  1. I don't believe it was grades. I thought that he transferred too many times so he wasn't eligible.
  2. How exactly do you get a kid who is 5'9 to play bump and run against an all-american NFL bound 6'5 receiver? You actually think he'll be able to bump him off his route? Grixby would just get pushed into the dirt and left in Jarrett's dust.
  3. What we need is for him to boot one to the back of the endzone a couple times so that we all know that it can be done if they want it. It does seem like his leg strength is a little weak, even on extra points and field goals. But I guess as long as he keeps putting them through the uprights I really shouldn't care if the ball is a bullet or a floater.
  4. I like how people seem to think that Keller is going to come here and be the same party animal he was there. First of all, has Callahan ever shown that he tolerates such behavior? How many kids have been kicked off for rules violations? I get the impression that it is either Callahan's way or goodbye. He's not going to put up with a kid who is more focused on partying than playing. He got Mckeon goin, and Mckeon parties about as hard as any of them.
  5. If that's the case, then letting Keller go due to a few complaints would be the "mistake". If Carpenter threatened to quit, then you try talk the kid out of it! if the switch was made from Friday to Saturday it doesn't seem, on the surface, like Koetner put much effort into that. UNLESS, of course, that's what the meeting was all about. you just don't screw your starter and tell him he's gonna ride the pine next season because a sophomore was threatening to quit! I feel sorry for Koetner, this is a hell of a position to be put in. It actually makes Mack Brown's handling of Applewhite and Simms look complimentary. Agreed I believe the biggest problem with the situation was that Carpenter is also very good. There wasn't much if any separation between the two so he initially gave it to the senior, if roles were reversed Carpenter would probably be starting. I'm guessing that if one or the other are going to quit then I'm sure he's thinking it best to keep the sophmore since he's got more time and there isn't a drop in talent. But then you also put yourself in a hell of a predicament because now what kind of message does this send to the rest of the team.
  6. Considering that he was/is the preseason all pac10 first team he would be a great filler for next years transition for the new qb's. I don't think he'll have much problem beating out the other guys due to their lack of experience. People over there seem to be really pissed about these recent events because it seems from most accounts that this guy was a really good kid. He won his position but a few of the players including Carpenter's roommate made some complaints and Carpenter also threatened to quit. But it doesn't sound like this was the idea of most of the team but rather a selected few. It does sound like he may very well be N. Not verified but very close.
  7. Not 2 years to play. 2 years to be on scholi. It basically is like a walk-on for the first 2 years with the promise of the scholi after that. He can earn it quicker if he makes an immediate impact with special teams
  8. Exactly. What other offers does this kid have beside CSU? He may be getting this scholarship offer only because he is a Nebraska player. He still has a lot to prove and from what I've read from other people who were at the camp, this doesn't surprise them. He's got good measurables but things like stiff hips and change of direction are left to be desired. If he wants a scholi, he's still got his senior year to earn one. We don't need to hand them out like they're popsicles.
  9. Sounds like he got the same deal as Abner for now. Walk on for 2 years and then go on scholi for 2 years. He could earn it earlier if he makes an impact at ST's. Doesn't sound like his father likes the deal so much though.
  10. Anything? Like give him a start spot or the 2 deep? Cuz that's what he wanted.
  11. Failed is a poor choice of wording. It's sucks to let him get away but other than switch his position once again what do you suggest? We've got Lucky, Glenn, B Jacks who has playing experience and is still good, and then Wilson coming in. All of them have a RS available to them so even a year from now even if Leon RS it still doesn't change his situation much. I think he could have made an impact at WR if he had been working on it since the beginning but he hasn't, and I doubt that he wants to start over once again.
  12. Outside of safety, what positions do you think he could have made an immediate impact? I guess I fail to see how this is the coaches fault when they gave him shots at RB twice and twice he's failed. He moved back to that spot off of defense because he wanted to. Coaches didn't make him do it. Even the WR's are deep with talent with more coming. Safety was his best chance and he decided against it. Also none of us really know how well he was even practicing there although it did sound like he was struggling. Jackson leaving is a sign of the talent that we have on this team. It has to be considered a good thing if we can't find a position for a top50 player to make it in the 2 deep in his second year.
  13. As much as I hate to see him go, I almost think it would be the smart thing for him to go. He has been riddled with injuries throughout his career and this is his first year that he hasn't been injured. Who's to say he won't get injured next year?
  14. Scout doesn't really review Jucos which is why Super D was a 1 star. Rivals on the other hand does. That's why Super D was a 5 star there. Oddly enough though they have our jucos rated pretty high this year.
