  1. You'd think we woulda have learned a month back to always have a guy ready to hit stick the punter if he wants to try that run s#!t... nope... Whats that line, those who dont study history are bound to repeat it? Does this staff not look at game tape from the week prior after a game? Same penalties, same ineffective plays, same embarassing gaffes... must be nice to just completely lack the concept of a memory
  2. why we do we get so f'n cute at the goaline... where is the I formation? none of these formations and plays are conducive to power football
  3. Some kind of captain... at what point does the concept of accountability get applied to a "captain" who continually puts his team in a position to be embarassed
  4. lololol, perhaps thats the real issue maybe this team needs to switch this and be scared as hell of failure because they seem awfully comfortable failing flat on their face each and every week
  5. Are we the only team not aware of the fair catch to the 25 rule?
  6. 2nd to last in 3rd down conversions is a direct indictment on this staff not putting these kids in a position to succeed. why do we over complicate things when we don’t have the basics down
  7. I’m so close to turning this s#!t off and we’re 2 minutes in... not a single pass beyond line of scrimmage. THIS NEVER WORKS, WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO PLAY HORIZONTALLY AND NOT VERTICALLY why do we run the ball with success right up the middle AND THEN GO RIGHT BACK TO TURNOVER PRONE s#!t. THIS TEAM IS SO DUMB. THIS STAFF IS SO DUMB. PLEASE NO BOWL GAME
  8. lol, i dont have an opinion either way. I feel like this program always has that one name that seems to be on the roster for a decade straight. Early 2010s it was the cottons and now the Farnioks have assumed that mantle... Wandale have any younger sibs we can get on the roster?
  9. Henry Mckenna solid sipping bourbon, my only challenge is its a bit tricky to track down where I live. Highly recommend Belle Meade out of Nashville. Discovered this from a buddy probably 6+ years ago and starting to see this become more main stream and widely available. Nice little kick but smooth as hell for sipping purposes... I'd argue on the level of $60-$75 bottles- I constantly find this anywhere from mid 30s-$40ish.
  10. theres prolly a 5th farniok brother lurking and ready to join the nebraska o line next season. Wouldnt be a nebraska line without a farniok on there
  11. Kudos... I dont think its appropriate to lay blame on a generation period, specially when the process in question (transfer portal) was put in place by those in power most likely in their 40s-60s... Kids have always been self centered, naive, and feel invincible. Sure, its easier for them to go elsewhere today, but thats a result of a rule change, not some societal miss with a whole generation. If anything, we should be figuring out how we can best position this progrum to play by the new rules- and thats largely driven by on the field results. I'd rather look internally and address all of the misses from this staff that put us int his situation, compared to b!^@hing about some transfer portal which applies to every football team, not just ours.
  12. TL:DR- we should be striving to be an ideal school to take advantage of the new transfer rules and bring in great talent we missed out of high school, instead of being that school that cant retain its existing talent or attract the right talent via the transfer portal because we cant even answer who exactly we are as a team
  13. I'd somewhat agree society as a whole seems to be a bit more impatient, that being said, if we really want to get historical here, aren't humans hardwired in their survival instincts to prioritize instant gratification and immediate gain over one that takes longer? Concepts such as impulsiveness, the plight of uncertainty on the human mind, and man's ongoing battle to look past immediate rewards for a bigger reward down the line have been well documented by humanity for thousands of years. In this case, If wan'dale doesn't see whats in it for him to stick around then shame on our staff for letting him down. He's a young man and if he feels his life will be better off and be presented with greater opportunity elsewhere, then good for him and shame on us for not delivering on that. Sure, as a society as whole, we definitely exhibits traits that would scream instant gratification because of the on-demand nature of how we live compared to before. Where I think we disagree- if this was truly a systemic situation of humans today we would see essentially free agents in a constant revolving door year to year. While transfers are up- schools who have their s#!t together don't struggle with this- we seem to struggle with it because we dont have our s#!t in order. So to me, its hard for me to chalk this up to a change in society and rules of the game, when really the blame resides internally and is more driven by how atrocious this team looks at times and how consistent progress has not been an available adjective to describe nebraska since Bo's early run from 08-2010. Your last sentence is probably the most pivotal to my stance- "when it comes to building a functioning football team". We don't have a functional football team period and I couldn't really tell you what we've built in the past 3 years outside of being more physical and competitive to our competition that day.... To me, the lack of a functional team has more to do with an inept coaching staff who is under qualified moreso than a proverbial revolving door of players that is creating an environment not conducive for chemistry and progression.
  14. I read your posts as more or less agreeing with one of the first posts saying kids in his classes today are all about instant gratification... I don't see other schools having a challenge with this transfer portal to the extent this team does- sure, transfers are easier, but if it were truly a change in rules and kids these days scenario then this would be widespread across the board... What I take offense to in your post, and a few others, is chalking up Nebraska's situation to a simple rule change impact and kids behavioral patterns today that is unique to this school. Frankly, I'm a fan of the transfer portal. College coaches and admins have been asking 15-17 year olds to commit and dedicate a good chunk of their development years only to have said coaches and admins get up and leave for a higher paying job at moments notice for decades without accountability, but when a better opportunity comes across for said kid, naw you need to wait out a year and think about the decision you've made... Hypocrisy at its finest. Wandale made a commitment to SF and this staff and SF made a commitment to Wandale and his family- if Wandale feels like SF has whiffed on this or can't deliver what he was sold on, he should find an opportunity better for him, regardless if its right or wrong. I said in my posts, which we seem to agree with, this is a direct result of the lessening of repercussions of transferring. I still stand by my comment that every school is playing by this rule and the real troubling trend is self inflicted and we'd be better off figuring out how to right this dumpster fire, instead of chalking up potential transfers to just relaxed rules and how kids operate today.
