  1. I wonder how much of this could have been avoided if Washington's lawyers just let him speak to the police and explain what happened instead of running interference.
  2. I didn't say their ignorance was bad. Just that they are ignorant. And that is why I suspect people have disdain for him running, or potentially running, for president.
  3. I've yet to see a billionaire that appears to understand what is happening to the middle class. No matter the background and family history.
  4. I fail to see how my original statement of a billionaire being out of touch with today's middle class is false but you claimed it was. Just because Schultz grew up in the projects and started a business "from scratch" in the 70's and 80's literally has zero to do with if he understands what is affecting the middle class today.
  5. You're right. He started Il Giornale on his own. He took in investors for a coffee shop. One of those investors was the owner of Starbucks. But he didn't "grow" his company. It was still one shop. 1 year after opening his shop, the Starbucks owners wanted to sell for $3.8M. They gave him first crack. He took investors, again, for about $1.9M. Then Bill Gates Sr pretty much chipped in the rest. He was a good investment and salesman. No doubt.
  6. You said threat. If he acted on it, it would have been an action.
  7. Have you not read the story of the Coast Guard member with the hit list?
  8. If the rumor of him asking for $20M from the AAF can be believed, it makes sense why he would ask for that. If he didn't, then the NFL could show he was willing to play for $200K.
  9. He didn't start Starbucks from the ground up. It was already a company and he joined them as Director of Marketing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Schultz "In 1981, Schultz visited a client of Hammarplast, a fledgling coffee-bean shop called Starbucks Coffee Company in Seattle, curious as to why it ordered so many plastic cone filters.[12] He was impressed with the company's knowledge of coffee and kept in contact over the next year, expressing interest in working with them. A year later, he joined Starbucks as the Director of Marketing." Also, he says he favors rich people paying more in taxes but has dismissed both Warrens and AOC's proposals and has no plan of his own so far. Donald Trump was quoted in 2016 “I am willing to pay more, and you know what, the wealthy are willing to pay more.” And we know how that turned out with his tax bill. Either way, I don't see where any of what you said indicates that he understands the issues facing the majority of people today.
  10. The rumor I saw floating around the interwebs was that the settlement was for $60-$80M. That's a crazy number if there was no evidence of collusion.
  11. Vince McMahon already playing the heel with the XFL
  12. I think the disdain people have for Schultz and others is that they have a very different view of what America is like compared to the vast majority of the public. Trump, for instance, thought his highest ranking generals made $5M/year (It's around $180-$200K) Schultz has no idea what food in a grocery store costs. I'm not saying that makes them bad. It just makes them appear to be unaware of what the middle class is. So there is going to be apprehension of trust, disdain, etc
  13. There are plenty of things to criticize Fleck for. Wearing a suit to a press conference is not one of them.
  14. I suppose maybe the washcloth was used for exfoliating the skin as it’s cleaning you with soap?
  15. I guess I’m in the minority. I liked the hire. I’ve always liked the tough coaches, though.
  16. The bolded was from one of the articles posted a few pages back. That’s all I can tell you. I don’t remember which one.
  17. I wish they would have kept Thibs and made roster adjustments to fit his coaching.
  18. I like the Twolves but Hoiberg isn't going to solve their problems. That's not a knock on Hoiberg.
  19. I guess if your place has more than 1 bathroom, you'd need some extras?
  20. Am I not allowed to say that I agree with someone even if it is an obvious statement? Is that what you're going for?
  21. I guess so. From now on he will be forever called "He Who Shall Not Be Named"
  22. I just can't get behind a Sanders presidency. I feel he wants no one to have any responsibility or accountability other than someone that has a certain number of zeroes in their bank account.
  23. Ffs, I didn't say Dirk said anything profound. Just that I agreed with him that anything less than a major, major hire would set us back further.
  24. Thinking he won't and believing he shouldn't are two separate things. Also, WHEN he plays is probably worth more of a discussion.
