  1. alfred morris only ran a 4.67 last year, was drafted in the 6th round and then went on to run for 1600 yards so any thing is possible rex will be fine
  2. i hope he stays but that probably wont happen
  3. Uhm i believe you just made my point for me. The statistic shows that only 32 players ranked four or five stars have made the Pro Bowl. Again if every one of those players made the Pro Bowl all 10 years(which they did not) that would potentially be 320 of the 840 roster spots taken. Leaving 520 roster spots available for those not ranked four stars or more. 320 is 38% of 840. 520 is 62%. 62% of players ranked below 4 stars make the Pro Bowl, 38% of players ranked four stars or above make the Pro Bowl. Players ranked below four stars thus are more "successful". The number of four or five star recruits in high school is irrelevant to the matter because we are evaluating them after that rating. Get it? =] i would think the number of 4+ star recruits in highschool matters since you guys are arguing about ratings they got in highschool
  4. i agree but so many kids are committing during the summer or early in the season that if you dont have a handfull of recruits committed by the start of the season nebraska might be in trouble i hope that nebraska can get some of the near by recruits to commit early since they should already be more familiar with nebraska than kids from other states
  5. you will defend these coaches to the very end lol, but i think we can all agree there are areas that need to be worked on and hopefully with this coaching shuffle that will happen +1 for you sir
  6. This is true. We spend a lot of time agonizing over the offense when that's the side of the ball working best. We do this with Cotton, with Beck, to a HUGE degree with Martinez, all the while ignoring our defense which has been getting progressively worse year after year. It's baffling. coach papuchis has gotten his fair share of hate on here there has been about 1000 fire papuchis threads this year but you're right some how Els gets a pass i dont get it
  7. pelini and cotton inherited a crappy situtation when it comes to the offensive line i think we can all agree with that no matter our opinion of cotton but i think its also far to say that the offensive line should be better 5 years in, i dont wont to come off like cotton is the worst coach in the world because he isnt and he has done a decent job but its not were it should be hopefully this move will put the team and the offensive line in a better position to succeed and will get the team over the hump. cottons experience should still help out the staff expecially when you got a young coach like beck making the calls a veteran coach like cotton is a valuable person to have
  8. So all of our walk-ons that have thrived at NU over the years only played because of poor coaching of our scholarship players? Or could it be that these players wanted it more than the others. Or maybe they we're easier to coach up easier than the others. Or, or, or, or. I just feel its BS when people say crap like this. How do two OL coaches fail when they have three walk-ons start? Yeah, our coaches only did a good job of coaching the walk-ons so they really improved. They basically ignored the scholarship players. Perhaps, also could simply mean that the walk ons wanted it more. If you look at the positions, except for Spencer, most walk ons were older and took advantage of opportunities at Guard and Center. Choi was a bit older than the other talented options, Reeves, Cotton, etc., except for Arod who simply is an inigma. Spencer is just simply a stud as can be attested by his 2nd Team AA status, any player, scholarship or not, would have a real challenge to have ascended ahead of him. Justin Jackson was Sr. who had talent, but refused to let anyone beat him out for an open position and played some pretty good football. When his back ups came in and played pretty well, I think that showed just how good JJ was to lock down the starting job. i'm not trying to take anything away from what the walk ons did they play there ass off and earned a starting job but if nebraska is gonna get to where it wants to be then it has to start getting more out of its offensive line than it has, its been good not great i couldnt be more impressed than what guys like choi, jackson and spencer have done but i would like to see NU get more out of some of it players
  9. how many of those guys were recruited by him? i dont think he has done much with the guys he has brought in but to be fair he is not a bad coach just average and nebraska fans want someone who is going to be exceptional especially when it come to the O-line its been a while since the pipeline days and fans want more out of the offensive front So we've established he's not a great recruiter, I acknowledged that already. In what ways has Barney been average? This is what I'm saying, nobody has given a single valid opinion with any factual evidence as to where Barney has faltered in his coaching. i would say when you have to start 3 walk ons on your offensive line and have failed to have a deep rotation in previous years there is a problem with coaching the guys on the roster i'm not trying to give you a hard time but i dont think a bunch of late round draft picks that dont play make you an above average coach also i dont think Nicks ever played under cotton he left after his junior year So all of our walk-ons that have thrived at NU over the years only played because of poor coaching of our scholarship players? How do two OL coaches fail when they have three walk-ons start? from what i've heard from people on here is that Garrison is the one that works with the walk ons not sure if its true but i've read it on the board if it is then giving him more responsibility should be a great thing
