  1. Did... Did you really think that I thought all of Tim's recruits were just transfers and foreigners? Do you understand hyperbole?
  2. Basketball, more than any other sport, is where freshmen can come in and succeed right away. There isn't a 2-3 year wait period for kids to grow into their bodies and adapt to a college S&C program. If kids can play, they'll make an impact immediately. Now we have your opinion. I disagree. That's fine. You're wrong, but that's fine. If by wrong you mean right then you're right. If not, you're wrong yet again. Which means you're on a great streak of absolute wrongness. If being wrong is wrong...you don't want to be right. Just the same, to think any athlete that is 17-18 years old can be dropped into any physical sport and compete right away...is shortsighted. BTW, My 2 year remark was about both redshirting talent and those sitting out for transfer rules. The f#ck did I just read? Regardless. College basketball players do not need years worth of development. Freshmen can, and have historically, come in and provide an immediate impact. Miles has been here for 5 years and all he's managed to recruit are washout transfers and kids from Australia and New Zealand. Agree with the bolded. The rest.....not really. The rest Miles has been here for 5 years. Check Jack McVeigh, Tai Webster. Both from down under. Check Tim has had transfers from Georgetown, Kansas, Florida Atlantic, Texas Tech, Miami, Odessa College and Louisville. Check.
  3. I'm not asking you to be defensive, to be clear. I haven't followed this discussion all the way back, and I'm just asking you to support an assertion you freely made: that Obama, while saying the right things, did the wrong ones regarding law enforcement, and that Trump was different in this particular regard. Like, when you say "Trump has shown a huge amount of respect in his speeches towards LEO" -- as you have before -- this points to a difference in saying the right things. But you specifically emphasized that Obama also said the right things politically, and that words don't count, only actions. So as far as actions go, it's abnormal for Obama to contact widows of fallen officers personally. It's normal for Trump to do this. Is this a fair summary of your stance? Are there any other major contributing factors, or actions you will expect from the new administration? I'm very sorry if you see this as piling on. Only trying to understand your perspective more comprehensively. Words are the only thing I have to go by with Trump at this point. He isn't the sitting President yet so what can he really do? He didn't get the largest police unions support for no reason. He takes time to speak with us at his events, take photos with us, speak about what we're dealing with while he was on the campaign trail. And yes, he's called some widows of falling police officers. Now, if he starts showing that he only used us as puppets in his show, then I'll most certainly speak out about that. I want action, not words..........increase federal funding for local law enforcement to have access to funds to help assist them with building community programs. Re-open the door to have access to equipment necessary to deal with the changing environment we operate in today, i.e. terrorist attacks, civil unrest, etc. appoint justices to the supreme court that will protect rights, but not make our jobs harder as officers. Obama has said things during his speeches that we see are in support of us and then we'll hear a back handed comment that enrages us. Actions of things he's done to irritate us and make us wonder if he even supports us are things like sending white house staff to Michael Brown's funeral, appointing a lawyer and financial backer of a cop killer to a civil rights post, not speaking out for days, weeks, ever when numerous cops are killed in a few days, not inflame racial tensions between police and the community they serve with some of the words he's using in the discussion, see the Dallas Police Officer's Funeral as an example. So some of the things Obama has done/hasn't done have offended you as a police officer? Must be difficult for a politician to upset or offend you like that. Would you consider standing in solidarity with some of the people that Trump has openly mocked/offended? POW's, the disabled and women come to mind.

