It is clearly the number of guns.  We all know that.

Easy access, type of guns allowed to be purchased,  gun shows not needing background checks, mental health care, etc

To me and my wife - besides Democracy (the future of our country at stake) - this is the 2nd most important issue this election.  The GOP has consistently fallen on the wrong side of this issue.   Comprehensive approach has to include the mental health side as well.    Too many people being able to purchase guns who have mental illnesses.

  2. This pastor nails it.  He puts the 'trump bible' in its place along with Christian Nationalism.  He makes it clear - the gospel isn't an American gospel but the gospel of Jesus Christ.   Plain and Simple.  It isn't for grifters like Trump.

Marjorie Taylor Greene makes wild claim that Democrats want Trump to be ‘murdered in jail’

The right-wing lawmaker from Georgia claimed on Infowars that the former president would have secret service detail removed if he is sent to prison after any of his four criminal trials

She added that Democrats are also attempting to strip Mr Trump of his presidential Secret Service detail to accomplish their goal.

“They want to lock him up in jail for the rest of his life so that he dies in jail,” she told Jones, a conspiracy theorist who owes the families of Sandy Hook victims $1.5bn.

“And they want to take away his Secret Service protection so that he is murdered somewhere in jail, possibly. This is how serious they are,” she added.

So, truthsocial has no limit on length of posts?  That seemed really long.

Yes you can go there and enjoy poking the cult of you want and use as many words as you want  Or maybe just one: CRAZY:blink:

  5. Too bad there aren't cameras in the courtroom.  It would be interesting to watch trump squirm and blow his top

So Trump's defense is:  "THE BOOKKEEPER DID IT!:laughpound  I wonder if the 'bookkeeper' is his long term friend and CFO.  Funny how they lose stature once they get on the wrong side of Trump.  So, we are to believe that a bookkeeper on their own accord set out to commit fraud without any input, direction, and initiation by Trump ....by the way I have some prime land to sell you in Florida if you believe that. :smokin

Donald Trump orchestrated a criminal plot to 'corrupt' the 2016 presidential election and then tried to cover it up, prosecutors alleged at the start of his blockbuster hush money trial in New York.

In court Trump fumed and shook his head as he was accused of lying 'over and over and over again' to conceal an alleged scheme to buy the silence of porn star Stormy Daniels with an illegal $130,000 payment.   Prosecutors detailed how Trump, aided by allies including the National Enquirer, used a 'catch and kill' scheme to buy the rights to damaging stories about his private life, and then not publish them, and falsifying business records to make the payments.

In opening statements, prosecutor Matthew Colangelo told a packed Manhattan courtroom: 'This case is about a criminal conspiracy and a cover-up. The defendant, Donald Trump, orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election.

'Then he covered up that criminal conspiracy by lying in his New York business records over and over and over again.'

He added: 'It was election fraud, pure and simple.'

Todd Blanche, Trump's attorney, told the jury the former president had 'nothing to do with' paying Daniels, and it was handled by a bookkeeper :laughpound.

He also indicated that Trump would continue to deny the porn star's claims that she had a relationship with the former president.

Blanche added: 'There’s nothing wrong with trying to influence an election, it’s called democracy'.  :laughpound

He also accused Daniels of trying to 'extort' Trump. Blanche said: 'She saw her chance to make a lot of money, $130,000, and it worked.'

Blanche told the jury: 'Use your common sense. We’re New Yorkers. It’s why we’re here.'

Take this situation for instance.  A bipartisan bill is passed.  People start to think...hey....maybe we can get a border bill.  Trump, says no.  It dies.

Then, the right wing media starts in on it...because Trump says no to it....spewing how bad it was.  You then come in here and start talking about how bad it was.

That's the epitome of how MAGA works.  Trump says something....then it becomes reality in so many people's brains.

And...the "facts" that are used by MAGA just simply aren't true....but they are repeated constantly by you.

