  1. I think you're being a bit bearish though history gives you every right to. From my perspective, even if we see zero improvement from the O line- the addition of an actual qb who can throw the ball, coupled with an actual competent punter and kicker alone turns games like michigan st, illinois, and minnesota into wins. I, for one, think we'll see a noticeable improvement in the o line. lets not forget they looked just fine against michigan before teddy's injury. That story of frosty needing to bring in outside help to correct jurgens snapping issues (and it was done in 5 mins) tells me g austin couldnt teach fundamentals. Pretty solid offseason knowing the season we came out of.
  2. My bad, I mistakenly assumed we were all on the same page that a team ranked towards dead last in the country in red zone efficiency and passing TDs could have benefited a bit by going to a 6'9 playmaker more often.
  3. Read what i actually posted brah- i have zero criticism of allen- my comment was 100% tied to our head scratching offensive philosophy and our subpar qb we've had at the helm tasked with executing our playbook. Both of these allen has no control over.
  4. I looked at the same stats you did and I will still continue with my diatribe, thank you very much. I made the point I think he has all the potential in the world and we did him and us a disservice by not featuring him more. Not quite sure how that is considered being critical... i sincerely hope we learn from it and actually put to use the talents of our next crop of TEs, such as fidone, who has even more upside. IF we're sitting here 3 years from now and the highlight of fidone is a season with 35ish grabs and 2 TDs all season long I would also classify that as an utter failure and waste of potential. Given the core reason this progrum has been a total embarrassment for the last 4 years is largely due to offensive f#&% ups, I think its perfectly reasonable to call out the fact we didnt leverage a clear strength on our team as much as we should have.
  5. You guys act as if our receiving records are that legendary in this program, they're not. We've never been a passing centric progrum for a substantial amount of time and our records pale in comparison to other schools on the receiving end. And to reiterate- the guy had all of 2 TD grabs this year and 38 receptions. Thats averaging 3.5 grabs a game and .3 TDs. If you look deeper you can see some games he was a compelte non factor... if you think thats properly utilizing a 6'9 monster of a target, particularly when our actual scoring numbers were abismal, than i dont know what to tell ya, perhaps you should put on your critic hat a bit. Lastly, @TheSker, careful calling the kettle black. I'm sure you've had a few posts being a bit critical. Comes off a bit hypocritical calling ppl out on a message board when I'm sure you've toed the waters yourself, no?
  6. probably because we leveraged about 25% of his potential between play-calls that egregiously ignored his presence coupled with a qb who somehow found a way to overthrow a 6'9 target consistently He's an NFL lock in my mind, perhaps not the most top end speed compared to some of the other freak TEs in the league as of late but Id be shocked if a team doesnt spend a mid/late pick on him (4-6)
  7. Wait, how is he considered one of ours? Is it his practice squad stint with the Omaha Nighthawks that gives us the right to claim him?
  8. Our special teams were great At being s#!tty
  9. Curious, what marker are we using to claim we had a top 20 offense? Feels like both yardage and scoring we were nowhere close to this kind of ranking
  10. The o line was pretty embarrassing throughout the year, that being said, I actually put more of the scoring/redzone troubles on frosty/lubick and QB play moreso than the O line. Clearly we could move the ball despite some s#!t a$$ O line fundamentals yet couldnt do s#!t to punch it in for 7. Too many head-scratching play calls/formations within the 10 yard line (100% on coaching) and too many errant throws and missed reads for wide open TD throws (2AM) I'm really looking forward to some sound qb play for what feels like the first time in close to 14 years
  11. Seeing how I can't recall the last time we went through a season without some kind of injury to the qb spot, the more the merrier. Off the top of my head, I think maybe armstrongs 2nd year he went every game without an injury and other than that, maybe all the way back to a ganz year? Point being, unless whipple truly shifts this offense to a pocket centric qb, both qbs stand a very high chance of playing time and starting games.
  12. Ironic, good ole Bob could use that same quote to describe his piss poor conference self-imploding under his leadership. Why they letting a D2 commissioner have a say in anything? let the big boys decide
  13. Feels like the vast majority of you are just b!^@hing that bowl season sucks because your team sucks and wasn’t in a bowl. bowl season has always been cluttered with s#!t games and maybe a handful worth watching. Playoffs have not made this better or worse i support the move to expand playoffs. Theoretically it should make the conf title games more meaningful. Under today’s circumstances, they rarely are. to posters calling out players not wanting it or not being a team sport anymore. What a load of s#!t… I saw plenty more of kids giving it their all vs those half assing it or opting out this bowl season. nothing’s perfect, sure things can be better. But let’s not take our frustration of being one of 2 teams (with Kansas) without a bowl appearance the last 5 years and misdirect it a b!^@h fest as the why CFB is dead
  14. Our o line sucked a$$ and cost us many games 2AM was great at times and pitiful at others. Purdue comes to mind, cant put inexcusable and careless play from 2AM on our o line both of these above can be true and exist independently of the other
  15. lol, i mean sure the past 2 decades def were rough compared to the previous 2 before it. But, outside of the cally years, last year and a half of bo, year 3 of riley, and frosty not stacking wins last 2 years, weve had some solid success.
  16. lol, i was mocking all of those other posters that spreading doom n gloom on said hires before said hires were even made. i know its been a tough few years but common people, be a little optimistic before we even know what the final out come is! but sure ill take a twinkle
  17. Definitely agree it was a wasted opportunity. Optimistic tho its a potential preview of whats on the horizon. As a progrum we've done some very dumb s#!t collectively over the past 6-8 years yet probably most concerning to me is the significant decline in talent we were placing in the draft. Still a lot of room for improvement but 6 guys potentially drafted into the league that all play high demand positions in the NFL right now is promising. Hopefully just the start of a trend like this that can continue to increase. Definitely a shame we didnt stack more W's and take advantage of said talent
  18. Hey guys, I just wanna let you know that I'm convinced we're absolutely rat f'd on the last remaining staff hires and want to start a discussion on it. I mean common, its gonna be a train wreck. I dont even know who the last hires will be but i know damn well im already pissed about it
  19. lol, why are you clicking into the thread if you dont want the thread to exist
  20. He simply hasn't had the resources and pedigree at his disposal, always punching in a weight class above him. Imagine what he'll do here
