  1. Has it ever been verified what the hangup has been with Frost? I recall hearing somewhere that he got into it pretty badly with TO after the 96 ASU game. I also recall hearing that he was interviewed or at least contacted when Bo was here for OC. Apparently he wanted Head Coach in waiting status and Bo wasn't having it. Again, that's all hearsay, no way to truly verify it. Can anyone shed any light on the Frost-NU relationship? TO and frost are on great terms. I think the timing was wrong in '10, but I question whether that convo ever happened. What is benning and frosts relationship? Does benning like frost as a coach? I wonder what he thinks of frost considering timing of their time in the program and Bennings relationship with LP. I think benning often lets his personal feelings and need to be perceived as having "inside information" influence how he reports. This sort of unsubstantiated public claim is just one example of many. I kind of assumed he and TO were on good terms. I just recall hearing that after the 96 ASU game, it was relatively volatile. I also am curious as to Damon's true opinion/relationship is of Frost. Damon and LP were very tight and it wouldn't shock me if he viewed or blamed Frost as a catalyst for LP's behavior. I recall hearing that there were plenty of other players who had a strong distaste for Frost and they took it out on him in practice at any available opportunity. All that aside, I can't say I wouldn't be intrigued with Frost returning to NU someday. The idea of a triangle of hate with Frost, Harbaugh and Meyer is just too good to pass up.

Again, that's all hearsay, no way to truly verify it. Can anyone shed any light on the Frost-NU relationship? No. It's all vague, shadowy rumors, countered by plenty of people that know Scott or worked with/around him that have explained he still looks at Nebraska as his dream job. Seems kind of silly to me that people think he might let some sour grapes from when he was a kid linger for 20+ years towards his alma mater and home state. I'm not sure sour grapes really plays into this. When Frost was in high school and being recruited, he was looking towards his future when he chose Stanford over Nebraska. I've never really ever understood why some/a lot of fans were so butthurt over this. Given the same situation, how many people would have chosen playing at Nebraska in a power run offense over going to Stanford and playing in a west coast offense for a coach who won three Super Bowls? The only reason Frost ended up at Nebraska was because Walsh quit/retired at Stanford. There is little doubt in my mind that Frost will approach his coaching career in the same manner. It will be very situational. If the Nebraska job comes open and it's the best available job, I think he'll take it. If the Nebraska job comes open and there's another better available job, he'll take the better job. In todays day and age, I don't think dream jobs really matter that much. Urban Meyer once said that the Notre Dame job was his dream job. Yet when offered, he chose Florida. Can anyone honestly say they blame him? I don't think anyone should blame Frost either if/when he doesn't choose the Nebraska job. I agree. And not to mention, having a degree from Stanford doesn't hurt either. I'm all for individuals doing what's best for them and their families. I think you're right too, if Frost were to ever be approached by big time programs, I think he would make the most pragmatic decision.

  4. I think that 2004 was definitely wrong time to hire/fire. I recall that interview with Harvey Perlman where he stated that an NFL Head Coach was lined up to take the job after Frank got axed, but ended up getting cold feet and stayed in the NFL. I know some folks thought he was just blowing smoke, however I believe him. That search took around 40 days. That only happens when you're flat footed and have no idea what to do and you'll settle on whoever you can. Riley was hired in what, 4 or 5 days? There was a plan that was followed through on. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/outgoing-unl-chancellor-harvey-perlman-leaves-with-unmet-goal-huskers/article_1e710d39-c435-5f72-a994-9562f257b619.html
  5. IIRC Newby was the #1 rated RB out of Cali, and Adam Taylor was the #1 rated back out of Texas. I remember thinking that they were going to light the world on fire. Newby at least contributed some meaningful snaps, however I'd say his career was overall a letdown. What happened to Taylor though? Injury bug? Transfer?
  6. Hillary was the single worst Presidential candidate the Dems have run (she lost twice after her husband won twice btw) since Humphrey. Carter's second run was a disaster but no Dem could have won that one after the disasterous first term Carter delivered. The Democrat party needs a rebuild but it is NOT the names or faces at the top that is the fundamental problem of course. It is the radical leftist ideology that the party espouses which is just not supported by anything close to a majority of the American people. Even though Hillary may have received a few more popular votes than Trump, she only did so because Trump made the correct strategic decision NOT to campaign in California, Oregon and Washington. Had he made some efforts out there, he would easily have picked up 5 to 8% more of the popular vote. While not winning the electoral votes of those states, he would have swung several million votes and had a popular vote win of a couple million votes. The Democrats have been losing steadily in popularity across the country for decades - this is a long term trend. Evidence is the domination of the Republicans in House, Senate, Presidency, Governorships, state legislative bodies, Mayors, etc. I would submit the Dems have fully lost touch with the great mass of American society that simply does not agree with the radical, socialist agendas being pushed so incredibly hard. To 'rebuild' is not the correct term really. I would suggest perhaps more appropriate would be to 'redirect' and replace the radical agenda with something much more moderate and mainstream. The gap between the two major parties is as wide as it has ever been, despite the Republican party moving to left while the Democrats have moved far left. Today's Republican party is generally about as liberal/left leaning as the Democrat party of Kennedy/Johnson. Today's Tea Party/Conservatives are pretty much in line with the traditional Republican party of the 1960s through 1980s. The mistake the Republicans have made (if one were to consider such) is to veer left. America is more moderate/libertarian and middle of the road that it once was. But it is NOT 'progressive' or socialist and not communist despite the wishes of many of the party's leadership. Dems have been hijacked by the radicals of the 60s. Which party has the fervent support of the KKK and Neo Nazi's again? 2 Million is a few more? That's hearsay. You have no way of verifying that. You don't think gerrymandering or closing nearly a thousand polling places has anything to do with those wins? You're joking right?
  7. They don't hold either house and have very few governors and state legislatures. The republicans ran an absolute pathetic human being as a candidate and they couldn't beat him. They won very very few counties compared to republicans meaning their message this campaign didn't resonate with anyone that lives outside major metro areas. What do you think???? #headinsand It's easy to win elections when you suppress votes and constantly gerrymander districts https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-power-that-gerrymandering-has-brought-to-republicans/2016/06/17/045264ae-2903-11e6-ae4a-3cdd5fe74204_story.html?utm_term=.26be82b1a8c9 https://www.thenation.com/article/there-are-868-fewer-places-to-vote-in-2016-because-the-supreme-court-gutted-the-voting-rights-act/ I'm not going to defend republicans on either of those. But....those aren't why she lost. Those weren't directed at Hillary's loss. They were directed at the other elections that the GOP has won.