  15. Yeah I feel like you're still associating theories about generational behavioral patterns and the situation on this team. This wasnt a challenge 5 years ago for this program. Many of these players probably have older siblings that fit that time frame and would have similar "traits of a generation" Kids didn't magically change in the past 5 years. What changed is this progrum is now a pile of s#!t more often than not. I know its hard to accept that as fans who have followed this team for decades- but this means absolutely nothing to a 17-20 year old kid who's only memory of nebraska being somewhat decent was when we got curbed stomped by wisconsin in the big 10 title game and every other big game that mattered.
  16. I wasnt trying to be a smart a$$, rather calling out your misguided, and age old take, that theres something off or different about the younger generation. I'm gonna repost your exact quote below- this is literally your exact words first indirectly referring to kids being different (your first sentence) and then directly associating a change in rules for every single team with the lack of transfer impact somehow equating to kids being different. News flash, players have been transferring for decades. It just happens there are way less consequences to do so today vs the past. The head coach of this dumpster fire happens to fall in this category during his playing years. This is an end result of a rule change, this is not a result in some cultural shift in "today's youth". This wasn't an issue for this school all of 5-6 years ago, either the new generation of kids and shift in mindset must have occurred recently or a simpler reason probably exists that this situation is the blind leading the blind in that locker room and some want out. I think my comprehension is just fine, don't get your panties in a twist because you got called out for riding both sides of the argument
  17. I mean your first paragraph is the exact opposite description of wandale’s experience to this point. and then u just listed every other plausible scenario besides transferring off a winning team while being a starter. Newsflash- it has nothing to do with kids today, you just feel like it is because your team is utter s#!t week to week and wanna blame “how a generation operates” instead of just admitting this appears to be a sinking ship that people are done with. You don’t see this at successful schools. Sure some transfers here and there- so not sure why it’s not a generational problem there yet, for Nebraska, kids are just different these days. stay on your lawn and tell some more stories how you walked uphill to school and from school, in the freezing rain while carrying boulders in your back pack back in your day
  18. Ah yes, the classic get off ma lawn, back in my day appearance. Ill give u one thing, we wont see consistent top performers until we start winning. We will prolly suffer with some transfers but thats not a reflection of todays generation- kids been transferring for decades out of piss poor situations which is exactly what we find ourselves standing in right now. Perhaps the transfer portal has made it easier with less repercussions, but thats on the NCAA and powers that be for making that call. News flash, kids 30 years ago also prioritized playing for winning teams. The only difference is we were once that and how we're cellar dwellers looking up to everyone else
  19. woulda loved to see him on the field to see what we have but my guess is AM and Luke are simply much further ahead than him practice wise. Perhaps a standard off season and fall camp might have made smothers a possibility given the piss poor play at QB but im sure Frosty and co viewed that as more of a risk than reward pay out.... specially behind a line that cant snap the damn ball consistently
  20. I dont think its mind boggling at all. Rewatch this past weekends game and the noodle arm on display throughout. Luke cannot be trusted to throw more than 5 yards, AM seems to have the arm but his accuracy and precision is just no where close to sufficient for consistent results. At least not the results this fan base expects
  21. To me, its two fold. 1. We definitely have the talent in the program to win the west but its young. While great in the locker room, I cannot think of a senior on the team who also shows leadership by being a true difference maker on the actual field during the game. Perhaps CTB fills this role but his (and other DBs) propensity to lead with the helmet and get booted from the game disqualifies him for this consideration. 2. Where we are most deficient in talent needed for consistent success happens to be the most vital single position in all of sports- Quarterback. One could argue our lack of a guy on the d line who can singularly disrupt an opposing offense and require OCs to gameplan around that guy is almost as important, but I still think its #2 behind QB play...It was on full display this past weekend, even against a porous defense down a lot of starters, we dont have a single QB who can simply get an open guy the ball when it needs to be there. #2 above creates an uphill scenario for any RB to succeed when defenses know we're 99% running based. It creates an uphill scenario for any of these young WRs to show growth and progress when they cant get the damn ball in space. And it creates an uphill scenario for real difference makers, like wandale, when he is not only our top weapon but safety valve and spot running back Glass half full/half empty take: Half full: With this year being free of eligibility we essentially gained a year of experience for some real young dudes on the O line and elsewhere (WR, rb, etc) Half empty: Because of frostys need to stack wins and our consistent mode of playing to the level of the opponent- we didnt have a single opportunity to get playing time for other young guys who have potential because every single game was close or we got our asses kicked. We don't hang w/ NW and Iowa if we don't have the talent. Perhaps a little more seasoning would turn these into wins... I'd aruge a bit more seasoning for both the players and this coaching staff is whats really needed
  22. I’m fine with the 3-4 lol... I meant our o line needs an overhaul
  23. DUDE. Why do we only have 5 in the box on a clear running play given the situation my god... qb coach O line coach DC all of the above needs to kick rocks. There has been minimal progress on the top 2 and Chins philosophy is sooooooo passing prevent coverage aligned... we’re in the f’n big 10 playing a December game against the best back in the league... coach against that accordingly for Christ sake
