  1. It's based off conference records. But if NW wins out and NU, MSU, and Mich all beat up on each other, NW could sneak back in due to head-to-head records with in-division foes since their two losses now are from the other division. However, I really like NU's chances to get to the CCG.
  2. HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOO MONDAY HELLLOOOOO COLUMBUS DAY Should I feel bad that federal employees are still laid off but as a State employee I get a totally ridiculous paid "holiday" off? Also, I can't wait for Arbor Day to roll back around again.
  3. Fighting the police usually turns out to be such a good decision, too. He was already cuffed, it probably seemed like a good idea to keep fighting. Gotta show 'em that Michigan fans are tough!
  4. Good lord, an entire generation will have been born and in and out of college between the signing of the Tennesse contract and the date that the actual games will be played.
  5. One thing is clear: Stanton is likely to be one of next year's most popular Huskers, and every interception or punt following an Armstrong-led drive next year will result in multiple threads calling for Armstrong's benching.
  6. I love reading threads in which people can talk about schemes and strategies and components of the game that I don't know as much about. I don't know X's and O's very well, and it's enlightening to read some of this stuff on Huskerboard and actually learn something. But when you keep throwing out the "I know more football than you" and "I watch more film than you" in so many threads and give a dismissal of "tough having any type of meaningful dialogue," you no longer come off as an intelligent student of the game, you come off as a condescending douchebag. imo
  7. For some reason it warms my heart to see Gabbert all alone in the left-most column for QB suckitude.
  8. If only we had a real quarterback to throw to them the past couple years...we coulda won state. (before anyone gets bent out of shape, that was a joke. I like T-Mart.)
  9. Wow, a lot of people just like being dicks around here.
  10. I usually don't make very good predictions against the spread and would never put actual money on a game, but man, I will be pretty disappointed if we can't beat Purdue by more than 14 points. That might lead to a few unprecedented threads in which people call for firing of certain coaches or benching of certain players.
  11. Hahaha...now that says a lot to how convincing the win was if Herbstreit was willing to admit it. Probably took everything he had to say that. Now, if we can only get some of our fans to believe that. Bet we could manipulate a poll to show that 2013 Nebraska is the 3rd best college football team of all time!
  12. You're right, most college students are probably studying at 11am on Saturday mornings.
  13. Yep. After everything else we've seen this season, I don't know how anyone can look at today's defensive performance and not be at least somewhat more encouraged than we have been since the end of August.
  14. I'm loving what Tommy Armstrong is showing us so far, but I don't think it's enough to unseat a healthy Martinez. Armstrong hasn't faced adversity in a game yet, and we know that Martinez has the ability to rise to the occasion it tight spots, even if he is mistake prone at other times. Going back to Martinez's freshman year, even as bright as his future looked, he still had a number of freshman jitters that cost us, and almost any freshman starter can expect the same growing pains. I would still prefer to have Martinez in those situations when we get to the tough stretch of our schedule, assuming he is healthy enough to be out there.
  15. I agree he has NFL talent, but his history of fumbling will hurt his value, imo. It's hard enough for any RB these days to be a high draft pick, unless he totally eliminates the fumbles altogether (he certainly looked great today), I would find it hard to imagine that his draft stock would justify skipping his senior year of college.
  16. If I were a media member, I would have immediately started asking questions about the situation, especially the things that he specifically said not to even ask about, just to get a soundbite of his pissy reaction.
  17. Sanders was DC for 3 years at North Carolina and for one year at FAU, in addition to a pretty good resume as DB coach, so I don't think experience would hold him back. But from the rumors I've heard (no idea if they are accurate, but seems to be consistent with the same rumors that others know), Marvin's ship has sailed from NU. I don't think it was a criminal issue, but certainly philanderous and scandalous.
  18. It's pretty impressive for a guy that tall. Bench pressing is difficult for tall guys with long arms, so anyone near 7 foot that can press 300 is darn good. Dwight Howard is one of those freaks who can move a lot of weight, if the youtube videos are to be believed, but a lot of others cannot. Kevin Durant could not even do a single rep of 185 at his pro combine. Of course, bench press strength has very little carryover to b-ball skills on the court, so whatever I suppose!