  9. Rebuild? I don't know. As a whole I think the party is pretty unified. I think they just need to nominate better candidates. Hillary was an easily attackable candidate with a devastating amount of baggage. She was the Dems Jeb Bush.
  10. 1. Michigan St. NU is 3-2 since joining the B1G and has beaten MSU twice while they were ranked top ten. I think this could/should develop into a bitter rivalry. The seeds for that have been planted. 2. Northwestern. NU is 4-2 since joining the B1G. Most games have been close. Field goal and last second finishes. Not the rivalry that I would want personally, however, the series has been relatively even and the games have been close and exciting. 3. Minnesota. NU is 4-2 since joining the B1G. Minnesota has been coming around, they're getting better. I could see them being a Mizzou-esque team/rivalry. 4. Iowa. NU is currently 3-2 since joining the B1G. We'll see how it goes this week. I think had NU won last year, it would have added some fuel to the rivalry fire. I don't see Iowa as a rival. I don't get the hate. It seems so feigned and forced to me. To me, a rival to NU should be a name brand storied program. Iowa is not that. Seeing them as a rival, means we bring ourselves down to their level. Why force a "border war" with a program that hasn't won anything ever? How does that make NU better? 5. Wisconsin. NU is 1-5 since joining the B1G. This is not a rivalry... yet. I want this to become a rivalry in the worst way. Wisconsin. Nebraska. Big Red Vs Big Red. Wisconsin is a program that I would want to call a rival. They have top ten teams, they have Rose Bowls, they have conference titles, they have NFL talent. They are a program that we would want to try and hold ourselves up to.
  11. These are the results you get from years of one party promoting anti-intellectualism and being anti education/science.
  12. DeAndre Levy, former UW player and current Detroit Lion recently stated that the highlight of his career was breaking Joe Pa's leg. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/11/17/13666220/deandre-levy-joe-paterno-broken-leg Some Penn Staters fired back "We find the recent statement by DeAndre Levy about Coach Paterno appalling, along with the silence that has accompanied it," a statement from former Penn State players said in the Detroit Free Press. "To joyfully and proudly take credit for hurting a defenseless human being is sad, in and of itself." http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18115641/former-penn-state-nittany-lions-players-upset-deandre-levy-comments-joe-paterno Lordy. Penn Staters never cease to amaze me.
  13. DPE finally houses one this year.
  14. Keep em distracted with gay marriage, abortion and brown people.
  15. I always thought Ferentz looked like an older John Cook
  16. Yes, that is a truly despicable incident that occurred. No doubt. However, if you think this is only happening on one side, you are truly delusional.
  17. 90% of the crowd would give a standing ovation. This whole thing is nothing more than proof of the ultra thin skin that Trump has. If he doesn't get control of that, it's going to limit greatly his effectiveness as a leader. It's also a pretty effective way to distract from a $25 Million fraud settlement and a surrogate citing Japanese Internment camps as a precedent for an unconstitutional religious registry.
  18. Yes, previous Presidents didn't counter their successor, largely because the successor was a competent, informed, intelligent person. This successor is devastatingly inexperienced, so much to the point that he didn't even know he had to hire his own White House Staff. If President Obama wants to continue to work to help make Americans lives better then that's his prerogative. If he wants to paint in his ranch in Texas, then that's his prerogative too. To the bolded part, you don't need to think of hypotheticals. A similar scenario like that already happened. This year in fact. Marking the 15th anniversary of 9/11 President Obama had a video taped message that played across NFL games around the country. It was met with resounding boos. Booing the President on the anniversary of 9/11. Seems pretty disrespectful to the office to me. http://www.gq.com/story/nfl-fans-booed-president-obama-911-video
  19. Pass the crow over this way. I'll own it. Good work Fyfe
  20. That's an interesting thought. I find using the Japanese Internment camps as justification for an illegal, unconstitutional Muslim registry to be deplorable, reprehensible and subhuman. I also find mocking the disabled, saying people can't do their job because of their heritage, saying you would date your own daughter if you could, bragging about sexual assault, putting a white nationalist as chief strategist and a man that has a long history of racist policies as attorney general, among a plethora of other things, to also be deplorable, reprehensible and subhuman. Teaching your children that people should be kind to each other no matter who you are, even if you're the president, sounds like a pretty decent idea to me.
  21. I feel more confident in a surgery from Scott Strasburger than I do in Ryker Fyfe leading NU to a victory.
  22. Shocking. Electing a man that has a white nationalist as his Chief Strategist and a surrogate proposing a Muslim Registry a la Japanese Internment. Who could've guessed that there would be such a reaction?
  23. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/11/17/japanese-internment-is-precedent-for-national-muslim-registry-prominent-trump-backer-says/ Citing Japanese Internment Camps as a legal precedent for a Muslim registry. You're still confused on how he's considered a racist?
