  1. Interesting quote from Rich Fisher (seems to me Fisher is defending his guy without specifically calling Martinez out)......"Fisher said. “Burtch was fine. He ran the right route. I wouldn’t say it’s on anybody. Burtch did the right thing.”"
  2. They go on TMart in the stat book. I agree with what EZ-E posted.....Cross should have carried that ball on the 4th and 1. Here's what I will say about TMart.....if I had my preference, I'd rather someone else had the ball. At this point I don't care who's "fault" it is, but TMart has a knack for the ball leaving his hands and ending up in the hands of the opponent more times than we need it to.
  3. If we almost lost this game from anything it was turnovers that cost us points and gave possession back to Wyoming. Pelini is not in danger of losing his job, nor should we want that to happen. We came close to running off Osborne and running off Solich cost us a bowl streak.....and a whole lot more.
  4. Pelini is in so far over his head that Nebraska is 1 of 5 programs in the country to have won 9 or more games each of the past 5 seasons. Dumpster fire indeed.
  5. From what Foreman wrote....."I think you can summarize the game by the first defensive play of the year. Senior defensive end Jason Ankrah could have tackled the Wyoming running back in the backfield for a 2-yard loss, but instead missed the tackle and he ran for a 7-yard gain."
  6. Pap talked about the in game adjustment issues. You should look up what he said. Or you can save us all the headache of trying to find which the post-game interview, statement, tweet or whatever you are referring to and just tell us (or share the link). John Papuchis......."The hardest thing when you have new guys isn't that you feel like they're going to make mistakes on things you practice," Papuchis said. "It's making adjustments and handling them. It's an opening game, and anything (Wyoming) put in in the offseason, we're totally unaware of. A critical element is to make fast adjustments. We made the corrections. Getting them translated was a bit of a struggle." Read more here: http://www.thenewstr...l#storylink=cpy [/left] +1 Thanks, man. Sure thing. Our coaching staff knows what they are doing and knows what they are seeing from the opposing offense. We had a physical talent issue on the defensive side of the ball last season. Pelini and Pap are serious about correcting that and I think our recruiting efforts reflect their seriousness.....but youth will make for some struggles in these in-game adjustments.
  7. Pelini said we should have went down field more. I think Husker Mike might disagree about our use of the screen pass. This is from his blog....."While the offense put up decent numbers, there certainly was the potential to do a heck of a lot more. Some of that apparently was by design; for some reason, Tim Beck called an awful lot of screen passes."

  10. I agree. Pelini said we are going to get the personnel in there that can get the quarterback to the ground. We were in position to do so a few times and didn't get it done. So Pelini is using the excuse that the most athletic players are on the bench? Wasn't this the excuse last year? If we can't get a sack against Wyoming what is going to happen in BIG play? Seven or 8 replays of the CCG if something doesn't change in this passive scheme. These games are when we need to empty the bench of the "better, more athletic" kids and get them experience prior to conference play. IMHO, the Fresh and younger kids played better than some of the seniors on D. Stay tuned to the battles at LB and DE.
  11. A couple of players had trouble getting off blocks. It was an issue last season also. This season we have the depth to see if the #2 guy can get it done.
  12. I agree. Pelini said we are going to get the personnel in there that can get the quarterback to the ground. We were in position to do so a few times and didn't get it done. Seven or 8 replays of the CCG if something doesn't change in this passive scheme. Pelini is saying if the number one guy doesn't get it done, the next guy gets a shot. Can't even compare last season to this one since several frosh and newcomers are key components.....Gregory, Bando, Gerry etc. But yes, we are much more athletic on defense this year. Pelini has said Bando is in heavy competition with Santos. Gregory is an upgrade over Meredith. Gerry's athleticism showed. Pelini also said he made some redshirting mistakes last season that affected DL depth. Our DL looked better and will continue to improve. We will get sacks....they might not be by the guys who whiffed against Wyoming.
  13. I agree. Pelini said we are going to get the personnel in there that can get the quarterback to the ground. We were in position to do so a few times and didn't get it done.
  14. There will be some personnel rotations to attempt to change this. It's a point of emphasis.
  15. Smith said he knew everything Nebraska's defense was going to do based on how they lined up. But no worries. The defense dominated in '09, it's not the scheme. The joke during the Pipeline years was that every opponent knew what we were running offensively, they simple couldn't stop it......the old saying about Jimmy's and Joe's. I mean sure, blitz packages get disguised.....but the scheme is not the issue. It's why there's been a heavy emphasis on recruiting the past two years.
  16. I prefer scoreboard. I think seasons are still judged by W-L, not yardage gained and allowed. I agree a wins a win, but wins will be hard to come by if you give up 600 + yds a game like the last 3! Yes, agreed. There are a few spots in that front 7 Pelini and Pap were looking at against Wyoming. Pelini has mentioned at least two spots he was not happy with where they are looking at the personnel.
  17. Talent wins. That's why there has been an increased focus on our recruiting the past two years.
  18. Dabo has not climbed every single year. His losing record was in 2010. His last two seasons have been great. I think Dabo's doing a great job. I think Pelini is as well.
  19. Dabo ended up with a losing record in 2010......and Pelini beat him in their head to head matchup in a bowl.
  20. I agree with your point....but check your depth chart. Moss and Gregory play the same spot. McMullen backs up Ankrah.....but I won't be surprised to see McMullen with the higher snap count. I am very aware of the depth chart. Thats why it said Moss or McMullen... I'm sure they'd be willing to make Moss or RG adjust if Ankrah truly wasn't up to par at his position. He is fine though. It would be Ankrah or McMullen, and I think McMullen's snap count will increase.
  21. Read what Pap said about the defense having trouble with adjustments during the game. Wyoming did a good job of creating confusion. Christiansen is an excellent offensive mind......he made Chase Daniel look like an NFL prospect.
  22. I agree with your point....but check your depth chart. Moss and Gregory play the same spot. McMullen backs up Ankrah.....but I won't be surprised to see McMullen with the higher snap count.
  23. He may not have rushed on some disguised blitz packages, but I am very confident Pelini and Pap will use him well. I think McMullen gives us better athleticism (and effort) on the other side than Ankrah. We shall see.....
