  3. A sad fact that I’ve been noticing lately: Most people don’t really have a passion that they pursue. They aren’t dedicated to anything. Especially younger people.

A lot of people I know just watch Netflix and work. That’s it. Nothing else. Drinking was their only hobby outside of that.

What?  I thought the "younger crowd" was saving the world and stuff..oh way...that was all BS...just like when I was part of the younger crowd!  ha

I don't think this is new at all.  I think "most" people have always gone to work, came home and dealt with family stuff, went to bed, woke up the next day and did it again.  Rinse, lather, repeat.  Outside of a few hobbies, I would guess this is the way it works for a huge chunk of the world.

People are very lucky if they can afford the time and/or cash needed to pursue other passions outside of their employment.  That's why I think it is pretty damn important to find a place to work that you love, or at least won't drive you nuts!

I'd be really surprised if he won at anywhere near the clip that Urban did. 83-9?  You really think Day is going to win 91/100 at Ohio St. (if he lasts that long).  Urban was an elite coach. One of the best to ever do it. I think you may be taking for granted what he did there. Maybe Day will be nearly as good as Meyer, but there seems to be just as good of a chance he's the next Luke Fickle. Hell, I think he'll lose  3 games next year.

Didn’t watch.  My understanding is the Texans left the field for the national anthem and then came back for the show of unity.  I’m fine with the show of unity.  But an opposing team needs to make their statement by leaving the field for the anthem and then comes back.  Yep if you are the home crowd I’d see why you would boo them.

  14. Hear me out on this. Unless the new WRs are THAT bad at blocking why are you putting Liewer, Kade, and Falck out there? It’s obvious that they are short term plugs. I would rather suffer short term and throw Betts, Flemming, Brown, or Hickman to the wolves and let them play. I predict by the end of the year this is what happens.

Hickman and Brown were dinged up a bit coming into the game, Betts is still learning the offense, and Manning and Fleming are being a couple knuckle-heads right now.  Hopefully things will improve and these guys will get on the field.

@ColoradoHusk On Big Red Overreaction, Benning said some interesting things.  he mentioned that JD was sort of a pain in the a$$ last year, and that Manning and Fleming are causing issues.  He said Betts has done everything asked but is still learning.

    2. Enhance

      Enhance

@funhusker I'm sure that plays a big role in only how long the overall game is structured (particularly for advertising). But, I think they could still probably make some alternative work out if it was something quick and definitive like free kicks or something.

    3. The Dude

      The Dude

There should be 1 sudden death OT period, then if they tie, they tie.  Sometimes nobody deserves to win.

    4. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

Or why not just tack on an extra 15 minutes and play it out completely. If they're still tied, add another 15 minutes. Rinse, repeat.

If they're not going to adopt the college rules (or some variation of them) to give each team a shot, then just make it an open quarter.

  16. Human officials need to be replaced in 2020 with robot officials. Some of these calls during this bowl series have been AWFUL even with review.

I can see the OPI being called if the ref saw the Duck defender trying to get away from the WR to break up the pass and the WR is still pushing him. That explanation by the TV Ref was BS though.

    3. swmohusker

      swmohusker

Tough job.  They do a great job 99% of the time.  Thought it was OPI live.  The WR needs to release and run if his job is to clear out the CB.  The way he ran the route made it look like he was trying to pick the CB.  Poor technique.

    4. jaws

I feel that we need to get away from conferences being in charge of officials. I can't figure out when they should or shouldn't call targeting and what a catch is. On the targeting note, why are we kicking players out of games for some of these hits? The outcome of a game shouldn't rest on which officials you get.  I am not looking for perfection, just some consistency.

Since taking the Bears to the SB in the 2006 season, Lovie went 60-68 over 8 NFL seasons.  And he now is 5-19 in 2 years at Illinois.  I think its safe to say that he best coaching days have passed him by.

Two to three years? That long to get rid of Lovie? I figure if his plan to play younger players doesn't pay dividends this year, he's already out.

    3. commando

      commando

he said our guys didn't even try today.    what would that mean if the players are even trying to win for the coach and fans?   either they aren't trying because they don't believe....or they were instructed to not try.   i doubt it's the 2nd option.

    4. HuskerInLostWages

      HuskerInLostWages

I think they simply aren't that talented.  Some of them were under Rileys coaching for 3 years, not easy to revert back to garbage after that's all you've been taught the last few years.  Also not easy to want to win when you're lackadaisical work ethic was never questioned prior to this year.  Until now, this was acceptable for Nebraska coaches, I hope Frost shoves his foot way up these kids hind quarters and informs them if he see's this kind of attitude, meet Mr. Bench and pray you dont get a splinter.
