  1. At least they have their identity (great defense) to fall back on in close games when bad things happen. And they own the Huskers as of late.
  2. Iowa is a team that (painfully admitted) kicks our butts each year.
  3. Is it possible both teams lose, I'm sure the HC of both teams would try to find a way.
  4. +100 on Trev knowing both Nebraska and College football.
  5. You have very valid points. But ask any B1G fan who Wiscy is, who Iowa is, who Minnesota is, who NW is (they are David to the Goliaths BTW) they can tell you. But ask them who Nebraska is, and ??? Failure shouldn't create an identity.
  6. I realize that, but I still don't know who we are, it's different every week. And that doesn't seem to work. Programs with identity perform consistently year in and year out. It's about imposing our will on the other team, rather than trying to adjust to theirs. Hasn't been working.
  7. Whoever it is I want to see a vision, of what our identity needs to be. Without identity you can't have culture. Unless we are happy with our identity being "take what the other team is giving us". (from pressers with both Riley and Frost) I want the next HC to have that identity, make it a culture, and then go our and impose our will on the other team, instead of trying to out think, out coach, trickery onside kicks, etc. Figure out who we are and go be that. Pains me to say but works for Iowa, Wiscy, and Minnesota.
  8. No, but without an identity, you can't have culture. I don't care what the identity is, just have one. Our only current identity is to be pathetic. FWIW our "run the damn ball" identity back in the glory days was AWESOME.
  9. When we were succussful we always had an identity as a program. Even under Pelini we had the identity of being able to pull off close/OT wins. The teams that stomp us into the turf have identities, they knwo who they are, and what they want to do. Since Pelini ( and I'm to Bo-liever) our identiy has been "take what the other team gives us", heard it in press conferences from both Riley and Frost. Losing strategy. Figure out who we are, go out and do it. Whoever that takes, what ever it takes, just go do it. I long for the day when the OL breaks the huddle, points to the gap and tells the defense we are going to run right here, then does it. God, that was awesome.
  10. If GS can make us rush 5 and still only punt once. then what are B1G Ols gonna do. Tear off the bandaid, start shopping for the next coach.
  11. Wow this died quick. Did everyone go go the next head coach thread? Moved on faster than Trev did.
  12. but at least now we are firing 3 win coaches not 9 win coaches.
  13. Frost had to go already last year, Trev struck while the iron was hot. He gave Frost the rope that the boosters demanded. Now loosing to GS, he had the opportunity to do it now. If they pull off Oklahoma with a W then but then tank the rest of the season it gets harder. So get done what needs done and move on. Full disclosure, I'm on record calling Frost a PAB after he got hired, so good riddance, my aversion to him goes back first hand to when he was a student athelete. Never a Frost fan.
  14. I'd pay good money to watch someone from this board try to give Damian Jackson a swirlie. Good luck, nice knowing you. LOL.
  15. Alternately, extending the index finger like the #1 sign can be interpreted to mean "up your arse" or similar meaning to flying the bird. Heard this from a friend who tried to order "ein bier bitte" in Germany, signaling with his index finger. Got cussed out by the barmaid. (as an aside, one is the thumb, two is thumb and index finger, etc, I'm told) So only a matter of time before this new logo gets cancelled too.
  16. I'm amazed by your stunningly incredible insight for this amazingly incredibly complex and outstanding issue.
  17. I love what seems to be a pretty good portal class, but we have already been out recruiting on paper most of the conference teams who have owned us the last couple years. We have already had the talent, Question is, are the new faces in both the locker room and the coaching staff what we need to change the culture/coaching tendencies/effort/belief, whatever it is that got us to 3-9?
  18. That's not how statistics work. Yes, over time things tend to average out, you won't continue to flip "tails" indefinitely. But once you have flipped tails 4 times, the statistical probability of a fifth is completely inpependent of the previous 4. Taken independently, the next flip has the same probability as the previous 4, (unless the actions Trev made the HC take, change the probability of the coin). And our coin seems heavily weighted towards "tails" for the last 4 years.
  19. If Thompson has a good enough year to get drafted that means we win a bunch of games. I'm good with that.
  20. Distance between seat numbers should not be narrower than those skinny stadium seats they rent. Could never figure out why seat numbers are so close that 4 stadium seats take up 4 1\2 spots Spread them out a bit.
  21. Xmas32 hit my 6-6 prediction exactly. I will allow Frost to keep his job at 7-5 if that extra W is @ ioWa
  22. What you just saw was culture over skill.
  23. Saban knows, and T.O. knew to give credit to the team in victory and coaches take credit for a loss. That's how you become a coach with NCs under your belt. Frost has never taken credit for not having players ready for big moments. Ever. Not once in 4 years.
  24. Listen to Saban's remarks after the A&M loss and you see a coach who takes responsibility for having players ready for big moments. Pretty sure Saban didn't say that the game he just lost was the most fun he has ever had coaching.
