  1. Because he has SO MANY mistakes to learn from now! He'll be so well learnèd!
  2. Yes. The media made the team lose all of these games. They're not just reporting on it. They are slipping roofies into the food at the dining hall.
  3. I hinkle it's weirder that people are so bent about including his wife in speculation about Mike's plans for the near future. No one is insulting her or anything, unless saying someone doesn't like living in Nebraska is an insult... it's realistic to assume that his plans would include her and that they'd back a major facor... or do we just pretend she doesn't exist so no one has to say her name, which is apparently a brand new retouching faux pas.
  4. Haha you're just looking for something to be offended about at this point. This isn't Victorian England
  5. Wow. You must not be a big fan of science or inquery in general. What kind of teacher hates hypothetical questions and curiosity about possibilities?

ETA:Oh time stamp shows the time of the last post... I get it.
  7. I think you raise some valid questions and I particularly like endgame question. I know discrimination happens, I live in the South and I see it everyday. However, some is justified. There is not one person that could witness firsthand the awful things that black communities are doing to themselves and not be discriminatory. I would never allow my child to attend a school in these communities. I also live in a nice area and we have an increasing amount of black people moving in. That means they're of the same or similar socioeconomic status as we are so they earned they way here, just like us and no one in our community thinks they don't belong. But when I start hearing about protesting the police, I become deaf. Not just deaf but obstinate towards the cause. The majority of police shootings that have been brought to the attention of the media world, are in my opinion, justified. Maybe the person isn't guilty but when the police say 'DO NOT MOVE" it does not mean runaway. It does not mean argue aggressively. It means DO NOT MOVE. Sometimes you are in the wrong place and the wrong time and it needs to be sorted out. There are thousands of interactions with the police across the country daily and the ones that can be sensationalized are broadcast. I feel manipulated. It's a war cops and I cannot support any movement that is using police brutality as its cause. It just doesn't match up with what I see and my experiences. Shooting someone for walking or even running away is not justified.
  8. I agree with their right to express themselves. That doesn't mean it's not classless, tasteless, and overall unbecoming of a representative of the taxpayer-funded University if Nebraska. You are way overreacting, its a simple peaceful protest which has happened multiple times throughout history, so whats the big f'ing deal? UNL should support their right to express their views if anything, if they were an overreaching University they would force them to stop. Simply let the players stand up for what they believe in, any resistance is a totalitarian movement that will reduce productivity and make the players become less loyal to the University they support. UNL should support their right to express their opinion. Like I said, you don't have to agree with it, just understand their right to voice their opinion. Their opinion is just as valid as anyone elses. I'm not "way overreacting". Overreacting would be asking for their expulsion. I'm saying they're classless and tasteless because they're intentionally showing a lack of respect for the symbol of our country and all who've sacrificed for it; which, incidentally, has nothing to do with what they're protesting. Everyone who has ever said they're disrespecting people who have sacrificed for the country is claiming they can read people's minds. Unless these players come out and say they don't give a sh#t about how they were protected during wars, then that's just a big giant guess on your part. If you're specifically talking about the lyrics of the song, why should someone who is fighting against systematic racism care all that much about sacrifices made by our soldiers during a time when slavery was legal? Respect for the flag is something that is ingrained in the minds of all members of the military. It means respect for the people who made the flag possible, so it's easy to infer that disrespect for the flag is disrespect for the people who made the flag possible. As for people fighting against perceived systemic racism, maybe they should care about the sacrifices of those soldiers because many of their progeny paid with their lives to end slavery. Might be something worthy of respect. It's just plain silly to think anyone's doing this to specifically diss soldiers or soldiers who died for the country. Especially when lots made it clear what they're specifically doing it for. To me the flag represents the country. It doesn't represent soldiers. I wasn't in the military but my dad fought in Vietnam and my grandpa was also in the Navy. The country has sent soldiers to die for unjust causes before. It's kind of similar to being against the Iraq/Vietnam wars but not against the soldiers who fought in them. The people doing this are against systematic racism which is something they think our country is allowing. It has nothing to do with soldiers fighting for the country. The United States is NOT a military state. The military is not identical to the country. They are separate things. I don't know why this is hard for so many people to grasp. Actually, you know, it isn't. It's a cynical red herring argument.
