  1. Honestly I agree with that. The way they talk Stanton up he could truly be a force in the next couple seasons. Hard to imagine Armstrong as a backup but if JS is half as good as they say it will be a battle for the QB spot next year.
  2. I'm surprised OU is getting as much love as they are.
  3. Maybe one spot up. We beat a team on a huge losing streak but a wins a win. The USC loss does nothing as they were behind us. Texas losing helps not just our chances of moving up but also for the heart and sole of Husker Nation. Florida's loss won't do much to them falling because I'm guessing Miami is going to storm up the rankings now to protect the image of SEC, and maybe because they earned it. I'd be happy cracking the top 20 again.
  4. I doubt the coaching staff wanted to risk an INT that late in the game breaking in a Freshman, even being up by that much. Apparently there are groups out there that keep track of statistics and numbers and the little green men tell me that Nebraska hasn't fared well on that turnover statistic recently. Perhaps just a little good will towards keeping the masses happy and not chancing coughing it up. But yes I too am excited to see Mr. Armstrong throw some.
  5. We win the National Title becuase..... 1) Taylor Martinez threw his only pick of the season last week! 2) Our incredibly young defense is going to step up and play like seniors! 3) S.Miss is the perfect catalyst to compare our team among the elite of college football! 4) IMANI CROSS = BEAST! 5) OBVIOUSLY the turnover bug has been fixed, 4 picks vs 1 fumble? NATIONAL TITLE BABY!!!!! 6) The Blackshirts are just being kind by not sacking opposing QB's, they are merely saving it for bigger games. 7) Lee Corso has yet to pick against Nebraska this season........well he hasn't picked them yet either. 8) The officials love us again and clearly have our back for the long haul. 9) Dan Beebe's contract with Satan has expired so we will get over the championship drought. 10) And the top reason Nebraska wins the National Championship is......LIVE FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!
  6. Ann Arbor in November just cannot go well. Nothing would thrill me more than ending Brady Hokes win streak at home but this is a big task to burden our young defense with. Even if we somehow contain UCLA enough to win, a road win against Michigan is jus not in the cards right now. So with that said, please oh please Big Red, let last weeks meltdown be a secret evil plot to make.UCLA over confident coming in. Hey it could happen right?
  7. The only excuse I give Bo is that this is his first head coaching job. This is a HIGH profile situation to be thrown into. The transition has taken twice as long as it normally would for someone thrust into this situation but there was a conference jump. At first he was much more fiery towards the media and had a sinister demeanor on the sidelines. Now he answers the questions though it pains him and his sideline antics have decreased for the most part, more disbelief than rage at times. I want to support him to the end but yes, an embarrassing showing against the Bruins will not sit well with the higher ups. If he wins 10 games this year he will not get fired. If he wins 8 or less he will be officially on the hot seat. Should the bottom fall out and we have a losing season yes I believe a change will be made. John Papuchis IS to blame for the mass hysteria on defense. Bo has the final say but these are John's schemes and plans that aren't coming to fruition.
  8. It's complex enough that Seniors struggled to stop a jet sweep 50x over in last years title game. Id really like to know what the picture of the toilet next to the card suits is SUPPOSED to represent. Right now I have my own opinion. Don't get me wrong. Having a guy like Papuchis as our seasoned DC would be great, but can we wait that long for better results? 602 yards people, 602. Are we going to become every skill players career day opponent?
  9. We cannot allow 400-600 yards allowed to become a standard. Yes, theyr're young but so are alot of other teams. The issue is a young DC trying to make a splash with a complex Defense that even veterans couldn't grasp.
  10. Herbstreit is an analyst with douchey tendancies. Ah crap, I commented. Someones going to tell me I'm "butt-hurt" via witty internet meme. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  11. Since we announced we were going to the BIG we have smashed you guys in recruiting Texas. So Jayhawk hops on, compliments Nebraska's fan base, compliments the stadium...and the very next post he finds his exception. Nice. Good luck this year Kansas, hope Weis can turn it around.
  12. BTN > Longhorn Network Tunnel Walk > Sooner Schooner B1G Title Game > Round Robin Winner Sellout Streak Facilities Lincoln > Norman Better Alternate Uniforms We play Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. (Better nationally perceived competition....maybe not recently) Defense matters in our conference AND....... D'Leons. Nuff said.
  13. As a Husker fan this made me smile, made me proud. As a Fantasy Football team owner with Trent Richardson as my starting RB I cringed until I saw him walking again.
  14. This is true. But we worry about our perception to the rest of the country when we get blown out because it can have such a negative impact on recruiting. It likely isn't going to send the message "Hey, that team needs me! I'm going to Nebraska!". It send a message of, "Wow, they don't know how to develop talent, not going to Nebraska!". Which of course is not true, but a kid with Nebraska in his top 3 of Georgia, Alabama and Nebraska (hypothetical) watches both the SEC Title Game and the B1G title game. I gaurantee he is now down to his top 2. Thats where the anger comes from as a fanbase. Taking the next step depends on the talent coming in.
  15. Precisely. I didnt care what people said after his run against Wiscy.
  16. It's a great opportunity to show that this young squad has what it takes. A strong showing against the Bruins will go a long way on the respect meter going up against the bulk of our opponents.
  17. You jest but there is a grain of truth to your comment. Unfortunately it has come down to A) Play for Nebraska in the Big Ten and be a legend and a starter. B) Go to the SEC and be a backup but hey you will likely still get a dozen rings. I wish we could re-establish that nasty mentality and edge on defense where kids would foam at the mouth at the thought of becoming a Blackshirt.
