week 1 too. He is more athletic and has better WRs than Brett Smith at Wyoming. Just my slightly biased opinion why the Beavers one loss blemish is being slightly overlooked.
  24. Peyton and Co looking human again

  25. It looked more back shoulder when I first saw it live, his head definitely was not "across the bow," but more legit and closer to Bell than I initially thought. Like I said, I love the aggression, but I guess Bells block and how football is being dumbed down makes me question if it was worth it.