  10. if there gonna hold defensive players responsible for these hit that sometimes cant be avoided then they should eject players that dont keep their head on a swivel as well the guy Bell blocked and the Ok. State guy martin blocked on the special teams play should be held responsible because if they were more aware maybe the hit wouldnt have been as bad or they could just let the players play the game and do a better job not allowing guys that have head injuries play and improve the gear the players use to better compinsate for the speed and strength improvements in player instead of punishing the kids playing
  11. My rationale for that is when Charles Jackson was first coming in, everyone said he was Alfonzo Dennard 2.0 the way he played physical press coverage, with a similar frame. I know he's been moved around a bit and worked at safety, but my hunch is that JP and Bo will see the best value out of him at corner. And when C. Cooper and Harvey Jackson first signed I think the idea was that CC, more of a ballhawk, would be the FS and Jackson, more of an aggressive hard hitter, would be SS. Obviously things change but thats my guess. From what I have heard, are those two are still learning how to adjust the secondary, as Charles Jackson is getting it down to the "T". He knows when to tell the secondary to press, play zone, when to back up for the deep ball and he isn't biting hard on the PA. These are the intangibles we have been missing at this position, since O' Hanlon. The Safety position is probably the toughest position to play here. A lot more responsibilites than the average Safety. I am not saying your wrong by any means Pure speculation on my part so I could definitely be wrong. The great thing about Charles Jackson, and what I'm sure is much more certain, is that he's a player who could be a starter at any secondary position. He'd be good anywhere and I would be just as excited to see him at safety laying the wood to receivers who cross the middle. If Charles J. does indeed get penciled in as a Safety, I'd peg him as the starting SS and I'd say Singleton at starting FS, with Cooper as second string FS and Harvey jackson backing up charles at SS and Mohammed Seisay starting opposite Jonathan Rose at the other Cornerback spot. if CJ is the saftey to drop into the box to stop the run i hope he hits the weight room not sure how effective it would be dropping a 175 pound ex corner into the box compared to cooper, harvey jackson or singleton who are all 200+ but if CJ's the best guy then play him
  12. Bet he spends a few days in the pokey. And pays a hefty fine. i'd be surprised if he spends any time in jail most of the charges will probably be dropped and he'll just end up paying a big fine. not sure if its his first time getting in trouble though that would have an impact as well
  13. was he hurt last year? in an article on rivals he said he had 1200 yards/14TD's and 200 yards rushing/5TD's which doesnt seem like a full seasons worth of stats for a guy maybe he just plays in a run based offense and didnt get many opportunities to put up bigger numbers but his highlight video did look good

  15. it funny how everyone says scout sucks until they rank us in the top ten for recruiting When did I say Scout sucks? Yeah, never did.... didnt say/mean you specifically just thats how the board seemed to be and now everyone is bragging about a top ten class from scout
  16. how many of those guys were recruited by him? i dont think he has done much with the guys he has brought in but to be fair he is not a bad coach just average and nebraska fans want someone who is going to be exceptional especially when it come to the O-line its been a while since the pipeline days and fans want more out of the offensive front
  17. He stays at Running Backs coach. Why would they move him? duh thats right he moved after beck got the OC job
  18. I'll happily take a confrence title i think nebraska is close to being able to win one but there is huge difference between what nebraska has been the last few years and what Alabama, LSU ect are. hopefully it will be soon but i just cant see it considering this team cant seem to find a way to show up for conference title games hopefully something this year will click and they can show up in every game and atleast win the big 10
  19. it funny how everyone says scout sucks until they rank us in the top ten for recruiting
  20. hopefully guys that didnt get invited do enough at nebraska's pro day to get drafted late or get free agent deal, i wish the confrence would do a pro day as well for guys that didnt get invited to the nfl combine the more these guys get their name out there the better off they will be
