  1. Back from Texas. Shot 6 hogs! Was a blast!

  2. I am guessing since most people "work" from home now that not as many are taking off tomorrow or Friday but how many of you nerds are off one of the next two days?

  3. Bottom Round Roast.  Anyone ever bother smoking one?

  4. How many of you no longer mask up?  As of the other day, in Omaha, I have stopped masking up.  Most of my students are no longer masking either.

No longer mask unless it's specifically stated by the facility I'm going into.

  5. Was there a food you hated while growing up, only to realize later you hated it because it was made poorly?

I (think) I have a pretty big one: steak. I really did not like actual steaks growing up... ribeyes, T-bones, the like. But it was because I didn't know anything about steaks and my parents would often cook them medium to well done and served with A1. It wasn't until I got older and had well-cooked steaks that I realized I liked them a lot.

I hated liver and onions growing up.  My mom would make it several times a year and I just couldn't stomach it.

Well, my wife likes it, so a couple years ago, I found a venison liver and onions recipe and made it for her.  I actually really liked it.  I need to make that again.

  6. Super Bowl Halftime Show

The entire discussion around this is ridiculous.  Yes, it was different this year than other years.  It appealed to a different crowd that some others.  Great.

What I find irritating is people who are saying..."this is what it should have always been".  Well....sorry to disappoint you, but there are lots of different generations that watch the Super Bowl and they probably try to appeal to various age groups in different years.

Next year might be totally different and that's fine.

The funny ones are the people claiming...YEAH....they finally appealed to a younger crowd.  Hmmmm....artists from the 90s???  If you're saying that...you're no longer part of the "younger crowd".

@Apathy  that's awesome and glad you enjoyed it.  There have been years where I felt the same way.  Other years where others felt that way.  It's great that they change it up for the diverse audience that they have.

It's a half time show.  I can understand people saying...Yeah...that was great.  Or, Meh...wasn't my thing.  But, the comments on line I'm seeing about how horrible it was or how the NFL finally got it right are just silly.  Anytime you put up artists, someone is going to love it and some are going to not like it.  But...why make such a big deal about it?

  8. Lane Kiffen says NIL has created a salary cap…did he just say that out loud?  Now they have to compete to pay players?

    1. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

I thought his comments were pretty obvious even before he said them.  Other than, I don't think "salary cap" is the right term.  It's more like what @funhusker said.  But, I think that's what Kiffen meant.

My brother went to the Volleyball final four.  He ended up sitting beside a D1 Vball player.  During the discussion this came up.  She stated that the top players are making decisions in large part based on where they can make the most money.  Well.....Nebraska has done well in recruiting lately.

@funhusker Yeah, after I posted that, I read more.  Sounds like the parents were going through a divorce.  For the kid, I really hope it wasn't someone involved in the divorce that filed the complaint.  Also, I wonder if the kid was a major contributor/starter or did he play just a little.

The other team's coach came out and flat out said it wasn't him who filed a complaint to NSAA.

Does anyone know what the issue was with the player?

@VectorVictor I don't get that.  Why not be proud and splash that all over the internet just like they would with an NFL player?

Have we ever had an ex player become an NFL head coach before?

@ZRod I agree.  My attitude was slightly better.  Still not an ideal situation,

I will say this, my attitude towards the game was better since they both had to go outside the conference and beat a good team to get into the CCG.

@commando I felt the same way, then ended up watching it anyway.  I tried my best to forget they were both SEC teams and just rooted against Alabama.  It really was a great, well played game.  One thing I noticed was the difference in officiating.  There were lots of hits that would have been flagged in almost any other game....especially hits on the QBs.

  18. What are some things that receivers do that just drive you crazy? I hate it when the qb throws the ball to the receiver and he runs sideways or backwards thinking that he’ll get more yardage but ends up losing yards because he gets tackled! Run straight up the field!!!

  19. We are last in football Big Ten recruiting. Even Rutgers and Indiana had their best classes in many years. From bottom to top it ranks like this:
    14. Nebraska

    13. Wisconsin

    12. Northwestern

    11. Illinois

    10. Minnesota

     9.  Iowa

     8.  Purdue

     7.  Maryland

     6.  Rutgers

     5.  Mich St

     4.  Indiana

     3.  Michigan

     2.  Penn St

     1.  Ohio St

Number one through seven are all East Division teams.

  20. Urban Meyer out at Jacksonville  Interesting!

  21. Be honest, who has watched some Hallmark Holiday Movies?  I have!

  22. Just your annual reminder that Die Hard is not, and will never be, a Christmas movie.

  23. If you could eliminate any penalty in football, what would you choose and why?

I'd choose false starts (and the defensive counterpart offsides). You could still blow the play dead, but don't waste time explaining the call or allowing the teams to re-huddle and call in new plays. Just force them to line up and get after it.

@funhusker What is absolutely mind boggling and frustrating about the video in the tweet I posted was that the KC player, basically didn't move much.  The Denver player, ran into his area, the KC player simply took a step to the side and braced for the guy to run into HIM.
