  1. So... did Apsu get the ban hammer, or did he jet since his cover was blown?
  2. Michigan State has a bone to pick with this one too...
  3. They offense crawling into a shell and doing absolutely nothing for a quarter and a half is what caused the defensive collapse.
  4. All season long, Martinez has been indecisive in many ways, holding passes too long rolling out vs staying in the pocket, and others. The worst one though is pass vs run. Every single game he start to run has a clear lane for a first down then pulls up and throws a terrible pass instead. My question is, is he being coached to avoid running??? Some of these are so obvious it is ridiculous.
  5. Couldn't find the punch... must be in the first 15 minutes of the video. at 15:34 though what is Miller looking for a flag on? False start? also 17:19- holding d-end 17:38 our db is held at the end of the run 19:26 Holding +punch on the fair catch 19:58 again our db is held 22:37 block in the back 23:39 Holding #75 23:54 Holding #89 24:18 Illegal hands to the face 28:14 Holding #11
  6. I want to say It was first half, I want to say late first early second as I quit paying as close attention after that, but the Wild Turkey was starting to take hold, so I can't be sure.
  7. Ok.... This sucks, for Davis... But..... I know for a fact I saw an Ohio State player throw a punch (both him and the Husker player were standing up) at the end of a play during the broadcast, and right in front of a ref that wasn't penalized. It was blatant and obvious. Where is the report on that? I don't have time to rewatch the broadcast, but I can tell you it happened in the upper right hand corner of the screen after a Nebraska offensive play.
  8. Hmmm... interesting response to my inquiry
  9. What are the chances Apsu is a troll here to confuse and spread conspiracy theories on behalf of a person/nation/other with an agenda. Account created June 2nd. Who would know this?? This was posted Sept. 5th. Note: I hope the regular denizens of the Politics and Religion board do not mind me posting here. HuskerBoard rules had been no posting here until you reach 250 posts, which I am far short of. But thanks to David Max's new software upgrade, that limitation did not get included. Hopefully I will be slightly less annoying than the plethora of advertisements that are sure to follow.
  10. I knew that the offense was young in the preseason. What I didn't see happening was line play falling off as much as it has.
  11. Ohio State wasn't the game we wanted it to be. We were beat handily. But this is what gives me hope for the future. On offense, Nebraska has 1 Senior Starter. In fact, there are only 4 seniors on the entire offensive two deep. There are 6 junior starters and only 7 juniors on the two deep. Which means out of 31 total players on the two deep, roughly a third of them are upper classmen. As a result this will be the worst Nebraska's offense will be for at least 3 years. I also do not believe Nebraska is near as bad as we looked on Saturday. Last week. I believe we were victims of what Shane Falco would describe as quicksand, and our young offensive team could not over come it. I have actually been part of a team that fell victim to this very same issue. The year prior with a large senior class, we won the state championship with an undefeated season. The following year there were only 4 seniors (two that started the previous year), followed by another large junior class. The 2nd or 3rd game of the season we ran up against our toughest opponent. Things started bad and snowballed, the final score 56- to like 8- with the game being ended in the 3rd quarter to the 45 point rule. - The team rebounded and met that opponent again in the playoffs and beat them 22-20 en-route to a second consecutive state championship. All that to say, quicksand is real, especially in high pressure games. We are young and have a bright future. Sure we are taking our licks now, but in a year, maybe two. It will be worth it.
  12. All of Iowa melting down due to Carson King reporting by the DSM Register. The Register is failing overnight. Already had to release a statement the was woefully tone deaf and threw gas on the fire. I can't look away

Just to add to this story, the reporter from the register that tried to make this a huge story has had this bite him in the proverbial a$$. People started going through his social media and found several racist, homophobic, and cop hating posts that he's made over the years. So the saying goes.........people who live in glass houses......

      FURTHER UPDATE -

Busch announced it will cut all ties with Carson after announcing they would make beer cans with his face on it and match all of his donations.

Interesting, because Carson's tweets were quotes from Tosh.0... back when those episodes aired, Busch was a sponsor on the show... Hypocrites, all of them.

And the Register fires that reporter and the donations keep pouring in for the children's hospital.

