Heritage and legacy don't seem to matter anymore. How hard must it be to recruit when your trying to sell culture. And honestly, Pelini was right, trying to sell Lincoln is pretty tough when you're up against beaches and warm weather and agents in hot tubs. I said it in a thread and got crap on by the condoling crowd- but I'll take kids that want to play ball so bad that they'll sue over a five star that will bolt or sit. And I don't give a rip about their NFL "potental." What a waste of resources. There has got to be enough talent in a 500-1000 miles to field a team, and throw in the diamond's in the rough-like Suh.

@Decked Oh I understand why we're seeing a bunch of frosh transferring before they've even suited up for us. I still don't like the way it works nowadays. I much preferred the days when the players, to a much greater extent, honored their commitments and at least pretended to have some pride and school spirit. It's really nothing more than a business now. It may not be a popular opinion but the last thing I wanted CFB to become was just another pseudo professional league. Transfer portal, NIL concerns....I don't like what it's become or where it's going. Sure the schools have made a pretty penny on their backs but it's only downhill from here, The more autonomy and bigger slice of the pie they get, will get, the more they also will need to be treated as a dispensible commodity. People b!^@h about the way Saban does things but I don't blame him one bit, Bama was just ahead of the curve. It's just what the game is becoming and that's not the game I grew to love.

Kevin Warren should be fired if the big 12, SEC, and ACC end up playing.
-
Cade Johnson is in the portal. Not sure if he’s interested in N but that would be a great pickup

Well what the hell do we do now? Talk to our family? Who does that.

@teachercd, do you expect us to believe your morning drinking has been social before now?
-
@teachercd your consumption will go down. No drinking away a 50 point curb stomping by night.

New season of Last Chance U is out. Laney College in California. No dorms & scholarships in that state for JUCO ball!
-
Watched it all and I liked it a lot better then every season but I guess the first EMCC (probably because it was the first season and not well known, so it felt more "real"). The coach is so much more likable the Buddy or JB, the players are so much more grounded (though the only one I especially like was Dior) as the player's expectations were much more realistic (really only one guy was guaranteed D1 with the other ones besides RJ looking more towards using football as an avenue to get any type of scholarship for more schooling to better their lives instead of thinking D1/P5 or bust).

A sad fact that I’ve been noticing lately: Most people don’t really have a passion that they pursue. They aren’t dedicated to anything. Especially younger people.

I don't think this is new at all. I think "most" people have always gone to work, came home and dealt with family stuff, went to bed, woke up the next day and did it again. Rinse, lather, repeat. Outside of a few hobbies, I would guess this is the way it works for a huge chunk of the world.
People are very lucky if they can afford the time and/or cash needed to pursue other passions outside of their employment. That's why I think it is pretty damn important to find a place to work that you love, or at least won't drive you nuts!

Anyone else keep checking huskers.com to see updated roster weights/numbers? Really curious to see how much some of these guys have changed.

After following a lot of Nebraska players on twitter: it is hilarious to me how people think this program is squeaky clean. Everyone on the team has way too nice of a car for a college aged student
-
Jaiden Francois already gone. That’s two 4 star DBs that have already departed the 2020 class.

For anyone who needs to hear it: being a mid 30s/40 year man and tweeting 17 year old football recruits is weird.
-
The media seems to be really pushing athletes to attend HBCU’s especially after a 5 Star basketball prospect picks Howard over UCLA. Seems like a one year wonder kind of deal once this blows over but this will be interesting.

@BigRedBuster I think this is referencing historically black colleges and universities.
We should be more mindful and fair about word choice here, though. Some 'smaller sports media sites on Twitter' is not the same as or equivalent to "the media." It's important to eliminate these kinds of narratives because they're fabulously generic and unfair.

Imagine being a racist and then getting 1.1 mil & benefits for 15 months after being let go. College football coaches man..

Why does Ford choose the least friendly design in every capacity when it comes to automotive maintenance in the f150? Good lord.

@ZRod there are of course expensive parts in an electric vehicle, but it's mostly the battery. Motors are not that expensive when compared to an internal combustion engine or transmission.
But in general electric vehicles have fewer maintenance requirements and lower maintenance costs: https://avt.inl.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/fsev/compare.pdf

@Ulty what. Have. I. Done.

Recruitment has gone full freak out mode. It’s time to take a step back. We’ll be fine. Remember last year?

I did that big brother/big sisters program a few years back and my "little" is now 18. The amount of cringe worthy stuff he does on social media almost makes me forget all the crap I did at 18. While I get you are joking, many took to Twitter to just destroy the kid when he was just acting like a lot of 18 year olds.

Nebraska football in a nutshell is basically how many repeated blows can you take before you finally don’t care anymore. I don’t miss spring football or college athletics nearly as much as I thought I would.

@Decked - I feel you brother. My age, coupled with the absolute ho hum efforts of our men's athletes and their "I'm entitled attitudes" is rapidly turning me off. (turning me off is probably not the right words, more like "you reap what you sow" so if our athletes are sowing uninteresting effort then I'll reap back a numbingly bored interest.)

I agree with that. I can see the targeting call but not the ejection in this case.....not the ejection in a lot cases. But I also think the refs have enough on their plate without trying to judge intent. I don't have an answer other than to say "that's football" and people are going to have to accept some level of violence. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I probably won't get my way.
-
Human officials need to be replaced in 2020 with robot officials. Some of these calls during this bowl series have been AWFUL even with review.

I feel that we need to get away from conferences being in charge of officials. I can't figure out when they should or shouldn't call targeting and what a catch is. On the targeting note, why are we kicking players out of games for some of these hits? The outcome of a game shouldn't rest on which officials you get. I am not looking for perfection, just some consistency.

Cleaned out my Twitter & Facebook follows/friends today. Man that was overdue.

Mel Tucker is gonna pull in a lot of good prospects out of Colorado here pretty soon.
-
If you or a loved one have recently been victimized by Nebraska athletics you may be entitled to compensation

Another year of graduation/departures is going to do this team a lot of good