  18. If we could just get a couple guys on defense with the sheer monster ability of Suh, and the mentality of the Peter brothers we could get our defense to rally around them and make the whole unit better.
  19. I believe it depends on the state of the program AND the type of loss. The 2010 loss to Texas was heartbreaking after the '09 game. A top 5 ranking tossed in the trash like it meant nothing. That was about as sullen an experience I've ever had leaving the stadium, (I also attended '04 Colorado, '08 Mizzou, and '11 Northwestern). We were so determined to be nationally relevant that the size of that deflation was infuriating. The fans exiting were just visibly and emotionally drained. Even Mack Brown said he could tell the fans were just shell shocked. During Callahan it became a regular thing to not be on par with teams. But the game has changed and we're on the step of being something special again, elite if I dare say. A loss now just feels like tripping five feet from the finish line. Overall we handle it about as well as the rest of fanbases but we seem to take it rougher on each other.
  20. 'Landlord of Memorial Stadium "You should stop." -Came across as rude, maybe I read too much into it. Bye Bye Big XII "I have an idea. It's kind of crazy, so bear with me. For the UCLA game, let's all wear red. Let's all stand up and be loud for four quarters. I know, crazy." -Ok, not a fan of Blackshirt wearing. Ironic since picture is a black jersey. Clearly likes sarcasm. knapplc "Nothing better to wear on a hot late summer day than a black top while crammed into a stadium with 90,000 of your best friends. If there wasn't much breeze we'd probably have about 50 people carted out of there by the paramedics." -I keep hearing this excuse but I don't really buy it as reasonable. Why don't more people wear white then? Goal-Line "Because NU does not have black as one of the two school colors. I am also opposed to the players wearing alternate uniforms. Gimmicks don't win games. Coaching, talented players, effort and pride wing games. I, for one, will be clad in Husker Red. " -Maybe it's not official but it is a part of a longstanding tradition. Not a valid point in my opinion. Seriously? against something fun for the players? Gimmicks don't hurt either. 2ndNnine "I hereby nominate 1995 Redux for King of the Intertrons for his fresh and innovative blechout idear." -I'm assuming this was meant to be sarcastic? Thats all on top of the smart ass internet memes. So basically what I take away from this is..........nothing really. Absolutely pointless to argue with people online. Enjoy the thread, I'm out.
  21. I had a long drawn out response but realized that was unecessary. The main problem is that every football fan thinks they are are smarter than the next so sarcasm plays out alot in these boards. Honestly I regret even starting this thread. Wear red. Its funny that makes some peole feel like more of a fan than the guy wearing black. I didnt mean to offend anyone who wasnt being a sarcastic snob so take that for what its worth.
  22. TOP 10 HOME WINS (Note: The order is backwards) '08 W. Michigan 47-24 - This was special because it was Bo's first win as (official) head coach. '09 UL Laffayete 55-0 - This was a statement win for a faltering offense after a heartbreaker in Blacksburg the week before. '10 Mizzou 31-17 - This put the nail in the coffin of the 'rivalry'. A solid win over an 10-3 team. '11 Michigan State 24-3 - The Spartans had momentum to come in and slaughter us during their special run but we stepped up and defended Lincoln admirably. '12 Michigan 23-9 - For me this was an end to a sour string of games I personally attended. Respected and ranked opponent, solid win. '12 Penn St. 32-23 - This was a nail biter to the end over a storied team that could have gone in their favor. The team stuck together and won. '12 Wisconsin 30-27 - 2nd largest comeback in school history on a special night game, alternate uniform, grudge match from Madison the year before. '09 Oklahoma 10-3 - We needed this game badly and the offense did just enough to help our dynamic defense win a struggle against the Sooners one last time. '08 Colorado 40-31 - The school record 57 yard FG and the Suh pick 6 are the stuff of legend. Great comeback rivalry win. '11 Ohio State 34-27 - The biggest nail biter in recent memory. Largest comeback deficit in school history to beat the staple of the Big Ten Conference. TOP 10 ROAD WINS (Note: The order is backwards) '10 K-State 48-13 - I expected this game to be close. Nebraska came out and kicked the purples teeth down their throat in Manhattan to say adios. '08 Clemson 26-21 - Bo's first season capped off with a big bowl win over a very respectable Clemson team that was better than their record indicated. '12 Michigan St. 28-24 - This was absolutely nerve racking to watch. But in the end a couple breaks and some clutch QB/WR play gave us a huge road win. '09 Arizona 33-0 - The infamous "Nebraska's back" Bowl win was a clinic of the special season Suh and the 2009 Blackshirts had. Awesome bowl win. '10 'Iowa State 31-30 - Nebraska controlled but ISU fought back. Instead of tying, an Int. by Hagg on a fake FG gave us the closing second redemption win. '09 Mizzou 27-12 - Embarassingly down 12-0 getting late Nebraska came to life and tore through the Tigers to win in convincing all be it late fashion. '12 Northwestern 29-28 - Redemption on the road in this 12 point comeback. Husker fans will talk for years about the takeover of Ryan Field. Clutch comeback win. '10 Washington 56-21 - "Nebraska fans just took our stadium over." A slaughtering for the ages, Taylor Martinez shined in this huge win over the Huskies. '11 Penn St. 17-14 - I'll never forget thinking this game could be ugly but the pre-game mid field meeting between both teams was truly an important moment. '10 Oklahoma St. 51-41 - What a shootout. This game pretty much had it all but defense. Big 12 Football at its finest. Huge win on road over an 11 win team.
