  1. The reason why we have good depth at WR, is because we have a solid starting group and young guys. Definition of depth. If you move all the young guys to DB, there is no long depth and in 3 years, we will have no one to play the position. Plus, you need 2 safeties on the field for a game and need 3-4 WR. We have a solid group of starting receivers plus a solid group waiting behind them. Dixon would be a third stringer, if he was lucky, at WR. Whereas at safety he would be able to compete for playing time immeadiately. Our wide receivers are stacked on a great offense, we are hurting at safety on a weak, unproven defense. He is needed more at safety, he may start at WR but I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps to safety because of the lack of depth there.
  2. The important thing is getting him here. Most kids will see an opportunity for early playing time at a different position and jump at it. Good point. I think Singleton and Gerry will both make great safeties, plus with the two Jackson's there right now, we should be ok.
  3. Whatever, man. A back with his power is a huge luxury, and without his power, that run wouldn't have gone for half as many yards. He is fun to watch. Regardless, if Taylor and Newby both climb over him on the depth chart, it will be a great problem to have. I think Taylor will have comparable power to Cross and could take over that big back role because he also has some decent speed. Cross would make a great FB or LB too, anywhere we can get him on the field.
  4. With the McWilson decommit, do we still let him start out at WR? We already have good depth there and need help at safety. And IMO he would make a great safety.
  5. If we were hurting for depth at WR then I would say go for him, but considering we are loaded there we don't need him. And now we especially don't want him after his comments about us.
  6. I thought he tweeted yesterday that he was doing it at 4pm, which would make it 7pm here. But I could easily be mistaken.
  7. Ouch. Really seemed like a good prospect at a position of need. Maybe he committed to VM instead of Nebraska and is following him now. Hope it isn't true.
  8. Any news on him as of late? Last I heard, Georgia may not be able to take him because he might not be able to enroll early.
  9. 333 now. Just curious, what is the highest anyone can remember?
  10. Finished today #5 all-time in rushing yardage at Nebraska. I think that, combined with everything else he has accomplished, is enough to call him top 5. Just curious here but what is everyone's list for the best running backs in Nebraska history? Mine goes: 1. Mike Rozier 2. Lawerence Phillips 3. Ahman Green 4. Rex Burkhead 5. Roger Craig
  11. This is definitely not the reason why we lost but a big momentum shifter was Abdullah's fumble. We were up by 8 and driving, had it not been for the fumble I think we would have scored, thus making it a two possession game. Instead we fumbled, Georgia recovered and had a big passing play(one of many) and was able to tie it up. I am in no way saying this is the cause for the loss, this falls on the defense. Just thought this was crucial to Georgia's win because we were not the same team after the turnover.
  12. The only explanation to this I think would be his history of injuries and doubts if he will be the same running back as before after his knee injury this year. Hopefully he silenced some of the doubters today.
  13. I agree. I'd definitely leave that type of decision up to Heard. But if I were him it's something to consider, injured groin or not. That isn't really agreeing with HuskerShark's statement. He was saying Abdullah would be better fit for corner because he thinks Heard has more upside at running back. Which is a statement I agree with, at least the part about Heard having more upside. I think he would have proven this had he gotten more carries throughout the season.
  14. Don't know who, but we need some staff changes... cough * cotton * cough... Also maybe some glasses for TMART Double sided tape for Receivers Set of balls for EVERY defender Maybe find out who operated on Adrian Peterson and have him "fix" our speed issues... LOL I agree. The D coordinator needs to be fired. As DL coach the DL was bad, and this D stinks. NU has the cash, a top DC should be hired. Bo Pelini is our defensive coordinator, I can assure you he is the one making all decisions and play calls on the defensive side of the ball, JP just has the title of defensive coordinator.

  16. Rex could have gone down as a top 5 running back in Nebraska history but injuries and lack of a championship team severely hurt that. We love you Rex and you'll be missed. Good luck in the league.
  17. What are our chances looking like with Mr. Clark? I know he is visiting 1/11, any chance he could commit on visit?
  18. We're still in this one, maybe not as strong favorites as we were, but we still have a chance.
  19. I think our game plan is to try and establish Burkhead early between the tackles, with the loss of Jenkins that should help. Then once the Georgia defense starts to creep up then try and get some play action passes and runs for Martinez. However, that's a lot easier said than done. I think that plan will work just fine. The catch is going to be not having turnovers. The Huskers have fumbled left and right, and UGA is very good at creating turnovers. And with our defense, turnovers will equal a blowout humiliation. Very true. I think if we can win the turnover battle and control time of possession then we will stand a chance.

  21. Couldn't have said it better myself. Taylor is a top tier athlete but not a top tier quarterback and that is why we won't win anything significant with him at the helm.
  22. Looks pretty good for a freshman. Has a lot of potential, we will have to keep tabs on him over the next couple years.
  23. Great offensive coach but what would we do with our DC? If Bo goes, JP likely does too. Terry Joseph! While I do love TJ, I don't like this new on the job training that we have done with JP and Beck. We are Nebraska and we should be able to hire proven and experienced coordinators, IMO.
