  2. Bold prediction for the future of college football: Ryan Day will have little to no dropoff when it comes to success at Ohio State. Love what he’s doing with his staff already.

I'd be really surprised if he won at anywhere near the clip that Urban did. 83-9?  You really think Day is going to win 91/100 at Ohio St. (if he lasts that long).  Urban was an elite coach. One of the best to ever do it. I think you may be taking for granted what he did there. Maybe Day will be nearly as good as Meyer, but there seems to be just as good of a chance he's the next Luke Fickle. Hell, I think he'll lose  3 games next year.

I know it was only a few games, but tOSU played better under Day to start the season.

But we've got the heart now. Love SMJ calling for the ball before our last score. We should have gave it to him , but we still scored.

They have the players to win, they need near flawless execution to win now and  depth in the future to win against elite talent. OSU is not playing elite and their best statistical games are against teams with a combined 4 wins.

  7. I’m not watching another game this season if Martinez isn’t starting. Our players didn’t even try today minus some of the guys on D. Why should I watch?

@commandoI don't read that from Decked.  It is hard as hell to watch Bunch, he is not a D1 QB(well he is, but he shouldn't be).

    3. commando

      commando

he said our guys didn't even try today.    what would that mean if the players are even trying to win for the coach and fans?   either they aren't trying because they don't believe....or they were instructed to not try.   i doubt it's the 2nd option.

    4. HuskerInLostWages

      HuskerInLostWages

I think they simply aren't that talented.  Some of them were under Rileys coaching for 3 years, not easy to revert back to garbage after that's all you've been taught the last few years.  Also not easy to want to win when you're lackadaisical work ethic was never questioned prior to this year.  Until now, this was acceptable for Nebraska coaches, I hope Frost shoves his foot way up these kids hind quarters and informs them if he see's this kind of attitude, meet Mr. Bench and pray you dont get a splinter.

I will assume it is due to his position in the depth chart. He probably came here to start, and to me, this implies he was not going to. Unless, it's for non-football, personal reasons.

Since taking the Bears to the SB in the 2006 season, Lovie went 60-68 over 8 NFL seasons.  And he now is 5-19 in 2 years at Illinois.  I think its safe to say that he best coaching days have passed him by.

Two to three years? That long to get rid of Lovie? I figure if his plan to play younger players doesn't pay dividends this year, he's already out.

Didn't he do that initially?  Wouldn't it be wiser to have a plan of action instead of jumping at the first thing that sounded like it was what you wanted?  What would have happened had he fully committed to Nebraska then pulled the plug and left?

    3. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

Redux, I hope it turns out that Bookie comes back.  I will agree to disagree with you on this topic.  A young persons education should always be first.

If he had a boatload of offers why didn't he take the time to consider that coaches leave universities every year. What will I do if this coach is not here next year?  I just can't agree that pinning your entire future on one coach is  a wise decision.

It will be exciting to see who he finally decides to play for. There's plenty of time left for him to visit other places, consider his choices and who knows-by then Nebraska may have a new coach.  That could considerably effect Bookie's choice. I think we can both agree that we would like him here.  GBR!

    4. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

One thing I don't think has been discussed is the intent of Bookie to enroll early so he can participate in spring ball.  It is possible (doubtful) Bookie still comes to Lincoln but he needs to have his bases covered in case Nebraska can't get a good coach.  He doesn't want to be caught unprepared.  As a young man with NFL talent and a desire to reward his mother and brothers for all their hard work he needs to be at a school that will develop his skills further.  Bookies's strength is covering receivers like a blanket not playing 8 yards off the line in this 3-4 defense.

  18. McElwain out. Tenn will follow soon. Time to pull the plug on Riley and make some moves before it's too late.

Never react because of what other schools are doing. Both Tennessee and Florida look really desperate at this point. If Nebraska wants Frost, I imagine they will contact him behind the scenes. The current public status of MR will not stop them from contacting agents. Florida is not looking good in all of this and they are not putting their next coach in a great position to succeed.

  19. Honestly what did you guys expect? We knew after NIU this season was a wash. This season is done. Riley is done. Just try and enjoy the rest of the year.

Can't find the post ... but I had a post where my score was 38-17.  Not proud of that prediction.  Just too bad.  Man, this could really spiral out of control in a lot of ways.  I'm sad.

I didn't notice Marcus as much as some people did, so I guess he didn't screw up too bad. I was watching the line, who did well, and our corners, who did poorly.