College basketball players do not need years worth of development. Freshmen can, and have historically, come in and provided an immediate impact. That's been pretty well established. Miles has been here for 5 years and all he's managed to recruit are washout transfers and kids from Australia and New Zealand. With recruiting it seems like he's just throwing stuff against the wall and seeing what sticks. "Kid from Australia? Sure. Kid that couldn't hack it at Georgetown/Louisville/Kansas? Why not?"
  5. Not opposed to a midseason firing. Put Molinari in charge, start the search now. Pony up some money and get a real coach.
  6. Is this for subjective positive changes? For example, if a Muslim ban and registry are instituted, I'm sure some of you would be jumping for joy. However, when thinking critically about how such a thing would be a direct violation of the 1st amendment, one could draw a conclusion about how that would not be a "positive change."
  7. I'm just not seeing much to be optimistic about. This team can't shoot and can't defend. Tai is about the only reliable playmaker. 5 years in and Tim is stupefied at how inept his team is. The Gardner Webb loss isn't an anomaly, it's part of a pattern. If something doesn't click for this team soon, it could be an epically abysmal season, even by NU basketball standards.
  8. Not trying to be hyperbolic or overly pessimistic but I think NU loses this by double digits. I'd love for NU to turn this season around and make a decent run. However I do not see that happening.
  9. You're full of absolute dogshit. One speech does not change the tone he set throughout his Presidency, and again, there is evidence of a dip among blacks and whites regarding their views on race relations during his Presidency, something that had remained constant across multiple administrations before him. Are you old enough to even be posting on here? Now regarding the bolded part, are you old enough to even be posting on here, because the level of immaturity you continue to display when pressed on a topic is outrageous. He just presented you with loads of quotes from Obama condemning violence, supporting the police, and generally disproving your generally completely wrong assertions. But I suppose your feelings about his "tone" take precedent over the things Obama has actually said and done while in office? And I suppose the dip you talk about regarding race relations was entirely on Obama, right? Or could it just be that you don't like that fact that he's speaking out about the plight millions of black Americans face every time they have an interaction with police? This is the problem with the GOP. Any amount of speaking to any kind of race-related issue re: the police automatically becomes an attack on the police from a person who doesn't support them. It's irrational, emotion-based bullsh*t that prevents a mature conversation from happening about a serious subject. One *CAN* criticize our policing system and still support the police. But hey, as Newt Gingrich said, "You can have your facts, and we'll have our feelings." Please, also, if you would, lay out a cogent plan you think would work to improve race relations. What do you think would be effective in this arena? Pulling a few statements out of one or two speeches does not equate to Obama creating an environment to maintain or improve race relations. The only speech I recall Obama offering some recognition that the anti-cop sentiment he and his party have put forward over the last 8 years was in Dallas after that massacre. More times than not, he has been quiet or offered more support for groups like BLM. As for facts and feelings, the quotes referenced above are not "facts" or data points at all. The data I showed for a recurring persistent poll of race relations in America over the course of many administrations shows a change has taken place in the last 4 or 5 years. You can try to assign blame to all sorts of other things, but as I said before, when the history books are written, it will be noted how divided Obama left this country across multiple elements, especially along racial lines. What can improve race relations? It's not something that can happen overnight, but I think having a leader that seeks policies that helps members of all races is a great place to start. We have seen income inequality and the economic fortunes of blacks decline over the last 8 years, and I think it will be important for Trump to pursue policies that really help out minority groups. There are so many more things that could be done, but that would be a starting point. Correlation is not causation. Race relations were poor prior to Obama. Merely having a black president showed the true colors of some parts of this country. Obama is not responsible for changing ignorant people's opinions. You're worried about Obama's tone? Our new President Elect has retweeted white supremacists, proposed policy that directly contradicts first amendment rights, is the fist President Elect openly endorsed by the KKK, has a white supremacist as chief strategist, white nationalists in DC having conferences and saluting and saying "Hail Trump", and has a surrogate who stated a Muslim registry is constitutional based on 1940's Japanese Internment camps. How is Trump's tone then? Please, do some more backflips for me on how to condemn Obama on his "tone" but then completely ignore and overlook our President Elect. Complaining about his tone... Give me a break. Shameful. An utterly shameful stance to take.
  10. I think this is the new normal for Nebraska athletics. 4-6 years, win some games, lose a bunch, then say "Next!"
  11. Obama isn't responsible for changing racist people's attitudes. That's on them.
  12. http://www.businessinsider.com/pat-mccrory-roy-cooper-north-carolina-2016-12 What's happening in North Carolina is utterly shameful.
  13. Critical thinking is not a strong suit of our populace. We have strong evidence that a foreign country interfered with our election and a whole subset of the country says "Meh" and moves on. How this doesn't terrify people and isn't the story of the century is utterly baffling. Keep in mind who his key voter population was as well. Lol, I'm well aware.