  13. The offense took a full quarter off, thinking they had the game won, and left our defense out for a full quarter to get gassed. Our offense failed the defense today. This loss is on them.
  14. That's what happens when the offense takes a whole quarter off cuz they think they have it won
  15. Great highlights. This kid looks T-Mart fast. Loving the QB's we're bringing in.
  16. This comment really wasn't about number of scholarships... more addressing the idea that a male sport wouldn't be asked to make roster adjustments in the name of a better football team. It happens, just not to the extent it did for the affect womens teams.
  17. Umm, I believe there have been conversations like. Boy, we really want this guy to play football for us, he's also pretty decent at track/baseball/wrestling. Do you think you could check him out and potentially make room for him on the roster? He'd really like to play both... let's be honest, at Nebraska almost all sports come secondary to football. Not trying to downplay your point, but at NU, l believe nonfootball sports are taxed by football in someway.
  18. While I agree Title IX is not the sole contributor for the decline in wrestling programs, to suggest that is has not had a major impact is not realistic either. Here is a great article from Forbes on the issue. From a 2005 article in "Accuracy in Acedemia," NCAA statistics show that men’s cross country leads the list of most dropped programs in the last 15 years at 183. Indoor track (180), golf (178), tennis (171), rowing (132), outdoor track (126), swimming (125) and wrestling (121) are other men’s programs that have been cut mainly because of current Title IX enforcement, Pearson said. https://www.academia.org/wrestling-with-title-ix/ Another interesting article from Forbes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/kristidosh/2016/03/17/the-future-of-collegiate-wrestling-isnt-at-division-i-level/#12cb18f82fcc
  19. As a former wrestler, it has pained me to see what Title IX has done to the sport on the national collegiate level. I believe that the decline in college wrestling programs has also greatly contributed to the global decline in wrestling (Olympics have actually considered cutting the sport, and did in fact do so.) as so few are now involved in the sport in the US that the worlds largest television market does not pay attention to the sport at the global level. That being said, wrestling may now be part of the solution. Women's wrestling clubs nationwide are taking off like crazy. If NU were to add a women's wrestling team, that would be approximately 25 new opportunities for female athletes. What's more wrestling is one of the cheapest sports to add. The only equipment necessary is a mat.
  20. Interesting question here on partial qualifiers. What was the intent behind allowing them? I believe those arguing that the intent was to allow superior athletes to compete when otherwise they would not be eligible, for the sole intent to win games are accurate. However those students were then able to prove they belonged, have success both on and off the field, and gain am education that likely extremely changed the course of their life significantly for the better. So, does the fact that the 2nd outcome was not the intent behind the policy damper the good that happened as a result?? I think not. This is what is called a win/win situation. You play, we win more, and you get the benefit of all the amazing academic services we provide to ensure your success in the classroom, to ensure that when football is over you can have a degree to help ensure your success in life. This was a positive for all involved.
  21. Ha. Jamal Turner was never going to be a quarterback. What's more I'm not suggesting any kind of position switch. Just a few situational packages to get the kid on the field in a role to use his exceptional abilities to impact the games in which we might need another impact player to get us to the finish line. Think Suh as an RB/ Lead Blocker in goal line packages. Also it wouldn't be the first time a BIG team has used their back up qb as a wide receiver. Didn't Wisconsin or Michigan to that with a ton of success a few years back?
  22. Ok, so McCaffrey is a QB. He's also probably one of the fastest guys on the team and has a qb's understanding of the game. He has 4 games to play this year, while still preserving his redshirt. In the spirit of getting the best players on the field, why would we leave him on the bench in a back up qb role for those 4 games? Why not get him ready at receiver for Ohio State, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Iowa? Instead of getting meaningless snaps, get him in the games that matter most to make an impact.

Sounds like the guy who pumped a bunch of $ into the AAF recently, was more interested in the gambling app which the league is developing.  He just wanted that intellectual property.

I was reading an article on The Athletic about the failure of the AAF, and it was mentioned that Billy Devaney was GM of the Atlanta Legends.  Man, with another Riley tie, should we really be surprised the AAF went under?