The fact is Okla Sen Lankford is a true, old school conservative.    This bill would have passed any other congress with the kind of support he and others in the Senate originally gave it.  But this is not your Grandpa's GOP - it turns on every word from the cult leader.   Personally, I thought we finally had a bill that would pass and then Trump spoke.   He sabotaged that which would have been good for the country.  Some people hid behind the statement that it wasn't strong enough- I call  BS on that.  We didn't get the good because some wanted the perfect which is unattainable.  Inflexibility and 'purity' is the death nail of most good legislation. But that was all a ruse.  It didn't get voted on because the cult leader didn't want it and his weak followers did his bidding.    It was much better than the current situation and much stronger than recent proposals.

Instead of people with convictions like Rep DeLauro, the GOP is full of spineless lackies who don't think for themselves and complete idiots who think very stupidly like MTG & her ilk.

  8. Kennedy family standing wt Biden and don't want their name to be the reason for a Trump win.

Members of the Kennedy family will appear en masse and in force to endorse President Biden at a campaign event in Philadelphia on Thursday.

Why it matters: It's a public display of support that reveals a weakness Democrats privately acknowledge: Biden is likely more at risk from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s third-party challenge than former President Trump is.

    • With a substantial number of voters telling pollsters they are dissatisfied with both Biden and Trump, Democrats are increasingly petrified that a Kennedy name on the ballot will throw the election to Trump.
    • A similar fear pervaded over the potential No Labels unity ticket. But with those plans scuttled, Biden is turning his focus on the scion of the storied Kennedy family.

Driving the news: RFK Jr.'s sister, Kerry Kennedy, will invoke the legacy of her slain father, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, as well as that of her uncles: former President John F. Kennedy and Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.).

    • "I can only imagine how Donald Trump's outrageous lies and behavior would have horrified my father," she will say, according to prepared remarks shared with Axios.
    • "President Biden has been a champion for all the rights and freedoms that my father and uncles stood for," she will say, joined by more than a dozen members of the Kennedy clan.
    • Biden will be introduced by Joe Kennedy III, a former member of Congress who currently serves as the president's special envoy to Northern Ireland.
    • After Biden's remarks, Kennedy family members will knock on doors and make calls on behalf of the Biden campaign.

Zoom out: From inflation to abortion, the Biden campaign is seizing every opportunity to make 2024 a choice between two candidates — and two competing visions for America.

    • Kennedy's independent bid threatens that strategy.
    • Democrats view anything that turns the election into a referendum on Biden — and gives voters a chance to register their discontent with the status quo — as a grave threat to Biden's candidacy.
    • The event on Thursday is part of an increasingly aggressive effort to take on Kennedy, with most polls showing Trump's advantage grows with the ex-Democrat's famous last name on the ballot.
    • The Democratic Party is also preparing to fight Kennedy's attempts to get on the ballot in key swing states, and has hired communications professionals at the DNC with the explicit aim of combatting Kennedy.

Zoom in: Biden advisers aren't concerned about Kennedy making deep inroads with Democrats and independents. They're worried about his effect on the margins in a few key swing states.

    • Two of the last three GOP presidential victories — President Bush in 2000 and Trump in 2016 — can partly be explained by the appeal of third-party candidates to disaffected voters.
    • The electoral math bolsters those fears.
    • Trump's 2016 margin of victory over Hillary Clinton in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin was smaller than the total number of votes won by Green Party candidate Jill Stein in those states.

What we're watching: Kennedy is actually sounding a lot more like Trump — with pledges to "seal the border" and appoint a special counsel to review Jan. 6 prosecutions — than a traditional Democrat from a storied family.

    • But Republicans are also concerned about Kennedy's potential crossover appeal, with pro-Trump media abruptly shifting its tone on his candidacy.

The bottom line: Many Kennedy family members have been critical of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s candidacy.

    • Biden posed with dozens of them, including Kerry Kennedy, at a St. Patrick's Day party at the White House last month.
    • Thursday's event will consolidate that criticism and try to turn it into positive momentum for Biden.