  15. This sounds like the plot of a low budget indie film.
  16. Intriguing article highlighting the education drop off between Obama's Cabinet and Trump's Cabinet http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/king-huge-education-level-drop-off-trump-cabinet-picks-article-1.2911859 The one that sticks out to me most is Rick Perry replacing two of the most brilliant men on earth, Ernest Moniz and Steven Chu, for a department that he forgot he wanted to eliminate. Truly astounding.
  17. Dylan Roof shoots up a black church. When he's arrested he gets a bullet proof vest and driven through Burger King. I don't think that would've happened if his name was "Dajuan."
  18. If there's a more appropriate reaction gif than this, I haven't found it.

    Keto Diet

I've been on a version of keto a few times over the last year. I have found that cycles work best since, for me at least, going very low carb for extended periods of time ends up halting some progress (which is to be expected when you are doing workouts in a carb deficient state), but mainly because my old man joints don't respond well to low carb for extended periods of time. Props to you for being on it for so long! I think that you could benefit from adding some tasty seafood to your diet while also adding some low carb vegetable options (use this chart to get an idea of good veggies....you already know that most fruits aren't great for keto!), whether in solid form (eh) or juice form (eh!) I always found my best results came from doing moderate carbs one day a week and "heavy" carbs another day. My DEXA came back at just over 12% (do the math on what calipers would tell you ), but to be fair, I was also IM fasting. I felt like the heavy carbs carried over a day or two into beginning of the week workouts (of course the heavy carb day was reserved for Husker game days!) which obviously helped. I'm interested in hearing more of your experiences! To the first bolded part, do you mean that you plateau out at some points with low carb intake? I have been fairly consistent with my diet and exercise this year and have noticed weeks where the scale wouldn't budge, and then weeks where weight seemed to be falling off, even though nothing had really changed diet/exercise wise. Everyone keeps telling me to add fish to my diet. Problem is, I hate seafood. I've tried just about everything. Not for me. I do take Omega 3 supplements though to try and recoup some of the benefits of seafood though. That's how I am. I usually treat myself to a half burrito bowl from Chipotle on Wednesdays. Approximately 3 oz or so of brown rice. Saturdays are cheat days. I try not to go too crazy and usually cease the carb intake by about 3PM on Saturdays. I've been doing intermittent fasting for a while now. I think Keto has been the biggest help though in losing weight the right way. When I first started IF, I lost a ton of weight really quickly, but a lot of it was muscle mass. I lost weight, not fat. FWIW, I started the year at approximately 188 lbs. I'm a 5'11'' male with a fairly athletic build, but 188 was way over what I should be weighing. Pretty much just skinny fat. (Full time job, grad school and internship have gotten me off track from time to time.) Started Keto in late Jan/early Feb. Diet mainly consists of grilled chicken for lunch and egg whites with chili for dinner. Workouts usually consists of lifting weights. Not trying to become Arnold Schwarzenegger, just want to tone up. Don't do much cardio. I like to bike when it's nice out and I'll hop on the treadmill every once in a while. But for the most part workouts are usually 3 or 4 times a week. I weighed myself last week and was 164. My goal is around 155. I try not to weigh myself too often. Last time I cut a bunch of weight I was far more focused on the number on the scale than anything. Trying to "pass the eye test" now. I'm thinking the mid 150's will yield the results that I'm looking for.
  20. Are you out of your freaking mind? Like seriously, you can't be freaking serious. Clearly he isn't serious hahahahah It's not that clear. 50/50 shot he isn't kidding. Didn't he post earlier about Tanner Lee is using some kind of new secret robotics technology to improve his 40 time and his body is rejecting it? Dude is either the ultimate troll, or devastatingly out of his mind.
  21. Cool - then we agree that CNBC is to Fox what Breibart is to ... well, theres nothing like it. Youre more naaive and uninformed than I gave you credit for Bni if you think this is left leaning issue. In fact - Is say your attitude is the exact problem we face and why its so scary. +10000000

  23. If that happens to be the case... then ...