  9. Taking a knee for prayer is a sign of respect for a higher power. Taking a knee for this countrys national anthem and all who have died to make a football game possible shows a total lack of it. People who died to...? To...? Come on.... to protect what? Our... come on... our Coooonstitional... freeeeeedoms.
  10. It could have happened while she was asleep, then she woke up and figured out what happened. Or since they were at a party alcohol may have been involved. I never buy that as an excuse. If you choose to drink then you need to understand that the things you do while under the influence may or may not be agreeable to you when you sober up, but it was YOUR decision to drink so you get to live with the consequences of your actions. (When I use the word you in this post, I don't necessarily mean you Moiraine.)Elf, just no. Maybe the way she was dressed, "she was just asking for it" too? No. If she says yes while drunk, or even because she was drunk, when she sobers up it doesn't become rape. And no I was not implying that by drinking that she was "asking for it". *Edit* I've heard some information within the last 12 hours that leads me to believe this. That's all I'm saying. You said "it was YOUR decision to drink so you get to live with the consequences of your actions". This is disgusting to hear, and honestly, if that is how you feel, I am ashamed for you. You are now saying that agreeing to sex while drunk gives the women no legal rights. However, consent cannot be given by someone who is mentally incapable or physically helpless, including as a result of alcohol. You want consequences for actions, well don't sleep with someone who is drunk; otherwise, you can live with the consequences when they sober up. Living with the consequences of our decisions to drink alcohol goes far beyond a choice to partake of sexual activities. We could list example after example of bad choices that are made while under the influence of alcohol and in the vast majority of cases we still hold those people accountable for their actions. I think it goes without saying that someone who is mentally incapable or physically helpless cannot give consent. These would be obvious exceptions to the above. Oh, in regards to your last sentence, what happens when they are both drunk and make bad decisions, what then? Simple, then both have legal rights. Of course, the woman may file for rape (which requires penetration) while the man may file for sexual assault. Consequences for actions. You keep saying that, but clearly, you have a double standard in this situation, for whatever reason. Where is my double standard? "Living with the consequences of our decisions to drink alcohol". If you think they both drank, great. Both will live with the consequences of their actions following that choice. If you agree, what are we talking about? That bolded part? That's a general statement that applies to everyone. Alcohol is a drug that affects our decision making process. If you drink enough, sooner or later you are going to make decisions you regret the next day. How do I know that? Been there, done that, not proud of it. I can't begin to count the number of people I've seen in those same shoes. If YOU agree, then what are we talking about? Remember, you challenged me in this thread, not the other way around. And for the record, I think its far more likely that everyone was drinking than one person taking advantage of a drunk girl. Okay. Let's make this really simple. It is clear you think the woman involved needs to accept the consequences of her choice to drink at a party, which apparently is rape in your definition. Now, what is not clear is whether you think the man involved needs to accept the consequences of having sex with an inebriated individual who reports said event as a crime. If you agree to the first part but not the second part, there is your double standard. Come on man, quit pulling stuff out of your anal orifice. And while you're at it, quit putting words in my mouth.Come on man, answer the question. If this was not what you meant, then you have been very unclear. You have been making assumptions. If and when you want to stop doing that and have an honest discussion, then I'm game. Until then, go pound sand. Way to evade! It's his fault that you can't clarify your position because he explained how what you said can be easily interpreted.
  11. yes armstrong f'd up...just like he had been all day...so is he calling the plays? is he making a decision to throw the ball with a minute left against a team that hasnt been able to move the ball all day. kicking the FG maybe...but how reliable is the kicker? you punt the ball into the corner. make them go at least 80yds. send pressure so the QB doesnt have time to beat your pathetic CBs deep. they have no timeouts and would have less than 40secs....there is no way this is not on the coaches! Back in the long ago times, I was at a really good Texas game and the 3rd down call (I think it was 3rd) of the final seconds of the game was to have Lord throw a pass from, like, the 5. It was intercepted. People were mad at Lord, but I defended him saying that the coaches should have known what he could and couldn't do and what the odds were of that working out even remotely well. It would be like asking a kid who is taking algebra to do your calculus homework-- it's the fault of the person asking, not the person whose limitations should be well known by the asker. same thing here. Of course, this wasn't against texas (when texas was good).
  12. As of today, it could STILL be 11-2, mathematically.
  13. I believe the enrollment @ Nebraska exceeds 50,000. The enrollment @ the U is around 10,000. Very small university located in the heart of Coral Gables which is the Beverly Hills of FL. We have a high number of both out-of-state and international students. In addition, we have pro football, basketball, baseball and soccer teams all competing for the dollar. This is by no means a college-type town. It is a private university and very expensive, negating the ability of many locals to be able to afford the tuition fees. Regardless of the fact that unless it is UF, FSU or Notre Dame. we generally have a turnout of around 40,000 which is not bad considering all factors. Surprisingly, this does not seem to affect recruiting. Nebraska showed a lot of grit in the 2nd half come-back which garnered a lot of respect from the U fans, plus I was surprised at the conditioning of your players. It was probably around 100 degrees down on the field and they never let up or drooped! Good luck in the remainder of your games. You have a gutsy group of players who will only improve as the year progresses. Well, no, UNL has 25,000 and Miami has 15,000 (and almost 10,000 staff). http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/sep/8/university-of-nebraska-enrollment-at-21-year-high/ from your link Enrollment increased by 2.3 percent at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, to slightly more than 25,000 students. The University of Nebraska Medical Center saw its student body grow by 0.4 percent, to nearly 3,700, and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture’s reported a 28 percent increase, with 384 students. The student numbers at the University of Nebraska at Kearney decreased by 2.1 percent, to more than 6,900, while the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s numbers remained unchanged at more than 15,200. By GRANT SCHULTE - Associated Press - Monday, September 8, 2014 LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Student enrollment at the University of Nebraska has grown to its highest level in 21 years, according to a report released Monday. The university announced that the total student population reached 51,215, a 1 percent increase from the fall of last year and the largest number since 1993. Again, that's the university system, hence the use of the word "total" and the statement that was quoted by Commando.
  14. I believe the enrollment @ Nebraska exceeds 50,000. The enrollment @ the U is around 10,000. A quick wikipedia or google search would tell you you're way the hell off. Sorry, the 10,000 I quoted was approx. undergrad figure. The total enrollment @ the U based on 2014 figures is 16,418 and the 9-8-14 total enrollment at Nebraska was reported at 51,215.......so not "way the hell off" Husker!!! Obviously, the point is, Nebraska is much larger, plus you have NO pro teams for competition.....do you even have another college with a D1 football team in the State of Nebraska? Nebraska's University system is not the same thing as UNL. You might be conflating those two.

  16. It's almost like these announcers are totally unfamiliar with the weather here.
  17. If only there were some ball-holding-on-to skills.
  18. Just curious-- how many national-stage-embarrassments are we tolerating this year?
  19. I'm pretty sure that statute of limitations laws don't govern civil suits (just as double jeopardy laws don't apply to wrongful death suits).
  20. That's personal opinion that you need to objectively prove plz How much Nike stock do you own? Far from proof, but Tennessee's unveil was a huge deal. Had thousands of comments across the cfb channel on reddit. There's an Adidas school starting an unveil today. Any idea who it is? A lot of comments on threads about ghosts on reddit, too.
  21. Excellent segment by Benning. +1. I didn't realize that TO put it to a team vote whether they should give LP a second chance. Tom put pros and cons on the white board before the vote, to let guys know that it would be controversial to keep him. Funny, but when people criticize TO for keeping Lawrence on the team they never mention that TO put it to a team vote as to whether they should keep him. They make it sound like it was a selfish decision on TO's part. I think TO was just trying to give the guy a second chance and send him on to the NFL in good stead. Putting it to a team vote is fine. Whatever. But Phillips should have never played another down that year. Let alone start the Fiesta Bowl. Osborne let him play and start to help him increase his draft stock so he could be rid of him. Did Osborne, a doctor of child psychology, really think that Phillips going to the NFL where there is millions of dollars in the hands of immature young people was the best option for someone like LP? Not buying it. Educational psychology. Well now this changes everything It's a pretty significant difference. Besides, you'd think people here would know what Dr. Tom's doctorate is in; he's the most famous baseketball coach the school has ever had.
